Cleansing flame, Fallen Angels and the many faces of truth

10

Draco was ready for this. Everything that head lead to this point ceased to matter, as he was now where he wanted, no, he needed to be. The fire in his gaze frightened evreyone in the room. His face reflected deep hate, all anyone really could gather is, they didn't wanna be here when he decided to strike.

"Get Harry out of here, this fight is mine!" Draco shot from the side of his mouth gritted teeth and his unwavered gaze, let them know to obey. So Hermione and Ron gathered Harry up in their arms and headed to the hospital wing.

Once they were gone, Draco spoke forcibly. "So, you escaped Azkaban. And now, after all this time, you never once learned to live on your feet. Always kneeling to the Dark Lord and his will. I swear, by the end of this night, you will bow TO ME!" Draco shot a spell at his twin who seemed to freeze in place. Draco's eyes still burned and it looked as though the flames in his eyes would consume his whole body.

He shook, all the years of rage reaching a boiling point, as if a dam had burst. Lucius eyed him, fear wasn't present, but awe, at his own son's daring. He thought a moment and grinned at Draco. "You've always been weak, just like your mother." He said icily and smirked at Draco's, now tense expression.

"My mother loved me, even though she followed you, she always protected me." Draco said quickly, as if this was a counter spell to some horrid curse that his father had unleashed. The sudden fear caused his father to stand up straight. "See, even now, words can hurt you and they aren't even magic." His father eyed him casually. "Father." Draco sighed, "I may have suffered your foolishness once, that is not a game I will play this night."

Draco's gaze returned to his father's, stone cold rage could be felt throughout the room. Draco's twin convusled and blood began to trickle from it's mouth. Draco simply continued eyeing the ever confident man who stood before him. "Father, you should know, that I will kill you when it is all said and done. However, before we get to the easy part, could you explain, why a phoenix lives in my head?" Draco's icly cool nature about this subject again, caused Lucius Malfoy to stare in awe.

"So, you know your own secret." Lucius said calmly, comtemplating his next response."Alright, I suppose it's only fair to tell you the truth." Lucius began with a sigh. The expression on his face read that of a very weary man, struggling with the truth that was in his head. It was a few minutes before he spoke, an unusually patient Draco eyed him with confusion, rage, and fear.

"Draco, we always loved you." Lucius eyed Draco's face, searching for his attention. "We developed this other you as a husk, filling it with your hate, anger and lust to kill. We then made an effort to trap the phoenix in your head, giving you the power to beat voldemort." "But that wasn't all, was it?" Draco bit off the last words angrily. "No, once you destroyed Voldemort, we intended to control you, using your power to gain a foothold over the wizarding world. However, Voldemort discovered us, I managed to convince him that we did it for him."

"So, you charmed me, to lock the phoenix away in my head. This was all a brilliant scheme." Draco nodded in what appeared to be an amazed manner. "This husk," He pointed to his twin, why eliminate my bad side in such a way." Draco eyed his father, disgusted. "You should understand that anger and hate are building blocks of rebellion, by removing those particular elements, I could be assured of your manipulation being abosolute." Draco Crossed his arms. "That also became useless, didn't it?" He grinned at his Dad, who shot him defeated glare.

"Yes, once your mind had been so abused, it fragmented, the phoenix refused to be called and I could no longer release her. Your evil side is not so useless as you have seen, it seems that the fact that it lacks a soul makes it the perfect pawn in my plans." Lucius stepped behind Draco's twin and broke the spell Draco had used to freeze it in place. Grinning Lucius eyed both his sons, "Now, Draco, I want to see you fight." With that said both Dracos' snapped into the same fighting stance.

"I am not the boy you think I am father. I shall take care of this knock-off and then I shall take care of..YOU!" With the last word Draco blasted a spell at himself and watched as it blocked the spell without the slightest effort. Draco smiled, "So, a decent opponent." No more words were exchanged as the tension in the room rose to touchable element.

Harry lay in the hospital wing. Ron and Hermione had thought of going back to help, but the man who feared the moon, which happened to be full this night, told them he would be going. They both stayed with Harry, chatting about things quietly, still confused at to what they had seen. "There were two Dracos'." Hermione said in stunned amazement and it still hadn't sunk in these several minutes after arriving in the hospital wing.

Ron simply nodded and tried to make sense of it in his mind. He cared deepily for Harry, but what he had naglected to tell anyone, was how deepily his feelings ran for the blonde, due to something he had seen a couple of years ago. He pushed the memory back and continued to attempt to follow Hermione's rants about what had occured in the library."

~~~~
Draco simply simled, hair now ruffled and face sweaty. His twin wasn't in such high-spirts. A series of short spell exchanges had left his twin broken and bloody. Still though, Draco had to admit, this was the first time he had been challenged where he felt in complete control and yet, wanted it to last.
His other self looked angry. Draco smiled a bit more. "Hey, what's the matter? You look mad. I hope I haven't offended you, but if I have, feel free to do something about it, anytime." He snapped into a fighting stance and fired a few stun spells at his other half. This was easier than getting into Harry's pants.
When he'd had enough, he simply used crucio on his twin, who convusled and then lost conciousness. Draco struggled with his breathing as sweat dripped of his forhead. "So Draco, you think you are ready to face me." His father said calmly. Draco's face straightened and fixed into a glare. "Father, if I face you now, you are no match for me one on one." Luicius chuckled. "Dear boy, who said I was alone?" Lucius waved his hand out and several men in black cloaks surrounded them.
Draco seemed unmoved, if anyone suspected fear, their suspiscions were earased by the deep smirk on his face. Several of the cloaked figures stepped back. "Well." Draco said after a few moments of silence. "Let's get started."
~~~~

Remus could tell from the scents he picked up, that Draco was in trouble. He hurried a bit faster and began to transform as the moonlight streamed through the windows along the corridor. His closed ripped and through each window a stage of the transformation occured. He was soon a full-fledged werewolf and he now ran on all fours tward the scent he was seeking.

'He's already been fighting, I gotta hurry.' His thoughts were clear, thanks to Snape's wolfsbane potion. As he ran into the library he quickly took in the scene of Draco battling the Death-eaters while his father looked on. Remus growled angrily and attacked the three cloaked men closest to him.

~~~~
Draco used Remus's entrance to round up as many of the Death-eaters as he could with a binding spell and then turned to his father. He had a clear path, he could run and get to Harry. It was too late for that now though. He had seen and stood by so long and watched so many die. So many had suffered in his silence. He owed them.
Draco's eyes began to water. He flashed all of his guilt through his mind's eye in an idle second, It was overwhelming. His eyes widened with realization, not fear, he now recognized how much and how many had hurt, including Harry.
As if a gun went off, his body shook with inhuman violence, but from what a stunned Lucius saw, Draco was in control. He watched his son, still as stone waiting for his attack. Draco started grinding his teeth and growling, fire erupted on his skin.
"Father, I watched your evil for so long." Draco said as angry tears escaped the unwiling eyes that shed them. "I will make you pay. No more, Dad. No more." and with a brilliant flash of white fire a battle between Father and Son began.
