Chapter 1

The story behind this piece of fiction is my own work and so is the original character(s) – the characters and locations you recognise from JK Rowling however are not owned by me and are only borrowed for use in this fiction and I am earning no money from writing or publishing this – I write this purely for my own entertainment and yours and because I love the originals they are based upon so much.

Although it contains no sex in the first chapters it will come ... this is NOT a PWP, and it is NOT Mary Sue, reserve your judgement on my original character before you judge her!

This fiction is set several years after the war, in my universe some of the outcomes of the war have been changed and it does not follow the ‘epilogue’.

Bound In Time

Chapter 1

Since the War that tore apart the wizarding world there had been many changes throughout the wizarding world, some subtle, some not so subtle. Many peoples status in life had changed in the way only something traumatic can change you.

One of the people irrevocably changed – and it surprised people by the change being for the better, but many stated it could hardly be for the worse – was Lucius Malfoy.

He still held a position in the Ministry of Magic, he now provided information on the remaining dark wizards, advised on their practices and how they would conceal their dark magical artefacts.

It was this role which brought him to the Ministry that morning…

****
Lucius Malfoy stood looking as elegant and commanding as ever as he stood in the lobby of the Ministry of Magic, he was talking to a short squat wizard who looked somewhat harried and stressed.

“The room was where I described it would be?” Lucius asked.

“Yes sir, just as you informed, here is a list of all the items we found in there…”

The other wizard handed Lucius a scroll of parchment, as Lucius unwound it he found it was a very long scroll of parchment.

“Interesting, very interesting, it appears that Parkinson had items of which even I was not aware. I will peruse this and drop by the departme….”

Lucius did not finish what he was saying; he was distracted by a woman who was walking towards him.

She was not overly tall, probably about to his shoulders in height, she was not skinny, definitely not as thin as his ex wife had been, to some she might have even been considered overweight, but to him she looked very good, very luscious.

She wore a cream silk blouse which was unbuttoned one button too low for wearing in the Ministry, with this she wore a high waist black pinstripe pencil skirt which fell to just above her ankle. The skirt was tight, emphasising her small waist and skimming her femininely rounded hips and then tapering back in again, it was so tight that she was taking rather small steps, which merely served to make her hips sway as she walked.

Moving his eyes back to her face, she was darker skinned than him, she had a somewhat exotic look, her eyes were extremely dark, from here he could not even see if they bore any colour other than black. They were an intriguing almond shape which was emphasised by the hint of kohl she wore around her eyes; combined with thick lashes they were to coin a phrase ‘bewitching’. She wore no other makeup other than deep blood red lipstick. Her hair was bolt straight and hung to just beneath her shoulders where it was very bluntly cut as was the fringe which frame her eyes by being cut in a sharp straight line sitting about level with her eyebrows, the most startling thing about her hair was the fact it was an extremely bright shade of red.

Rather alarmingly she was walking through the lobby whilst reading a book which she was holding just in front of her, and she never once looked up from her task. So she was now walking directly at Lucius and was sure to walk into him, Lucius considered for barely a second to step out of her way, but a larger portion of his mind decided to let her walk into him merely so that he would be in contact with her deliciously curvaceous body.

He was disappointed however when merely two steps away from him she veered to the left and without breaking her stride or even looking up she just walked right on past him, still reading.

Lucius followed her with his eyes as she passed him and noted with a smile that the long straight skirt she wore was actually split right up the back and he caught the very slightest glimpse of the stop of her stocking and the merest hint of thigh above this. Letting his eyes wander lower again he followed the fine line which ran down the back of her legs, ending in a Cuban heel which peeked out of her kitten heeled black shoes.

Closing his eyes he smiled to himself as he inhaled the soft sweet aroma of Jasmine which followed her like a heavenly cloud of scent.

“Mr Malfoy…” the short wizard broke into his thoughts and he realised that he had actually been mid conversation prior to seeing the woman who had captivated his attention for what felt like an eternity but was in truth the merest of seconds. “You were saying sir?” Lucius found he was actually annoyed with this wizard from breaking his reverie.

“Yes, yes” he snapped impatiently “if you wish I will drop by the department and inspect all of these items before anyone else examines them, many dark artefacts will curse anyone without a …” he looked down at the sleeve which hid the dark mark which he still bore on his forearm; although it was fading with time. ‘If only the stain on his soul would also fade over time’ he mused to himself.

“Yes sir, I will ensure they are all in a safe room so that you might examine them, thank you.” The little man bowed obsequiously and walked away.

Lucius watched the man leave and wondered just how long people would still continue to fear him. He had realised the folly of following Voldemort late, but not too late, he had in the end fought on the side of the Order, even so far as shielding Harry Potter from an Avada Kedavra curse which was fired at him as he fired the curse which killed Voldemort.

It had taken him a long time to realise that Voldemort was in fact merely an insane wizard with bigoted ideals. Lucius had negated the fact that Voldemort was himself a mudblood which he despised so much. Lucius had been brought up with similar rhetoric all throughout his life, but he had realised how different he was to Voldemort when he had witnessed then man take pureblood life with no more compunction than when he killed a muggle or mudblood, and then he had set his demented sights on Draco.

Lucius of course was not prepared to standby and let this insane creature take the life of his own son and had therefore switched sides as the curtain rose on that final day of the war.

Since then he had systematically set about punishing those who had stood by as Voldemort had tortured Lucius for his errors with the Diary and then later the Prophecy… of course these days Lucius was punishing them by revealing their whereabouts to the Ministry of Magic and ensuring that all their items of dark magic were brought into the light of day.

They would all pay for jeering as the Dark Lord became even more twisted and inhuman and was turning on his own brethren; they were all cowards who had been too afraid to stand against a madman whilst they still felt themselves to be safe. Of course the irony of this was not lost on Lucius, but he was too angry to care.

Giving himself a mental shake he turned on his heel and apparated back home to Malfoy Manor, wondering to himself just who the woman had been, he knew everyone at the Ministry of Magic, from the highest levels to the very lowest, one never knew when someone might come in handy. But this woman he had never seen before, or had he? There was something about her that struck a chord with him, but he could not place her.
