Chapter 7: Revealing Lily

Revealing Lily: Chapter 7

Takes place in Narcissa’s private room at the OUBLIETTE. Narcissa and Andromeda are in the room with Ginny.

“OK, what are you going to show me?” asks Ginny as she covertly inspects the tastefully decorated room.

“I believe she’s going to introduce you to me,” replies a voice.

“Who is that?” exclaims Ginny as both Narcissa and Andromeda giggle at her obvious discomfort.

“Excuse me, hey you! Over here in the mirror,” points out the voice once more.

Ginny looks at the two women in the room who are now smirking uncontrollably. “This is weird even for our world…” she whines.

Andromeda trying to control her amusement and doing it badly gently grabs Ginny by the elbow and pulls her in front of a very ornate mirror over a gorgeous vanity.

Suddenly, the image of a young teenage red haired girl appears, but it is not Ginny’s image.

The girl in the mirror studies Ginny closely, while Ginny responds in kind.

Finally, the girl in the mirror introduces herself, “Hello, I am I Lily Anne Evans. Charmed to make your acquaintance. Cissa tells me that you are very talented and you have had occasion to deal with Lord Voldermort at his most seductive,” she finishes.

“I failed. Your son had to rescue me,” stammers Ginny. She does not like to be reminded so belatedly of the events of her First Year.

“Don’t worry, dear. We all have had a Tom Riddle in our life. Some of us have not survived the experience as well as you nor have we learned our lesson. Have we, Cissa???” mentions mirror Lily in an eerily idle tone.

“I don’t know what you are talking about Lily,” feints Narcissa.

“Really, we will have to save that for another conversation. But now to business, you might what to know how come my “persona” is this mirror. Am I correct?” mirror Lily continues.

“It has crossed my mind. I know from working with the Order, that Lord Voldermort broke parts of his soul into pieces and placed the pieces into objects that had meaning to him. These objects are called horcruxes, I believe.” Describes Ginny.

“See, she is quite observant, just like Severus and I told you,” exclaims Narcissa.

Mirror Lily explains, “Yes, I am a horcrux. My mother had the Sight. Before she died, she told me that I would die shortly after the birth of my son by saving his life. Perhaps it was worry over him or even the need to keep some part of myself alive, I don’t know. I created two horcroxes for my best friends, Cissa and Severus. Both would make sure that Harry would always be safe. Plus, I would always be around…”

Ginny interrupts her, “You would always be able to provide input,”

Mirror Lily smiles and says,” You understand perfectly.”

Ginny thinks for a moment. Then after a few seconds of consideration she fingers the owl charm and asks,” Was this yours?”

Narcissa and Andromeda watch this exchange.

“What do you think?” mirror Lily retorts.

“I think that it is more than it appears to be at first glance,” concedes Ginny. She then takes off the charm and hold it at arms length and commands, “Revelio.”

The charm transforms into a heart of pure gold.

Ginny looks at all of them aghast. “Is this what I think it is?”

Mirror Lily coolly explains, “Lord Voldermort made it quite clear to myself and Narcissa that he what us on his side. He gave both of us many “tokens” to try and bribe us.”

Ginny composes herself enough to sit down on the vanity’s little chair. She finally manages to find her voice, “You all have been playing both sides.”

“Of course, Riddle or Lord Voldermort is not into self-hatred. Killing muggles is a rallying point for the rabble he convinces to follow him. As for Dumbledore, well he has just as much blood on his beard as Riddle has on his hands. Personally, I find their issues rather disquieting,” comments mirror Lily.

“Your son is not the avid believer that everyone would like him to be,” admits Ginny.

“Thank Merlin. He has some of my instincts. Now if we can get your brother and Cissa’s son to get along things should move far smoother,” focuses mirror Lily.

“I can’t agree more, my dear,” starts Narcissa. She continues, “You must be patient with Draco. He has two handicaps in all of this. One, he grew up with all of this nonsense of having to “maintain an image”. He will grow out of that. And two, and he gets this from both sides of the family…he is obnoxiously stubborn.”

Andromeda interjects, “Yes, but less stubborn than his father. He can be trained my girl.”

Ginny thinks for a moment. Then she asks,” Anything else?”

For a moment, the whole room is deathly quiet. Then both Nacissa and mirror Lily say at exactly the same time, “No nothing at all.”

Ginny starts thinking, “Yea, right.”
