The Department of Mysteries was dimly lit by the blue torches giving off an unreal and eerie light. The aisles in this section of the Ministry of Magic were numerous and tall and quite dusty. She and the others were to locate row ninety-seven and set up the ambush for the Potter boy. He and possibly his companions as well would be arriving shortly. So far the plan had worked and the Dark Lord would soon have his hands on the prophecy concerning that boy. The Potter boy would not escape, not this time.
She would be sure of that.
As she examined the shelves of row ninety-n, sn, she located the glass sphere and read its yellowing label. This was the one and young Potter himself would be picking it up shortly.
As the other Death Eaters prepared for the Potter boy’s arrival, she turned her attention to the labels of the other spheres on nearby shelves. Cordelia Ruben, Henry Foxworth, Harrison Draconis, and…
What was this?
She reached up to wipe off the old label for a better look as she gave the tag a double-take. She was in disbelief as she read the name. It was her name there, clearly marking the glass orb above it as her own. Her own prophecy with her name plainly indicated below it: Bellatrix Lestrange.
She instinctively grabbed the sphere and held it in her hands. A faint orange glow emanated from its center, sparking her curiosity. She would not be able to wait to hear its contents so she hastily strode to the far end of the row, out of the sight and hearing distance of the others. She looked around quickly to make sure that she was alone before she smashed the glass ball on the floor. White smoke rose from the shards and she leaned down to hear the raspy whisper.
“The very flesh of her flesh will be the one to destroy the lady at the right hand of the Dark Lord. The flesh of her flesh, born at the birth of the eighth month and equal to the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord. This girl-child will be born of the daughter who will turn from the mother of darkness to the wolf of the full moon.”
To her own horror, Bellatrix Lestrange knew precisely what these words meant.
As soon as this business with the Potter boy was done, she knew exactly where she must go and what she must do.
She must find and kill her granddaughter.
