Prologue

A/N : There is a reason that the Avada Kedavra that was cast at Harry that night bounced back, but Harry would not discover that reason until he turned seventeen and came into his magical inheritance. You see, at some point in the distant past, one of the Potters ended up being a life mate to a very magically powerful humanoid creature. The thing is that the original species is now extinct, and has been for some time. However, the latent DNA of this creature manifested in Harry, partially due to the extra energy from the AK busting a hole in Harry's sub core. In case you didn't know, wizards and witches have magical cores that store their magic. People with creature DNA have what is known as a sub core, which is underneath the main core, separated by a thin membrane that is only broken when they turn seventeen. One of the attributes of this creature is its inability to be killed through magic. If Tom had used a knife instead of relying on magic, Harry would have died with his parents that night.
Our story begins at the end of sixth year, after Tom, his DE's, and a horde of vampires and dementors attacked Hogwarts three weeks from the end of the year. During the battle, Draco AKed Evan Rosier because he was about to hit Harry with one while Harry was
concentrating on Tom. Harry had already killed Bellatrix and her husband with a Diffindo accross the jugular as revenge for Sirius. Tom, and what was left of his DEs, made a tactical retreat. The Ones that fought in the battle were the Order (30), the Faculty (20), the 6th years (40), the 7th years (40), the DA (58), and the dozen or so Aurors that were sent as extra security from the Ministry. That makes only 200 people against Voldemort, 150 Death Eaters, 200 Dementors, and 150 vampires. I leave you now on the train at the end of the year.

Prologue

After a particularly nasty bout of insult tossing with Malfoy, Harry decided to find out why Malfoy had instigated all of those encounters over the years.

"Malfoy" Harry spoke up just as Draco had turned to leave.

"What, Potter?" Draco said while spinning back around to glare at him.

"Why do you always start these fights between us?" Asked Harry with a curious, but still suspicious look on his face.

"Five reasons, Potter. You're in Gryffindor, you're famous, you're spoiled, you refused my friendship the first day on the train, and my father hates you." Draco said all of that while keeping a sneer on his face. The entire time Draco was counting off the reasons on his fingers, Harry's face went from curiously suspicious to biting his lip to keep from laughing his arse off.

"Well, it looks like we can stop these petty arguments then." Harry said, while trying to keep a straight face.

"How do you figure that?" Draco said, while keeping his sneer in place.

"Let's go backwards, shall we? You are going to be seventeen over the summer. Your father should not dictate your thinking any more. When we met in Madam Malkin's before school started, you reminded me of my cousin Dudley; arrogant, brash, conceded, and a bully. Since I always got beat up by him, I didn't think I needed a FRIEND with the same personality. When I go to my aunt's house during the summers, I am treated as little more than a house elf. Until I got my Hogwart's letter when I was eleven, I slept in the cupboard under the stairs. I hate being famous for something that I can't even remember, especially since my parents were killed during that event. And the ONLY reason that I am even IN Gryffindor is because I argued with the Sorting Hat, which wanted to put me in Slytherin by the way, because I was told on that first train ride that all Slytherins are evil because Voldemort was a Slytherin. Now that I have shot down all your reasons for continuing these little skirmishes of ours, do you have anything else to say?" Harry said, while trying and failing to keep the grin off of his face.

Yes! There it was! The sound of Draco's chin hitting the floor!

"I didn't think so. See ya 'round, Malfoy." Harry turned and walked back to his own compartment on the train.

A/N: I know that the prologue is short, but there is a good reason for that which I will reveal at a later date. Oh, I need a beta. I'm good with grammer, but horrible at spelling. So telling me which words to fix, and how to fix them in reviews would be greatly apprietiated. <-- Perfect example. By the way, please tell me if you want to continue the story. I would like to, seeing as how I already have 8 chapters written, excluding this one.
