part 10

Title: Move heaven and earth~ part ten

Warnings and notes: This is a slash fic, which means that it involves two guys having strong feelings for anotanother (and sex). This is your only warning; so if you do not like reading about two men in love, then don’t read. Go read some other fic. Do not harass the author, please. And there is some strong language in here!

Note that this is the sequel to Protégé. Must read Protégé first before you read this so you can understand what’s going on.

More notes: Many things are going to happen in this sequel. So, if you don’t understand anything right away, just wait for it to be clarified later ok?

Special thanks goes to my lovely beta readers LadyViolet, Fallenangel and my friend Brandy.

Contents: This fic will contain A LOT of Slash, humor, sap, drama, angst, adventure (let’s hope), and lemon. And of course magic.

Pairings: Draco/Harry, Ron/Hermione, Remus/Sirius, Ginny/Cho

Year: 6th

Disclaimer: I do NOT own any of these characters! J.K. Rowlings is the wonderful person who does, and I wish her luck with her next book. I have finished book 4!

Do not, I repeat, do NOT hate me for this chapter! things will get explained. . . have patience. (And please don’t flame me too badly ^_^)

Now I know why I hide my love from you some days

No, I don’t mind keeping this bottled inside me

You came along and tore this wall down around me

Looks like you found me. . . now I know why

I felt like shit when I woke up this morning

As the days gone by, Harry had been trying to get Draco’s attention. For some odd reason, he suddenly went back to being his old self, relying on Crabbe and Goyle’s company and staying as far away from Harry as possible. This was tearing Harry apart. It felt at ast as bad as when he had seen Cedric die. He didn’t know what he did wrong, or if he said the wrong thing to him. Harry didn’t even know if he and Draco were still together, for Draco never spoke of a break up.

“He’s dealing with the pain of losing his mother.” Hermione told him. “Maybe he needs his space for a while.”

“Yeah, but. . . two weeks?”

At that, Hermione shrugged. She didn’t know what to tell him. Ron was just as stumped, but then kept saying to him that he deserved better and that he needed to find himself a girl. Harry wasn’t too pleased with his friend’s ideas and they had gotten themselves into fights over it.

“Are you sure he really loves you?” Ron had said. “Maybe it was some kind of fluke or a lust thing.”

“Then how do you explain the Power Surge? Dumbledore said that it was based on love.”

This stumped Ron. So now, Harry had two stumped friends. “Forget it.” Harry said after a bit of silence, “I’ll try talking to him later.”

And now it was later, and Harry scanned the Great Hall for his so-called boyfriend that evening. They were having one of Draco’s favorite foods tonight and he knew that Draco wouldn’t pass up the chance to eat.

Just as predicted, Draco entered the Hall along with his two goons, Crabbe and Goyle. The Slytherin looked a mess and this made Harry’s heart sink. He ate on in silence with his two friends sitting by him and Dean, Seamus, Neville, and Lavender sitting in front of them. Ginny was sitting by Ron and she kept looking back at the Ravenclaw table to glance at Cho. Harry tried not to notice and began to plan on how to get Draco away from his brute squad and alone with him.

Finally dinner was over with, and Harry watched Draco and his henchmen get up and start to walk toward the dungeons. Harry stood up quickly and ran to catch up to them. Ron and Hermione watched him go, having an idea of what their friend was going to do.

“Hey.” Harry said, catching up to Draco and the other two Slytherins. All three of them halted and then slowly turned around. Draco had a very annoyed look on his face.

“What is it, Potter?” Draco sneered.

Harry glared at him, “Don’t give me that crap, Draco. I want to talk to you.”

“So talk. Whatever you have to say to me you can say in front of Greg and Vincent.”

Harry rolled his eyes, “Oh please. I don’t think that they would like to hear me spilling my heart to you or anything really mushy like that.”

“I wouldn’t want you to either.” Draco scoffed. “Just go away, ok Potter?”

“That’s it then? It’s over? Even though we have a Power Surge you still don’t want to be with me?”

“You are slow, aren’t you?” Draco laughed.

“Our ‘Surge is based on love, Draco. How can you just. . . just throw it all away? A Power Surge can’t be broken, from what I’ve heard. No matter what you say to me, or to yourself, you still love me.”

Crabbe and Goyle laughed as Draco stuck his finger down his throat. “That is very sappy stuff, Potter. But you see, you are not thinking clearly. If my father ever taught me anything, it’s quit while you’re ahead. Do you really want my father to find out how much you mean to me, that we have a Power Surge? You know he’ll come to kill me.”

“I won’t let that happen! I’ll protect you.”

Draco snorted. “Oh, I see, you’re trying to return the favor, aren’t you? Well, I’m sorry but you can’t protect me from this.”

“Now *you* are being dense! Don’t you remember that our Power Surge makes us more powerful? It is love that wields it!”

“Yes, but will that prevent us from getting killed? Not only by my father, but by Lord Voldemort?”

Harry wasn’t sure what to say. He always thought that their powers would be able to stop anything and anyone, including Voldemort. Apparently, Draco wasn’t thinking in this way, and it made Harry’s heart hurt.

“Look, Draco. . . I want to protect you. You. . . you know how I feel about you.”

“Stop with the mushy stuff already, Potter. I don’t want to hear it.”

Draco started to turn around, but Harry stopped him. “Hey. Are we still. . . together? Are you still my boyfriend?”

It was about a minute before Draco said, “As of right now, we are neither enemies nor lovers. Good night, Potter.”

Harry watched them disappear into the dungeons for a while before he collapsed onto the floor, his hand clutching his heart. Was the Power Surge being affect by this? It hurt so much.

Right when Draco entered the common room, Snape was standing there waiting for him. Draco raised a brow at this.

“Mr. Crabbe, Mr. Goyle, please retire for the night. I must speak to Draco.”

The two goons did as they were told, and once they were gone, Snape motioned for Draco to sit down. Draco sat with curiosity. He wondered briefly if Crabbe and Goyle had squealed on him about his revenge on Pansy.

“What is it, sir?” Draco asked.

Snape took out a letter. He looked down at it and then up at Draco. “Dumbledore wishes to speak to you. I have a feeling I know what it is about too.”

Draco gulped, thinking that Snape knew about what he did to Pansy. Well, Draco tried to heal her enough so that it looked like she just accidentally tripped and fell into the fireplace, or into a tree, or somng, ng, and then brought her to Madam Pomfrey. He crossed his fingers and hoped for the best.

“What do you think it’s about?” Draco dared to ask.

Snape looked like he was going to ask Draco to drop them and bend over his knee, like father did. But instead, Professor Snape said, “It has to do with the students that you put that Unforgivable curse on.”

“Oh. Well, they started it. They were going to use the Cruciatus Curse on me, and even the Imperius curse.”

“Don’t tell mell ill it to the Headmaster.”

Draco nodded his head.

“Good. Now go see Professor Dumbledore. The password today is Sponge Bars.”

Draco nodded again, and then left the Slytherin common room.

~*~

It was the year to be visiting the Headmaster, Draco mused. This was the second or third time he had been here.

Draco said the password, watched the gargoyle statue move, and then made his way up to the top of the stairs. Draco shook slightly as he knocked on the door. He heard the old wizard tell him to enter, and then Draco slowly slipped inside.

“You wanted to see me?” Draco drawled.

“Yes, yes, come in, Draco.” Dumbledore smiled.

Draco carefully walked over to sit in a chair in front of Dumbledore’s desk. He looked around, noticing the Phoenix in the corner, the Sorting Hat, and a cabinet that seemed to be emitting some kind of glow.

Draco tried to keep his eyes off of everything and pay attention to the Headmaster in front of him, who was looking rather amused by the way he was acting.

“Sir, I think I know what this is about, and I assure you that what I have done can be justifiable.”

Dumbledore raised an eyebrow, “Oh? You’re sure?”

“Yes. Um, you see, I was just minding my own business, walking in the dungeons. . .”

Professor Dumbledore held up a hand to silence him. “It’s ok, you don’t hto sto say anything. I know what happened. I know all about the students that have become Death Eaters. Professor Snape has been keeping an eye on them. He’s also been using them for information.”

Draco nodded. “Ok, so then, I’m not going to Azkaban?”

“No. I didn’t call you in here because of that. It’s a major subject, but that’s not what I wanted to talk to you about.”

“Um, ok. So what is it?” Draco gripped the hem of his robes nervously.

“It’s about your boyfriend.”

Draco’s eyes fell. “Well, sir, you see. . . me and Potter. . .”

“I know how hard it is to be in love with someone and tell them that you don’t care. I think I know why you’re doing this, but it is not the answer.”

“Then what is? Getting killed over something silly like love? I have dealt with being away from Potter before and I can do it again.”

“A Power Surge doesn’t work that way. The two of you will start to feel a pull toward each other if ytay tay away too long. All I ask is that you give love a try. I know that it can be very harsh to lose a loved one. . .” Dumbledore stopped, looked over at a blank picture hanging on the wall next to him. A familiar face suddenly appeared in the frame, along with the Hufflepuff colors. Draco recognized the person right away. It was the Hogwarts’ second (or tied, however you looked at it) champion. “One must cherish what they have before it’s too late.”

Draco could feel himself crumble, but he quickly built the walls back up. He couldn’t afford to lose face in front of the Headmaster now. Deep down inside, Draco knew that Dumbledore was right. He should march up to Harry, grab the sides of his face and give him the biggest, wettest kiss he’d ever gave him.

But something still stirred within his stomach. That something was the same thing that had forced Draco to place the Protection spell on Harry months ago, that thing was something that only Harry feared. . . it was fear. Draco was afraid. wasnwasn’t sure what he was more afraid of, but it was there in the pit of his bowels. It churned as he stood up and he gulped.

“Sorry, Professor Dumbledore, but I have to go my own way. I need to. I can’t think of any other way.”

“I’m sorry to hear that.” Dumbledore said, looking sad. “Your Power Surge will be affected by this strange turn of events. If you ever get the urge to be near Harry, don’t hesitate, it will only get worse. The love you have for each other binds you lio oto other could. Be careful.”

Draco couldn’t stand to hear any more, so he turned and walked out.

When Draco came back to the Slytherin dorms, Crabbe and Goyle were still awake. They looked like they were talking about something important when he walked in, because they stopped talking.

“So, what did Dumby-dore have to say?” Goyle asked, laughing.

“He just wanted to talk to me about Potter. You know,on’ton’t think that anyone really gets it. I’m not IN LOVE with Potter. This Power Surge we have was something of an oddity, but it really has nothing to do with TRUE love. If it did, wouldn’t me and Potter have fell in love at first sight or something? Isn’t that how it goes?” Draco flopped himself down onto his bed.

“You know, Draco, everyone still thinks that you two are madly in love. Maybe you should prove to themerwierwise?”

Draco sat up to stare at Goyle, “What do you mean by that?”

Gregory shrugged, “Just that I keep hearing about how much you love Potter and how much Potter is head over heels for you. . . I think that you should do something about it, in front of everyone, just to prove that you *don’t* love him and that you haven’t changed.”

Draco’s look turned positively evil. “You know what? You might be on to something.” He got back up, put on his pajamas, and then settled himself down into bed. “First thing I do when I see him at breakfast I will prove once and for all that I don’t have any kind of feelings for him. It is an object that I can hurdle, surely.”

“Yeah. You go, Draco!” Crabbe said.

“After all,” Draco grumbled to himself, “I already used two of the Unforgivable curses against someone (a person). Why not make it three?”

~*~

True to his word, the next day at breakfast, Draco wandered into the Great Hall and looked for Harry.

Harry was sitting between Weasley and Granger, stuffing his face full of sausage. Draco felt his Power Surge vibrate at the sight of him. It had been a long while since they had been near one another, and it had been even longer since they have touched. Draco could feel it burning inside of him, but he gathered up all of his willpower and squashed the feeling down. Now was not the time to get sentimental. With his wand in hand, Draco marched over to the Gryffindor table, his two goons following closely behind.

Hermione had her nose in a book, trying to ignore Ron who kept trying to get her attention. They had themselves another fight, as usual. This time Harry decided to stay out of it. Last time he tried to get them to talk, he had to break up their little spat. There was no fists flying, it was just that they were yelling at each other so badly that ioneione had tears in her eyes, and if it was one thing that Harry couldn’t stand, it was a girl crying.

“Please, Hermione, I said I sor sorry.” Ron said, pouting. Hermione ignored him again.

Ginny was sitting next to Hermione, looking back and forth at her brother and her friend. “Come on, ‘Mione, he said he was sorry.”

“Not good enough.” Hermione said quickly.

“What do you want me to do, get down on my knees?” Ron asked.

Hermione pretended to think about it. “Hmm. . . it sounds nice, but still. . .”

“I’ll make it up to you, I promise!” Ron almost sounded like he was begging. This amused Harry so much he chuckled, not realizing who had just walked up to them.

“Well, well, look at what we have here.” Draco drawled. “Three blind mice.”

Harry, Ron, and Hermione looked up, confused. Draco ordered for Crabbe and Goyle to remove the three people that were sitting in front of Ron, Harry, and Hermione. The two goons shooed the other three Gryffindors away, and Draco took a seat in front of Harry.

“What do you want?” Ron asked, clearly annoyed.

“I am not talking to you.” Draco sneered. He looked over at Harry and narrowed his eyes, “I’m here to settle something once and for all.”

Harry narrowed his eyes right back, “Wha you you mean?”

Draco stood up and whipped out his wand. “I’m here to show you all that love is meaningless. It’s kin kind of twisted, sick joke that deprives us of our money on Valentine’s Day and forces us to breed. Not that we would ever breed, mind, but still. . . it’s a joke. Two men, wizards, falling in love and having some kind of weird Magical connection as well? It’s all very humorous, don’t you think?”

Harry raised an eyebrow, “What are you trying to say, Draco?”

“I’m saying that it’s not worth it. Love is just another stupid human emotion that forces us to act in really silly ways. Haven’t you heard what I just said, or are you that naive?” He pointed his wand at Harry. “I’m here to end the thread of the stupid emotion. I don’t need it.”

Harry stood up, eyes straining to stay dry as he looked into Draco’s cold and pain filled ones. “Love is the most powerful thing in the universe. Everyone needs it, even you.”

Draco pointed his wand at Harry’s heart. “Shall I prove you wrong, Potter?”

Everyone was gaping at the sight. Draco really wasn’t going to. . . was he?

Harry glared, “I don’t think you will.”

Draco smirked, “Oh? Why is that? Do you really think love can save you all the time, Potter? Think you’re invincible because your mother had sacrificed herself to save you? Well, guess what? There’s no sacrifice here. . . no protection from Mummy, is there?”

“Draco. . .” Harry’s eyes were still strong but his heart was beating like crazy, pounding in pain. “You don’t want to kill me.”

“You think that I love you, Potter? Is that it? You think I will grieve if you die?” He stabbed his wand into Harry’s chest to emphasis.

“I know that you love me, Draco. I can see it clearly in the way you look at me, in your body language when you touch me, the beating of our Power Surge. . . which is pulsing right now, as we speak. You won’t kill me.”

“You’re not invincible, Harry Potter! And you don’t rule my heart!”

“Draco, please. . . I love you.”

“Avada Kedavra!”

A bright greenish light burst out of Draco’s wand, ing ing Harry directly in the chest. Harry fell to the floor, lifeless.

Hermione and Ron ran to Harry’s body, thinking that there was a slight chance that he had made it like he did when he was a baby. Hermione placed two fingers on the side of Harry’s neck.

“I don’t. . . I don’t feel a pulse. . .” She murmured.

Ron looked up into Draco’s horrified eyes, looking like he was about to kill.

It’ll get fixed! I promise!
