Chapter Ten

Passing all the pictures on the wall
Counting all the stairs I know them all
Knowing there is nothing left to say
take her by the hand and lead the way
and lead the way for when she comes

she wants all the world to know
she calls my name, she calls my name and she never lets me go
have all my efforts found the way?
have all my efforts gone astray?
Waiting by the closet down the hall,
I can see her shadow on the wall
All of this for a bum like me
beauty only for my eyes to see

And I can see it when she comes,
she wants all the world to know
she calls my name and she never lets me go
Have all my efforts found the way?
have all my efforts gone astray?
Feel all the pieces falling right back into place
feel all emotions dripping down into my face
And all the love I know she feels for me
I can feel it when she comes
When she comes she wants all the world to know
she calls my name and she never lets me go
have all my efforts found the way?
have all my efforts gone astray?

When she comes- By- Blessid Union of Souls

Draco and Virginia apparated back to the camp and Virginia immediately contacted the ministry about the capture of Tom. Virginia wanted to keep him at their camp for questioning, as they'd done with dozens of other prisoners, but the Ministry had other ideas. They thought that Tom was too important a prisoner and should be turned over to them as soon as they could arrange safe transport, which would likely be within a day or two. Although she wasn't happy about it, she was mollified by the fact that she'd at least have him in her power for a while. After being under his power for so long, in one way or another, the idea that the tables would be turned was a heady sensation for her.

When she returned to their tent, where Draco had gone to shower and change clothes, she was greeted by her brother. When he told her that everything had gone well and that Tom was safely imprisoned within the camp, she finally allowed herself to relax. Ron was just telling her that Harry was with the medic and he'd be fine in a few days when Blaise came rushing in. Virginia struggled to maintain a neutral expression, as images of the last time she'd seen the girl flashed through her mind. Just then Draco came out of the little bathroom at the back, wearing a towel wrapped around his waist. Virginia was about to make an excuse and leave, the last thing she wanted was to see Blaise and Draco's no doubt passionate reunion. She had opened her mouth to make her excuse, when Blaise rushed not to Draco, but her brother, and gave him the kind of kiss that only lovers exchange. Her mouth stayed open in shock, as she looked at Draco, to see what he thought of this. A small smile and a tiny shake of his head was the only reaction he gave as he regarded the two. There was absolutely no shock in his expression. Because it didn't seem like Draco was going to say it and she was deeply confused, she blurted out," What the hell is going on?"

Blaise and Ron broke apart, the dark haired girl turning anxious eyes towards Virginia. She really loved Ron and she knew that his family was important to him; it mattered a great deal to her that she make a good impression. "Ron and I are together, we really care a lot about each other and I.."

Virginia interrupted her," How the hell can you be together when you were just fucking Draco two days ago?" She turned to Draco before Blaise could answer. "And what about you? You don't seem to mind, and you sure as hell don't seem surprised."

"I'm not surprised. I found them shortly after you disappeared. And no, I don't mind at all. Blaise and I didn't have any commitments to each other. We were both acting as substitutes for someone else." At this he looked her square in the eye and she swallowed hard at his next words. "I'm glad that she, at least, has finally gotten to be with the one she loves."

A long silence followed these words, which was finally broken as Blaise told Ron that they were needed back at their camp immediately. He started to protest, put she ignored him, practically dragging him out of the tent. Virginia twisted her fingers together nervously and started to turn and leave, but Draco's words stopped her. "We need to talk."

"Well, I um.. I'm sure it could wait until you're dressed," she said making a vague gesture at him, her eyes darting around the room.

He stepped forward raising her head with his hand, forcing her to meet his eyes. "No. It can't wait. I can't wait any fucking longer."

She stepped back, nervously pacing throughout the tent. She knew what he was going to say. And she was afraid. She didn't want to do anything to risk their friendship, it was too important to her, but she wanted him, wanted to be with him so badly. When she'd been drinking and had decided that she wanted to change her relationship with Draco, she hadn't been thinking of the risks. But she was thinking of them now. "I know what you're going to say. I know what you want, I want it too. But we can't. I can't take the risk of losing our friendship, I love you and it would kill me to lose you." She looked up at him, and she couldn't bear the hurt that flashed across his face.

He closed his eyes a moment and when he opened them there was determination in them. He walked to her until their bodies were almost touching. "You could never lose my friendship. Never. No matter what either of us does, we'll always be friends. I promise you. "

She started to protest, but he interrupted.

"I love you... and I want to be with you in every way. I want to know every part of you. And I want you to know every part of me. I don't want to share you with anyone else, I want to be yours and I want you to be mine." He reached up, grabbing her arms, his towel fell to the ground, and he made no move to retrieve it.

She drew in a breath, and looked at him. He seemed so vulnerable standing in front of her, vulnerable in his nakedness and in the raw emotion in his eyes. Suddenly it didn't seem so scary for her to take that step, he was risking just as much as she was. She closed the relatively small distance between them, laying her hand lightly on his chest. She knew that after this they could never go back to the way things were. Their friendship would be irrevocably changed. But she thought it would be changed for the better. She ran her hand lightly down his arm, touching her lips briefly to his, and stepped back. He watched her silently, his face betraying nothing. She slowly removed her robes and the rest of her clothes followed. They stood there for a moment, and they just looked at each other. Then they both took a step forward and their lips met in a soft kiss. Draco's tongue tentatively begged entrance to her mouth and she obliged it, opening her mouth slightly and meeting his tongue with hers. Their tongues slid languidly across each other, as they explored each other's bodies with their hands. Draco broke the kiss, running his mouth down the side of her neck and further until he reached her breast. He dropped to his knees, and looking up into her eyes, he slowly licked a path around the edge of her aureole, before taking her nipple into his mouth and sucking on it lightly. She tilted her head back slightly and her body tightened as little arrows of pleasure raced through her. His hand which had been caressing her buttocks, slipped down through her red curls to lightly stroke her. Her hand, which had been tangling in his hair, tightened and she moaned his name quietly. He looked up at her, smiling as he removed his mouth from her breast and with a slow progression of kisses and bites on her stomach, brought it to where his hand had been. She let out another moan when he licked torturously slow along the slit where her lips met. When his mouth reached her clitoris and he probed it with his tongue she felt her knees weaken and she put her hand on his shoulder to steady herself. He nibbled and sucked and the pleasure built and built until with a particularly hard suck on her clitoris, she reached that dizzying climax of pleasure, gasping out his name. She started to slide, as if boneless, to the floor, but he caught her laying her gently down on the bed. It took her a few moments to get her breath back, as Draco lay over her smiling and stroking her leg. When she finally did, she reached down between their bodies, lightly running her hand along his erection, delighting in watching pleasure darken his eyes. She rose up slightly, pushing him off of her and onto his back. Much as he had done she licked and bit her way down his body, stopping to give the proper attention to his nipples, before continuing lower. She ran her tongue along one side of his penis while she stroked the other with her hand, both meeting at the head. She looked up at him and their eyes stayed steady on each other as she slowly slid her mouth down over him, her hand lightly fondling his balls. Throwing his head back he let out a moan and arched his back, drowning in the sensations. After a few moments, he sat up pulling her up for a kiss, before panting out," I want to be inside you." He flipped her over on her back and as she drew her knees up, he slowly inch by inch sank himself deep inside of her. When he was completely inside, her tight walls squeezing around him causing him to tremble with pleasure, he kissed her lightly, his hand shaking as he gently stroked her face, "I love you."

She looked into his grey eyes, and they were so close, closer than they'd ever been before. She could see the little flecks of yellow and green, and the unguarded emotion in them, the love in them, made her breath stop in her throat for a moment. "I love you," she said, trying to put into her eyes what she saw in his. All the love she felt, the happiness, the rightness, all the feelings she couldn't put adequately into words, things that a mere I love you couldn't convey. He closed his eyes in relief, as he felt the anxiety that had been tight in his chest loosen and fade away. She loved him. He opened his eyes, smiling and letting out a little laugh, as he bent down and kissed her. The feeling of elation that rushed through her when she heard his happy little laugh, was indescribable. She'd never seen him so happy, and she'd never been so happy. He reached down and clasped their hands together as he slowly started to move inside of her. Their pace which, at first was slow, as they languished in the wonderous pulsing pleasure, quickened and they finished in a furiously fast and passionate jarring of bodies, ending in a simultaneous and powerful climax. As their bodies went lax and they started to slip off to sleep, both thoroughly exhausted, their last thoughts were in accord. It was perfect. Everything was perfect now.

Virginia woke slowly, smiling as she felt warm arms around her. She burrowed further into his warmth, placing a kiss on his neck and stroking the soft skin of his arm, as she started to fall back to sleep. At the sound of ragged breathing, which wasn't coming from either of them, she turned quickly to grab her wand, but not quickly enough.

"Accio wands," Tom spat out as Draco and Virginia's wand flew into his outstretched hand.

At Tom's voice Draco sat up abruptly, his grip tightening on her when he saw who it was.

He just stood there for a moment, his knuckles white around their wands, and the hatred in his eyes so fierce it was almost palatable. "Stand up," he said quietly, looking at Draco. Virginia moved her hand to the side of her bedroll, unobtrusively grasping hold of the knife that she always kept there, as Draco slowly stood.

He raised his wand and without preamble started to say," Avada Ke.."

"No," she said standing in front of Draco, the cold steel of the knife chilling her wrist, as she made sure to keep it hidden.

Tom's wand lowered for a second as he looked at her, standing naked in front of him.

She walked toward him, she had to take her chance when he was distracted. When she was a foot away from him, he tore his gaze away from her body, and met her eyes. He seemed to come back to himself, and he raised his wand again, pointing it over her shoulder at Draco. He again started to say the death curse, but this time she stopped him in a much more effective and permanent way. He dropped his wand and looked down in shock at the knife that was buried deep in his stomach. Her breathing was rapid and shallow as she looked at the knife and the blood seeping out around it. She quickly removed her blood-stained hand from the handle and stepped back, a kind of dull horror in her eyes, and a sadness for what she'd had to do. He stood there for a moment looking at her, shock clearly written across his face. But the shock slid into a kind of eerie acceptance, as he realized that he was dying and there was nothing he could do. He reached down and pulled the knife out, letting it drop to the floor. He grasped her arms lightly and pulled their bodies together. She could feel his blood dripping a warm path down her naked belly, and for a moment she couldn't breathe. Tom blinked his eyes slowly and she could see the strength, and the life seeping out of him. He took her face into his hands, pressing a feather-light kiss to her lips. "I love you, Virginia. I still love you. I'm sorry I couldn't be what you wanted. But never doubt that I loved you in my way, as much and as well as I could," he whispered, his eyes begging for understanding as he wove slightly.

She looked up into his face, the face that had haunted her dreams for the past five years. A young face, he was barely older than herself, just a boy really. She'd never confused him with Voldemort. No, he'd always been Tom to her. Tom who for a brief period in her life had been a friend to her, the last person she'd shared all her secrets with, such as they'd been. And she knew him, as much as he knew her. He'd told her things in her dreams. And she knew he loved her. Not in a healthy way, but even at the young age he'd been when he'd made the diary, his experiences had already twisted his mind. And some small part of her felt sorry for him. Sorry for the pain he'd suffered at the hands of the muggles. Sorry for the great person he might have become, if not for the uncaring hand of fate which had formed him into what he was. And some very small part of her loved him, had always loved him. Not in the same way she loved Draco. But a love of what he'd once been to her, before she'd found he was using her. She'd loved him fully and unguardedly as only a child could. He'd been a friend to her once. And she felt a tear roll down her cheek, a tear for that lost friend. And when he grasped her face weakly, and asked with a desperation only the dying have, "Forgive me?", she let herself forgive. She forgave him in memory of the friend he'd once been to her. She looked out of tear-blurred eyes and said softly," I forgive you." And it was freeing to say it. She let go all of the unhappiness and the bitterness, let go of all the fears and mistrust his betrayal had left her with, and as he smiled slightly and collapsed against her, his eyes unblinking, she let it all die with him.

She lowered him to the ground and lightly drew her fingers across his eyelids with a tenderness she'd never shown him in life, shutting so much more than just the lifeless orbs that had shown her so many different emotions and engendered so many within her over the years. She released all of the bad memories, the emotional scars that had so affected how she'd lived her life, how she'd trusted and loved others. She kept only the good memories he'd given her, those feelings of uninhibited love she'd felt for those short weeks, of total acceptance. She decided to remember him the way she'd seen him as a child: a magnificent wizard, who'd loved her completely, loved her for who she was. She turned to Draco, saw the understanding and acceptance in his eyes, and she felt love for him swell through her. A love unfettered by the fear and mistrust that had been within her for so long. And she felt happiness, true happiness, for the first time.
