Elemental Magic
Chapter 1- Hogwarts
He sat there staring out of the window, but he didn’t see the view. He couldn’t help but re-live the horrors of the last revel his father had allowed him to go to. He couldn’t stop in his dorm room; it wouldn’t do for the other Slytherins to hear his screams. So he hid in the Room of Requirement, it was the perfect place for him to find peace.
Draco was snapped out of his thoughts by the sound of the school gate opening. No one other than Snape was usually out this late. But for once it wasn’t Space. It was just some plain looking girl that he didn’t think he’d seen before.
He wondered briefly why she was out think late, before drifting back to the torment that was his dreams.

She opened the gate, cringing as the creaking sound it made carried across the grounds. Someone much have heard it. She walked quickly across the school grounds towards the castle that loomed above her. She felt someone watching her and was thankful that she remembered to cast a glamour charm on herself before she left.
The girl quickly entered Hogwarts and once inside she made her way to Albus Dumbledore’s office. The stone gargoyle leapt aside as soon as she approached, this let her know that the Headmaster was already aware that she was here.
‘Good evening Miss Midnight,’ he said as the girl removed her glamour charm.
‘Please Professor, call me Rose.’
The now glamour free girl at down grinning slightly when she noticed Dumbledore’s astonished look at her appearance and she had to admit she did look quite unusual.
Her skin was pale and, like a veela’s, it glowed slightly in the dark. Her hair was jet-black streaked with red and gold and finally her eyes were violet. But the reason her appearance was so unusual was because everything about her was completely natural, for her anyway.
Once Rose had sat down, the tattered sorting hat soared from its place behind the Headmaster’s desk and landed on her head.
‘Hmm, where should you go? You could fit in anywhere really and succeed however, considering what you need to do; I think that you would go best in GRIFFINDOR!’ Now that it had decided what house Rose was in the hat flew back to its rightful place.
‘I always thought I’d be in Griffindor,’ Rose mused.
Dumbledore smiled, ‘splendid, now that’s sorted you can go to bed, you’ve got an early start tomorrow.’
‘Just a second Professor, aren’t there things that should be discussed tonight?’
‘No Rose, I think it would be easier if you only have to tell everything once, and it can wait until a more appropriate time, rather than three o’clock in the morning. There is however one thing I will ask you to do.’
‘What’s that sir?’
‘I would like you to keep the relationship between you and Professor Snape quiet. I don’t want to put him in anymore danger than he already is.’
‘Don’t worry sir, Firelight doesn’t know he’s here so no one should find out.’
‘All right then, I trust you want your own room?’
Rose nodded and a house elf appeared, ‘follows me miss.’ Rose got up, ‘goodnight Professor,’ and followed the house elf out of the office.
The house elf lead Rose to a room near Griffindor tower. She entered and it quickly found the bedroom. She didn’t look round much, as she was exhausted. So she quickly got into bed and feel into a dreamless sleep.
