Snape walked through the halls his hands clenched in fists as he stormed down the stairs. He hit the bottom stair and took off. He had seen Lily and James for the seventh time today snogging in the corridor. He was so sick of seeing those two when Lily wouldn't even... look... at him anymore. When it had been him that had stuck by her all those years, told her about the wizarding world, started teaching her about magic when it had been mere months between her calling Potter a toe rag and dating him.

Madeline sighed softly as she wore a long sleeved shirt to hide a bruise her dad left on her arm. Her black hair was tied in a ponytail and her green eyes were showing something they were not used to revealing: happiness. This place was her true home. She stopped walking momentarily as soon as she saw him. The boy that made her heart flutter and stomach flip. She started to blush as two of her friends started to giggle. "Why don't you talk to him?" one of them asked behind her. She shook her head and walked quickly to the great hall to eat.

Snape slunk into the great hall a few moments later and sat down at his table. He didn't feel like eating but he didn't feel like the teachers harassing him about taking care of himself.

Madeline continued to stare at him and blushed as she looked at him. She had to talk to him. She had no more excuses to come up with on why to not talk to him. She cleared her throat and walked towards him. Luckily, she was in Ravenclaw so no one noticed her. She poked Severus and smiled a bit. "Excuse me, Severus, my name is Madeline. . . I was wondering i-if we could w-walk together to class on the first day of school."

Snape looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

"I have wanted to talk to you since the fifth year, when that stupid Potter boy embarrassed you. I was just nervous and I figured it was seventh year so what the hell? I would like us to get to know each other." she smiled. She was sincere in her plea for them to hang out together.

Snape glared at her a moment. "Go away." He said turning back to his food. He was sure her friends where around ready to laugh at the big joke. Waiting for the punch line.

"I am serious. . .I would like to walk with you, promise." Madeline grabbed his arm. "We could walk together right now if you don't believe me." she bit her lip. She always aimed to please people, especially those of the opposite sex. Her father never loved her, so she tried to make it up by having other guys love her.

Snape grabbed onto her arm and glared at her again. "Don't touch me... and I'm not allowing you to lour me into some trap you and your friends have set up for me." He could hear Mulciber on the other side of the table laughing.

"You could have just said you didn't want to be my friend." her eyes watered as she turned on her heel and quickly walked out. She sobbed as she started to walk towards Ravenclaw dorms. She sniffed as she sat in front of the portrait crying. "I wish I wasn't so horrible. Maybe people would love me." she thought sadly and sighed.

She sat there for a few moments before she saw a pair of black shoes in front of her. "Why?" Came Snape's deep voice.

Madeline wiped her cheeks and looked in his eyes. "I thought we were alike. My father picks on me and other people around the school taunt me." she answered his question. She sighed softly and closed her eyes. "But you don't care. Just leave me my dignity." she begged him.

"Why me though?" He asked. "And if you are serious about this why are you mentioning it now?"

"Well I had a crush on you. I think you are really nice deep down and I hate that Potter fool too. I hope someone breaks his nose." she pouted and crossed her arms. "I was scared to tell you. It took a lot just to come to you today and look what happened." she snapped the last part and sighed.

"You mean it?" she asked and stood up as she looked at him happily. He towered over her as she was only 5'6. She smiled and hugged him close as she closed her eyes. She was not used to hugging people and she quickly let him go.

Snape looked disgusted a moment. "I said I'd walk with you... don't make a big deal out of it." He said walking down the hall, his hands in his pockets. He was still bitter about Lily and Potter, it was really all he could think about. It was as if they went out of their way to do it in front of him.

She didn't care at this point as she started to dance around happily before entering towards the common room. Madeline blushed darkly as she waited for her friends to come. She hoped they would bring food as her heart continued to flutter.

Snape stood leaning against the wall waiting for... what was her name? Melony? Melody? Mindy? Either way the longer he waited the more irritated he got.

"Fine." He said simply. He said he'd walk with her. He found it kind of irritating that she was talking to him but he supposed he'd deal with it.

Madeline hummed happily and walked towards the classroom as she looked in his eyes. She had bright green eyes that had turned a few guys heads but she couldn't even get him to look at her. She smiled happily and looked at him. "Do you like my eyes?" she asked with a smile.

"Yeah.... sure." He said even though he didn't really look, as they arrived at their potions class.

Madeline giggled as she walked to the chair and sat down. She had no friends in here and she wanted Snape to sit with her. She pouted and turned around to look at him. "Sit with me."

Snape gave her an annoyed look that she would presume to order him around. She wasn't his mother after all, but never-the-less sat down. He put his books down and opened it to page three hundred ninety four even though they where still working on page two hundred and fourty six. He always did work ahead of the class in potions and it had always both annoyed and intrigued Slughorn. More so intrigued since it was one of the reasons he was always invited to those infernal Slug Parties.

Madeline smiled and looked at his book. He was extremely ahead of the class and she was happy for him. She looked at the book and started to do her assignment. Whenever she was working she worked in fast mode. She finished ahead of everyone else and started to read the next chapter.

Snape yawned and scratched his left forearm. It had been getting increasingly more itchy as of late but it wasn't so bad at the moment. He heared the girl next to him... what was her name again? Madeline... clear her throat and glanced over at her. He paused and watched her a moment actually looking at her eyes. They where green and vibrant almost like Lily's.

"Is your arm okay?" she asked and looked at him. She blinked a few times. Her eyes were absolutely beautiful and some of her friends wished to have eyes like her. She stopped when he looked in her eyes. Madeline felt like he was reading her soul.

"Yeah... it's fine." He said before looking back down at his book. A small smile formed on his lips. He had an idea. "Madeline?"

"Yes, Severus?" she asked and blushed. He liked how her name rolled off his tongue. She blushed and looked in his eyes as she wondered why he would call her. The class was rather quiet as Snape never talked to people before.

Madeline blushed darkly. This was in her dreams that he asked her out. She nodded frantically and had a blush on her face. She wished her friends were here to see them now. They were together. "I am so happy." she blushed.

"Was that a yes?" He asked.

She nodded and kissed his cheek softly. Madeline smiled and bit her lip. She never had a boyfriend before.

Snape blushed and saw that Lily was looking his way. He ignored her and paid attention to Madeline, though he was still watching her in his peripheral vision.

Madeline smiled at him and grabbed his hand. "Where are we going to go?" she asked and looked at him with a smile. She wanted to leave the class and do anything and everything he wanted from her.

"If you want we can go for a walk after school." He said. "Out on the grounds." He looked up at Professor Slughorn walked in and began the class.

Madeline nodded and started to pay attention to her classwork. She sighed softly as she didn't want to be here. She closed her eyes and tried to stop blushing. The thought of having someone like her felt so much better. She had to tell her father what happened.

Snape sat in class and concentrated on his work. He almost forgot about Madeline until near the end of class when she took his hand under the table. He nearly ripped his hand away before he remembered. He caught himself and held her hand.

Madeline smiled as she started to write with her left hand. She wanted to walk around with him. She giggled and looked at him. "I want to spend more time together. Can we walk around in the forbidden forest?"

"Madeline it's forbidden for a reason. We can't go there." He said. "But I'm sure we can find somewhere to go."

"I didn't know you always followed the rules. Maybe we should switch houses." she teased and smiled. She leaned in and kissed his cheek. "I can always helps you out." she smiled and blushed. "What do you say? It will be romantic to be alone."
Snape looked at her. "If I get in trouble one more time I'm going to get expelled." Snape said simply. "If I get expelled it'll.... it'll break my mums heart. I don't wanna do that to her. She wants me to make something of myself." He said confused as to why he was telling her this.

"Okay, we won't do it. I wouldn't want your mother to be upset with you because of me. Why don't we go by the lake?" she offered as she started to rub his hand softly. She blushed darkly as others were staring at her now.

Madeline didn't care what they did. The thought of being with him made her content enough. She nodded happily as the professor dismissed class early. She smiled and held his hand as they walked out the door. "Where are we going to walk?" she asked coyly.

"Do you have a spare next?" Snape asked. "If you do we can walk down towards the lake like you said and see where we go from there. "Besides the majority of the school will be in class. You wanted us to be alone so..."

"That sounds like fun." she smiled. They were in seventh year and she picked a minimum requirement for classes. She planned on having fun and relaxing this year. "So tell me about your mother." she started off as soon as they were alone. They were not out of the castle yet, but it was a question that was burning her skull.

Snape shrugged. "I'd rather not talk about my family." He said watching the ground as he walked. "How about you... why don't you tell me about yourself?" He asked suddenly realizing he didn't know anything about her.

"Well, would you rather hear about my abusive father or my mother who lets him do it?" she asked and looked at him. "I come from a family of Slytherins and we can see that a Ravenclaw is a disgrace. If it wasn't for Dumbledore I would be dead." she sighed as her eyes watered. A tear slowly rolled down her cheek as she looked at him. "I vow to not be like my parents. My children will be loved no matter what house they are in." she explained.

"At least both your parents are wizards." He said. "My fathers a drunken muggle. And my parental situation is much like your own."

"I plan on killing them one day. They are corrupting my brothers and sisters." she whispered and sighed as she looked at the lake. She sat down on the grass and just stared at the water. She looked at him and sighed. "He gives me nightmares. My friends have to make me feel better, but I know they wish I would just sleep."

Snape smirked slightly. "You sure you shouldn't have been in Slytherin?" He asked. "You ever seen the giant squid?"

He saw Remus and James walking towards him with Lily and decided to take his leave.

Snape hexed him one last time for good measure, the hex making Black's knees stick together. "This isn't over." He muttered before walking away towards his common room.
Madeline sat with her friends as they discussed classes for the next day. She sat patiently as she hated the thought of having a class with Gryffindor. She sighed softly as she yawned. The howler last night was a false alarm. It was from her grandmother, who still loved her despite being in Ravenclaw. She looked at her friends and smiled. "I will be walking towards my class. Might as well think of a hex for Sirius Black." she said and rolled her eyes. She hoped Severus would walk with her today.

Just as she was talking down the hall she was stopped by none other than Sirius Black.

"Stay away from me." she growled and glared as she tried to get her wand. A teacher was standing by so she could not grab it. "What do you want?"

Madeline smiled back at him and started to write down some of the notes.

Madeline smiled and looked at him. "I am sorry, Sirius. I am going with Severus." she blushed and smiled. "It is like our first date if you will." she continued to take notes as she stared at the board.

"Oh... well... would you mind if I joined you guys?" He asked. If he couldn't pull her away from him he could at least ruin their date. "I mean... I have no one else to go with so..."

"I would say yes, but this would be our first date. I want it to be special for the two of us. I have something great planned out for us." she smiled and looked at him. "We can spend time together another time I guess."

"Oh... yeah... sure. I'll just... go by myself then I guess." He said slipping sadly away from the table. Hopefully he wasn't overdoing it so she'd know it was an act.

"I am sorry. I hope you won't be mad. Maybe we can hang out the day after Hogsmeade." she smiled. "Wait. What about Remus?" she asked and raised an eyebrow. "Or that other boy that follows you around."

"James?" Sirius asked. "Naw, their all going with other people and don't want me tagging along. It's why I was hoping we could go."
