Mutant VS Magic

Mutant VS. Magic

Prologue

It was a beautiful September day. Hermione sat by the lake taking in the peaceful fall atmosphere. While Ron, Harry, and Ginny were off at Quidditch practice she decided to go off on her own to think. Right before she came to Hogwarts for her seventh and final year, she had received a letter from her Uncle Charles Xavier in New York.

Dear Hermione,

It is with regret that I write this letter to you. A week ago, the X-Men came to save me from William Striker. Unfortunately, Jean didn’t make it. She had gotten off the plane to keep the dam water from drowning us all. She sacrificed herself to save us.

We have all taken her death hard. Especially Scott. You and I both know how much they loved one another. Before you ask, Logan is handling things quite well.

Classes have continued as usual. I hope you are doing well at Hogwarts. Remember, if you need anything just contact me and I will be there.

Love,
Uncle Charles

Hermione let out a sigh. She knew, as well as her Uncle, that Jean Grey wasn’t truly dead. All it would take to awaken her would be a huge burst of energy. She only hoped that she would be there to help contain Jean when and if that day came.

Logan stood on the grounds of Charles’ school in New York. He let out a sigh as he watched Scott drive off on his motorcycle. Logan knew Scott was having a hard time dealing with Jean’s death, but to just up and abandon his responsibilities at the school wasn’t like him.

Logan turned and walked over to a bench beneath a large oak tree. It was on this very bench nearly a month ago when Charles’ niece, Hermione Granger, had confided in him that she loved him and had been in love with him for a few years.

*Flashback*

“What did you want to talk about Hermione?” Logan asked.

“Well, there’s something I need to tell you. Logan, I’m in love with you. And before you say anything, it’s not some silly little crush. I thought the same thing when I met you three years ago. No matter how hard I try to push you out of my mind, I can’t. I have spoken with Uncle Charles and he said for me to do what feels right,” Hermione answered.

Logan just sat there. He didn’t know what to say. He turned and looked into Hermione’s amber eyes. “Hermione, I don’t know what to say,”

“Logan, I’m not trying to force you into anything. I’m leaving in the morning and felt I should tell you. With the war against Voldemort heating up, I have no idea when it would be safe for me to come back here,”

“So, what am I suppose to do? Just sit here and wait for you to come back?”

“No. I know you have feelings for Jean. All I wanted was to be honest with you. If I made you think that I was trying to trap you or to make you uncomfortable, I’m sorry. That wasn’t my intention,”

Before Logan couple speak another word, Hermione stood up and re-entered the mansion.

*End Flashback*

Hermione had left before the two of them could settle anything. ‘What am I feeling for Hermione? I mean, I love Jean, but I’m not IN love with her. Am I in love with Hermione though? Every time I try to push her out of my head, here she comes barreling through no matter how hard I try to keep her out. Maybe I should talk to someone, but who?’ He thought sadly.

“Hello Logan,” Ororo greeted as she approached him.

“Hi,” Logan replied.

“Something on your mind?” Ororo asked.

“Actually, yeah. You got some time? ‘Cause this could take a while,” Logan answered.

“Let’s go inside and get comfortable then,” she smiled.

The two stood up and entered the mansion and made their way to Ororo’s office. Logan jumped right in and explained his thoughts to her as well as what Hermione had said to him the day before she left. Ororo listened patiently and kept an open mind in how to help her friend. After an hour and a half, Logan finished telling her his problem and sat down in front of her desk.

“What do I do?” he asked.

“I think only you can answer that, Logan. If you really are in love with Hermione, one, you need to tell the Professor. After all, he is now her guardian what with the death of her parents last year. The Professor knows how to get in touch with her,” she replied.

“I can’t tell her! Not yet. Hell, I don’t even know if I am in love with her,” he sighed as he stood up and walked to the window.

“Then at least talk to the Professor, he may be able to help you settle your thoughts,” she suggested.

“Thanks, Storm,” he smirked as he turned and exited the office.

Back in England, Voldemort stood pacing his throne room. He needed to defeat Harry Potter and he needed to defeat the boy now. He stopped pacing as an idea suddenly came to him. There was one person who could possibly help him. Voldemort just needed to find the man and hope he was in a listening mood.
