Running through the forests of England, Edward Cullen
followed his prey. Wounded from the
vicious fight that preceded the chase, the griffin limped and piteously flapped
its wings. Edward knew he should finish
the poor creature off, but something more primal in him enjoyed the suffering
of the beast. Finally, as the magical
creature stumbled to the ground the vampire grudgingly accepted that the hunt
was over. Leaping upon its back and expertly avoiding claw and beak, he sunk
his fangs into the muscular throat. A
wave of hot and sticky blood washed down, metallic and sweet.style='mso-spacerun:yes'> Edward felt his body vibrate as if charged
with electricity and growled deep within his chest.

He had just finished his feeding when he smelled that a
human had entered the forest. Climbing
into the trees, Edward scampered across the boughs until he spotted the source
of scent. He watched, eyes glinting in
the darkness as he observed the mortal wander into the forest clearing.

Draco Malfoy knew that he had
to be a Potion’s Master, but that meant that he needed to practice his
concoctions. Unfortunately, most of the
herbs required for the spells he liked to brew could only be picked in the dead
of night. He had snuck out behind the
manor to search for some of his favorites, meandering through the woods until
he found a clearing.

Knowing that the herbs he sought would be hidden beneath
the trees at the edge of the large clearing, he knelt down to search. After a
few minutes of peering closely at each plant, picking through the overwhelming
underbrush, Draco stood, victorious at last. Tossing his arms above his head,
he stretched out the small knot in his back from bending down so long. Edward
gazed from deep within the trees as the blond boy slowly rocked his head first
to one side and then the other, unknowingly inviting the vampire to strike his
exposed lean neck. He inhaled sharply, realizing a moment too late that even
the smallest breath would be leaden with the young boy’s rich scent. He lunged,
causing the branch he had been perched upon to groan slightly. Draco spun and
saw the briefest flash of pale skin moving through the trees toward him. A
heartbeat later his wand was up and an illuminati had passed his full lips.

Draco was knocked violently to the ground as the swooping
glittery shadow whirled around. Shocked
that his vampire counter-spell hadn’t worked, all he could do was lie in a sort
of paralysis. Shit, he thought, I’m done
for. And by a stupid
vampire at that.
