The War’s End
With a crash like thunder the clearing in the forbidden forest seem to stop all motion and Harry seem to come back to reality taking in the circle of stunned death eaters and his best friend Hermione who was tied with thick ropes to a nearby tree after he had told her to stay back at the castle to help the wounded and fight the battle there she had disobeyed him and followed him here where she had be promptly caught and tied to the tree which he assumed if he had died they would then torture and kill Hermione since she wasn’t “pure” being a muggle born witch. Harry stood over the lifeless body of his lifelong enemy Lord Voldemort finally realizing that he was free after 17 years of fearing for his very life Harry was finally rid of the man who had destroyed his entire life and took away his chance of knowing what a true loving family felt like.
Still panting heavily from the exertion of battle he lowered his wand just a fraction prepared to take on any Death Eater in the clearing once they had fully grasped what they had just witnessed. The next thing he felt from behind him was the familiar body weight of someone pushing him to the ground, a jet of green sparks shot just a few inches above their falling heads as they fell which shocked Harry he hadn’t heard anyone utter a spell but he supposed someone had done wordless magic. A silky male voice then spoke in his ear on his left side making Harry close his eyes and shiver with a ripple of pleasure because he knew and he loved that voice very much
“Are you OK?”
Harry nodded slightly whispering and running his hand light over the pale hand that was on the ground next to him to doubley reassure him that he was ok
“I'm fine Draco”
Satisfied Draco stood, Harry stood up as well with some help from Draco. As he did so he heard Draco's father speak behind him
“Draconious Spencer Malfoy, what is the meaning of this?”
Draco looked first at Harry with a soft and tender expression, he then back to his father coldly
“I must of given you too much credit for being smart father… the meaning of my actions is fairly obvious if you take more than two seconds to think about it,I saved Harry because I'm loyal to him and the light side”
Lucius looked stunned, but Draco continued
“For several months now Harry and I have been romantically involved with one another, it was I who warned everyone about the attack the Death Eaters planned on the school tonight which is why you and your foolish cronies have only been able to attack older students we got everyone fifth year and below out of the school”
Lucius continued to stare at his son
While Harry’s attention turned to Hermione who was still tied to the tree he could see her eyes were large with shock, and Harry felt a sudden pang of guilt for not telling her about him and Draco sooner than he had
“What?”
Draco smiled sarcastically as his father’s simple question
“Read my lips father because I will only say this once I'm gay and I love Harry, I also want to and plan to marry him some day if he’ll have me, finally I’m going to show my true colors I’m not the Death Eater you want I’m a double agent under cover for the Order of the Phoenix who thinks your master is/was nothing but a half-mad fool because his dear daddy decided to be a bastard and leave his family”
This announcement and insult to his master was obviously too much for Lucius who looked daggers at his son at the moment raising his wand. Harry realizing what Lucius was about to do quickly raised his own wand pointing it between Lucius and his beloved Draco bellowing
“Protego”
A misty shield burst between Draco and his father. The curse from Lucius wand bounced off the shield hitting a Death Eater to his right. Harry glanced at Draco who nodded sadly but determinedly, Harry understood the meaning of the nod much as he hated to do it, he knew it was for the best. That's when Lucius turned his wand on Harry his eyes still spitting fire filled with hate. However, for Lucius Harry was faster with his wand and uttered
“Avada Kadavra” killing Lucius
The other Death Eaters seeing their second in command dead ran for it. Harry and Draco began to stun them some managed to get away but most fell, as they were hit with the two powerful stunning spells. Both Harry and Draco then turned to the tree and slashed the ropes around Hermione freeing her from the tree at which point she launched into a iron grip hug to Harry who stroked her back in comfort as she began to shake from fear as both Draco and Harry shot red sparks in the air so others would know where to find them as Draco stood watching Harry calm Hermione she turned her tear stained face to Draco and said softly
“I’m sorry I didn’t believe you really loved Harry it was wrong of me, if you didn’t love him you wouldn’t have saved him just now or me but I’m grateful”
He nodded his head as he said
“It’s ok Hermione most people had trouble believing we were for real and not some devious plot to kill Harry and I understand why you didn’t believe it either because I was nothing but an arrogant, immature prat to you and Ron as well as Harry for a very long time and me calling you all those nasty names probably never made me endearing”
She nodded with a slight sniff as she heard footsteps rapidly approaching a moment later Remus and his wife Tonk’s entered the clearing looks of anxiety etched in their features as they entered until they saw Harry standing there Hermione wrapped firm around his front while Draco was holding both of them from behind and looked more relax than they had ever seen him. They asked no questions but walked back to the castle after Harry showed them Voldemorts body. Once in the castle Harry was taken directly to the hospital wing and given a through exam by the thoroughly fired up Madam Promfrey who had along with other staff been in the thick of the battle within the castle. She also gave him a very healthy dose of dreamless sleeping draught knowing harry was going to need it.
Both Draco and Hermione sat diligently at Harry’s side as he slept. Talked about the losses the Order had suffered which thankfully had been few though it broke Hermione’s heart to hear that Fred had been one of the casualties along with good old mad-eye Draco held Hermione as she cried over the losses especially the loss of Fred, but she knew now would not be the time to seek out the Weasley’s to give her condolences. After a short period of tears and quiet reflecting sorrow they turned the topic of there conversation about the fact that Draco was probably going to brought in for questioning about the Death Eaters which Draco was all too happy to do since it was not his world any longer he knew too his mother would avoid jail time as she had been an innocent pawn in this game that had cost his father’s life.
