____Prologue____

Charlie Weasley sat with terrified eyes. The empty classroom before him was far more horrifying than any dragon he had tamed. He couldn’t believe that he had agreed to this. When he had decided it was time to take a break from the dragons in Romania, Charlie had envisioned his mothers Sunday dinners, family time, out on the lash with his brothers. Not agreeing to teach a gaggle of over excited teenagers the rudiments of dragon taming and helping out with the Quiddich team. So why had he? He mused. Was it something to do with Destiny perhaps?
Of course it was, Destiny Snape to be precise! She was the daughter of Professor Severus Snape, and ? Well, no one really knew. No one had even known that she existed until another Professor Snape arrived at Hogwarts. The Students had their suspicions, as did Charlie. Oh yes, the gentle Scottish accent, the slim figure, the softer side. Could she be the unlikely love child of Minerva McGonagall and Serverus Snape? The jury was still out.
Charlie looked up as the object of his thoughts swept into the classroom. She had her father’s dark hair, shiny and waist length, but where his was straight, hers had ringlet curls; she had it tied in a black ribbon. Some of the curls had escaped, collecting around her face and neck. She smiled dusky red lips at him, the smile reaching her eyes. Such bewitching eyes. As dark as her hair, they shone. He was always entranced by her eyes.
Destiny Snape regarded Charlie Weasley as he sat at her desk. He looked terrified and the class wasn’t even there yet. She smiled reassuringly to him. She tried to remove the image that had invaded her senses as she had walked along to her classroom. The memories of meeting Charlie at Ron and Hermione’s wedding, a few years before. She had been invited as Hermione’s colleague. She hadn’t worked at Hogwarts for long and Hermione had been a new teacher too, they had stuck together, much as brand new first years would do. A firm friendship had evolved.
Destiny had been unaccompanied at the wedding; Charlie had also stood mostly alone, watching others enjoy themselves. He wasn’t jealous, it was just his way. They had met at the bar, chatting. They had got on really well, finding a lot in common. Their paths had crossed sometimes since. Ron’s mother had ‘adopted’ her. Celebrations weren’t exactly frequent in the Snape family and Destiny had revelled in the family atmosphere at The Burrow. Charlie usually went to family functions, and she had noticed his absences almost as keenly as his attendances. She realised that, as her students would say, she ‘fancied’ Charlie.
Charlie had also noticed Destiny, more than noticed her. She was the main reason why he moved heaven and earth to get to family ‘do’s’. He’d never had the courage to do more than talk to her. Even with a skin full of firewhiskey, the most he had done was make a few indirect hints. Apart from the fact that she was Snape’s daughter, that terrified him enough, she was stunningly gorgeous. And he was, well, just him. He wasn’t Bill, older, wiser, good looking, with a ‘killer’ body (as one of his ex girlfriends had not so subtlety observed when seeing Bill sunbathing in the Burrow’s garden). He wasn’t scarily intelligent like Percy, although he didn’t really understand the attraction for the girls, yet Percy was married to a beautiful muggle now. He wasn’t the twins, full of energy and wit, always pulling a prank, endearing and attractive. Nor was he Ron, ‘The’ Harry Potters closest friend, involved in some of the most high profile incidents in the wizarding world. Ron had become rather suave and dashing as he got older. And of course he wasn’t Ginny, the baby of the family, with so many older brothers it was no wonder that the only man deemed fit for her was Harry Potter himself. He was the ‘nothing’ Weasley. He had no outstanding abilities, as he saw it, not like the others. He had had a few girlfriends; he was painfully shy when it came to women, so most of these girls had foisted themselves on him. He had gone along with the relationships until the girls got bored of his romantic ways and sometimes smothering love. When they fell apart he mourned and moved on.
He didn’t seem to notice what Destiny and other’s saw. The strong body, all muscle. Lithe and supple. The kind eyes, full of intelligence and dreams. The sensuous lips, mostly curved in a good natured smile. He wasn’t classically good looking but when he smiled, Charlie gained the attention of more women than he could have ever imagined. He just didn’t notice. He didn’t see his job as anything special. He loved dragons, and felt honoured to have worked with them for so long. Yes, it was dangerous, but only if you let it be. He had had many a one night stand off the back of his occupation, all around the world. But they always left him empty, sexually settled but empty. He didn’t regard himself as a ‘hero’ at all, even though many of the women he had bedded had called him that. He assumed it was a way to massage his ego and no more.
Destiny gave him a sympathetic look as the class filed in and sat down, she willed him not to show his nerves, the young group before them would tear him to shreds. She cleared her throat.
“Thank you!” she called “Settle down please! Right, this is Mr Weasley; he is joining us for a term to teach us about dragons and their habitats. Mr Weasley is one of the world’s best dragon tamers and handlers. Dragons hold an important role in the world of magic, as Mr Weasley will tell us. He will teach us each breed and their characteristics, and how they respond to contact. He will show us, first hand, with real dragons, how they are tamed and handled” she paused shooting a withering look at the front row.
“Wish he’d handle me!” it had come from the gaggle of adolescent girls who sat there. Poor Charlie, thought Destiny as his ears turned pink. She hoped he was going to cope with this. It wasn’t easy; she herself was getting used to wolf whistles and stares from hormone filled boys. Especially as she favoured short skirts under her teaching robes and sometimes the students got a view of wonderful legs as the wind whipped her robes over her head.
