Chapter ten

“Hermione, how are you feeling?” Ron asked, watching her poke at her breakfast.

“Yes please.” She answered.

“Huh?” Ron looked puzzled.

“That’s okay, I have to wash my hair. See you tomorrow.” She said, getting up and leaving the great hall.

“What the hell was that all about?” Harry turned to answer the question when there was a loud scream.

“She’s dead! She’s dead!” a high pitched, female voice screamed.

It was Pavarti Patil. She was waving her arms like a mad woman and running down the hall to the staff table, collapsing in a heap.

“Who’s dead? Calm down Miss Patil, who are you referring to?” Dumbledore asked sternly.

“Lavender! She’s dead! Blood…everywhere! No one even noticed!” she screeched.

Hermione stopped, and slowly turned her head. It wasn’t me…at least I don’t remember…she thought, as all eyes turned on her. Harry and Ron got out of their seats and began to walk over to her.

“Sit down!” Dumbledore yelled to the boys.

They looked up at him, confused. Snape strided out from around the table and down towards Hermione, who was just glazed over in initial shock. My first killing? YES! LAVENDERS DEAD, LAVENDERS DEAD…She thought in a sing song voice.

“Granger. Come with me. Now.” Snape ordered.

“No.” she said, smiling.

“I bed your pardon?” Snape asked, his face looking more and more disturbed than usual.

“I said no. I didn’t do it. I can prove it…I think. I was with Draco up in the common room all night. We had an…argument and I went to bed.” She lied.

“Is that true Mr. Malfoy?” Dumbledore asked.

“Yeah. I was awake most of the night.” He said, glaring at her.

“Innocent, until proven guilty. You two may leave.” Dumbledore said, pointing to Draco.

“Why do I have to leave?” he questioned.

“Because I said so. That’s why. Now go.” Dumbledore replied, bending down to calm Pavarti.

Hermione looked up at Snape and gave him a sexy wink. He felt as though someone had just buried him alive. He turned on his heel and walked back in a huff. Draco reached Hermione, glared at her, grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the great hall, closing the oak doors with much effort behind him.

“Did you do it?” Draco yelled.

“No!” she replied, standing nose to nose with him.

“Then who, other than you, would want Brown dead?” he asked, losing his voice.

Hermione took a step back, “I didn’t kill her. Don’t you think I would remember if I had of killed someone?”

Draco sighed heavily and fell back onto the old, disintegrated couch. Bad idea. He fell straight through the chair and hit the floor beneath it. ‘shit’ he muttered. Hermione held out her hand to him. He hesitantly took it and she pulled him up.

“Why’d you leave last night?” he asked softly.

She looked up to him, his grey orbs swimming with sadness, “You don’t want to know.” She said softly.

“Would I ask if I didn’t?” he snapped.

“If I told you, you would run in the other direction. You’d fear for your life.” She said, half heartedly.

“I already fear for my life Hermione!” he burst.

She narrowed her eyes, “You really want to know.” I’ll ask that question another day.

“Yes, I really want to know.” He said, holding her hand in his.

She lit the fire and looked up to the photo frames, “I had a premonition…they may not always be correct I just didn’t want to take a chance on this particular one.” She said, avoiding his gaze as he sat down beside her.

“What happened?” he whispered.

“We were about to make love but I stopped…like I was teasing you and then…I drove my fingers into your stomach and…played with your insides…out of pure joy.” She explained, holding back a sob.

He felt nauseous. Almost sickly, but pushed those thoughts out of his mind and put his arm around her shaking shoulders. She desperately tried to avoid his eyes, but it was no use. When she was dating Ron, he made her feel a little uncomfortable, because he felt nervous when he was around her. But with Draco, she felt at home-although she was not dating him, she didn’t extinguish the thought.

I have to kiss her…her lips are so plightful…they’re so…”Hermione?” he asked softly.

“Yes Draco,” she replied, her eyes boring into his.

“Can I kiss you?” he whispered, ever so softly.

She bit her bottom lip. He loved it when she did that, “Yes…” she replied, bringing her lips to his.

When Draco felt her warm lips, brush against his, his whole body shuddered. She opened her mouth, allowing his tongue to, at last, explore her mouth which he’d wanted to do, for such a long time. He snaked her arms around her waist, pulling her closer to him. She slowly pushed him to the ground, and straddled his hips, breaking the kiss. Suddenly, she felt a heat wave, rush through her body. It was happening. Her vision. She growled in the back of her.

“Go..” she whispered, clutching her stomach.

“What?” he asked, confused.

“Leave! Now!” she yelped, rolling onto the floor.

The vision…shit! He thought, jumping to his feet and running out of the room. What to do, what to do…he ran towards the great hall, hoping Harry and Ron were still there. Bugger! He ran down the corridor, yelling out their names.

“Potter! Weasley! Where the hell are you!” he yelled.

“Hey! What do you want?” a voice yelled from behind him. It was Harry.

“Fuck...it’s Hermione…she’s gone all psycho. We have to do something-“ Draco was cut off by a loud scream.

They spun around, and seen Osiris stride around the corner. A bright red light, shined through the hall. Then a shadowy figure, emerged from around the corner. Wand in hand, slowly walking towards them.

“Is that Hermione?” Ron asked, taking a step back in line with Draco and Harry.

Draco nodded, “Run!” he yelled.

The three boys turned on their heels and ran the opposite way as a curse jet straight past them. She was trying to kill them.

“We have to get to Dumbledore!” Harry said, as they turned to the corridor.

At the end, they seen the stone Gargoyle, protecting Dumbledore’s headquarters. ‘Bertie Botts’ Harry whispered as they reached the monster. It hopped aside and the boys ran past. They didn’t wait for the stairs to happen, they ran up the stairs as the Gargoyle closed behind them.
