Beautiful Soul, Chapter 10
For once Fred and George really were not up to any of their tricks. They explained to Seamus that, although they didn’t have anything planned, he should be ready at a moment’s notice. The three of them separated with an updated form of Extendable Ears. It had been quite useful during the war, the pieces were much smaller and could be used for spying. Seamus had come up with the spell to modify them; and now the ears were so small, all they had to add were invisibility and sticking spells and they were able to ‘bug’ anyone, anywhere.
Tonight the ‘bugged’ person was Harry, considering he seemed to be the one getting most of the attention tonight, after all it was his birthday. Harry may have been oblivious to Draco, the twins however noticed. When they were patting Harry on the back, they had slipped another small piece onto his shirt. Harry didn’t pay attention at all.
The three troublemakers stared at Draco when he mentioned Emily at the concert, they grinned at each other. It would definitely be an interesting evening.
Once at the party, they decided to disappear from sight. They didn’t really have to worry. Ron and Hermione were obviously going to take full advantage of an evening without parents. The twins decided they should probably have a talk with Dean soon; after all, he was dating their baby sister.
Seamus was the first to notice Jesse kissing Harry. He got the twins attention. George spotted Draco on his way over to Harry. Everyone was ready for what would happen.
The three met over near Harry, but remained hidden. Just listening to the conversation the three agreed they really did not like Jesse. Seamus also started cheering for Draco during the conversation.
Fred had to put his hands over Seamus’ mouth; he dropped his hands immediately when he saw Draco kiss Harry. None of them could believe that Draco would just kiss Harry and walk away. They watched Harry’s expressions change rapidly from confusion to hope and back to utter confusion again as Jesse took him by the hand.
Seamus started to follow Draco. Fred walked causally into the garden behind Harry and Jesse. George had decided it was time to have a little talk with his sister’s boyfriend, especially since he had looked around and could not see either of them.
Seamus was following Draco closely; so closely that, when Draco turned to face him, it was to late to do anything but stand his ground.
“Finnegan, why are you following me?” Draco spat.
“Oh, I am sorry, Malfoy,” Seamus replied in his formal Irish brogue.
“Well, are you going to stand there all night? I would like to leave this poor excuse of a party.” Draco replied, his bitterness shining through.
Seamus decided to take a leap of faith with Draco. “You know, I saw you kissing Harry. What’s up with that?”
“One reason, Finnegan; just give me one good reason why I shouldn’t hex your bollocks off?”
“Now, now, Draco. I may call you Draco, right? We wouldn’t want Harry to find out you are threatening his friends, would we? I mean, his friends mean the world to him; and if you want to get beyond the kissing stage, you should be nice to us.” The boy had talent, Seamus sometimes amazed himself with the way he could talk his way through any situation.
“Honestly, Harry would want to know why I didn’t do it sooner. Maybe that would make him happy. What do you think, Finnegan?” Draco replied with a smirk.
“Tut, Tut,” Seamus made a clucking noise. “We all know Harry would think you were asking to be hexed. So my question is just this. Are you just planning on tormenting Harry, treating him like some kind of toy, or do you really like him?”
“Finnegan…” Draco practically growled.
“I swear, Draco, I really want to know. Harry has never been given the chance to be happy and young. If you are serious about him, I can help you. Otherwise, I will keep encouraging this silly crush he has and we all know it is just a crush. He resembles you too much for him to truly be in love with him.” Seamus decided that he would let a bit more out about what he had figured out on his own.
“On Jesse, you mean?” Draco questioned quietly.
“Yeah no offense, Draco, but I really don’t like him.” Seamus could barely disguise the intense hatred he was beginning to feel towards the singer.
“None taken. I am getting there myself,” Draco mumbled under his breath, swearing about imposing cousins not knowing their place.
“So you are serious about Harry then?” Seamus asked, yet again.
Draco looked at him pointedly, “Yes, Finnegan, I am. Does it make you happy to know that I have been in love with him for a while now, but I couldn’t say anything? He would have laughed at me. It is bad enough I just put my heart on the line and he knows it. Now please continue, if you have a point, or excuse me so I can get away from this nauseating place.” Draco practically yelled at him at this point. Seamus looked at him thoroughly and then smiled.
“Well then, you might want to know the two of them just went into the garden. Alone.”
Draco looked shaken and then resigned.
“Honestly, I thought you had balls. If you are serious about him, you should be out there with him, not that two-faced cousin of yours. Of the two of you, I would say Harry would be happier with you. Granted, I will probably deny that I said that at some point.” Seamus looked at him again, waiting for a reaction. “So are you going to just stand there or are you going to go get the man you love?”
Draco nodded, slightly shaken at Seamus’ words, and then rushed off toward the gardens.
Seamus looked around and then spoke into the spelled rings that the twins had designed for their night of festivities. “The ferret has left the building. I repeat, the ferret has left the building.”
~~ * ~~
Fred looked up as Draco hurried by. He didn’t have much time to get out of the way after Seamus’ warning. He had been following Harry from a distance and when Seamus had mentioned Draco was coming out, he had to move out of the way quickly. Tripping and falling into the bushes, he landed on Ron, who had his hand up Hermione’s shirt.
“What’s going on, Fred?” Ron asked grumpily. He didn’t like being interrupted when he was with Hermione.
“Ah, nothing, you know the usual,” he replied totally evasive.
“Who are you spying on this time?” Hermione questioned. She figured it out immediately, as usual.
Seamus rushed out and found Fred. “Did he make it in time?”
“Almost, from what I can see he just got to the rose bushes, which is where they disappeared into,” Fred replied looking around the tree at the entrance to the roses. He noticed that the roses had changed when Draco showed up. Very interesting.
“Who? What’s going on?” Ginny asked as she came over looking slightly mussed.
“Ginny, where is Dean?” Hermione questioned.
“Oh, George still had him cornered. I figure he will finish with the “Big Brother Talk” in a few minutes and come on over. Now what is going on?” Ginny seemed to not be worried in the least that Dean was alone with one of her brothers. Ron on the other hand was debating about going to join George. He shared a dorm with Dean after all and knew what all the boy did.
“Apparently Seamus and Fred are spying on someone. I would hazard a guess that it is Harry because he isn’t here. He is with Jesse, whom I noticed as he pulled Harry this way. What I really would like to know is WHY Draco went that way practically running?” Hermione asked. She managed to sum things up quite quickly.
“Um, yeah,” Seamus started, “I encouraged him to... OH FUCK!” Seamus and George looked panicked, all of the colour draining from their faces. “Did you get that, George?” Seamus questioned as him and Fred started running. George came from behind another bush and fell into step behind them. A relieved looking Dean stepped out from behind the bush as the others started to run. The twins stopped, grabbing Seamus as he got to the roses. They couldn’t hear anything that was being said, but then that is also what the ears were for.
“Draco saved him.” George said with a sigh, although he still looked ready to kill.
“I guess the ferret is all right after all,” Fred said.
Seamus was the one that spoke what the other two were thinking, “We need revenge! He needs to pay for that, and pay dearly.”
The three looked at each other and grinned. They had totally ignored the others. Their faces were still showing their fear, but they were starting to calm down. They were starting to look forward to the revenge.
“What’s this about?”
The other’s grinned again. Fred started, “Come on we need to hurry, you keep a look out. Go in if Draco needs your help.”
“Okay, I can’t wait to get my hands on him.” Seamus replied.
The twins jumped into action, quickly telling everyone what they needed then to do. Placing everyone where they needed to be for the revenge.
“What’s going on?” Dean asked.
George sighed. He hated taking time to explain everything to everyone. “Look Harry was just in a spot of trouble. He is fine now and if it gets any worse, Seamus will go in followed by us.”
“What happened and why is he going to help Malfoy?” Ginny questioned. Her temper was starting to flare. No one could mess with her adopted brother.
“Jesse tried to force Harry into something he didn’t want to do…Holy Hell Jess is a Squib!” he snickers and laughs.
“That bastard! I am going to kill him!” Ron yelled, ignoring the last part of what his brother said.
“Settle down, Ronnikins. We are about to take care of it. Places everyone here comes the victim,” Fred said with an evil grin.
“Ready???”
Jesse rounded the corner near Seamus, and Seamus being the good friend he is put his arms around Jesse. Jesse looked relived for a moment, then Seamus stepped away and honey came raining down on him. “I hope you know how sweet you really are, Jesse,” he whispered to him as he disappeared behind a bush.
Ron and Hermione ran over pretending they didn’t know what was going on? “Are you alright, Jesse? What happened?” He didn’t see the intricate wand movements Hermione made behind Ron’s back towards him.
Ron pulled Hermione out of the way as chicken feathers flew towards Jesse and stuck to him. “Oh man, what a spot of bad luck, Jesse,” Ron remarked casually.
“Oh, I do hope that comes off,” Hermione said thinking of the dreadful mess it was going to be.
By the time Jesse had reached Ginny wings had formed on his back. Panicking Jesse raced into the ballroom as above his head a message board appeared. Everyone in the ballroom stopped dancing to look at Jesse running in looking like a chicken.
The sign blinked again stating the true events of the evening.
Jesse is the name.
Rape is my game.
This much is true
It could happen to you
This is here to warn
If you try to harm
The Boy Who is Scarred
You will be feathered and tarred.
The Hogwart’s gang all looked at each other smiling. They knew they would get in to trouble at some point. Right now, though it didn’t matter. Jesse had hurt Harry and NO ONE got away with that.
