A bad friday
This is my first Danfic and my first fanfic alltogether in like forever so it might be quite terrible. If you find any spelling mistakes feel free to keep them :)
comments would be nice so I know if I should keep it up or not
Chapter 01
She yawned sleepily as she opened her yes…her lips curled into a smile as the thought of the day being a Saturday crossed her mind…the first weekend off in two weeks….fantastic!!!
She reached over to her nightstand and grabbed her phone, sliding it open to check her messages or missed calls. There were none though… she shrugged and put the mobile down only to grab it once more a second later with a terrified look on her face. Her eyes fixed at the time and date of the display. Friday September 14th 8:20
The shock rushed through her system like a drug and she jumped out of bed. Still a bit insecure on the legs she went over to the window to open the curtains but a sudden pain held her back as she realized that she scraped the skin of her calf as she hit against the edge of the bed. She decided not to bother with the curtains anymore as she stopped a drop of blood from running down her leg by wiping it off with her finger. Just then she remembered that she was very late for work. She glanced over at the clock on her wall decorated with a pink cat face which eyes dart from one side to another at the annoying ticking of every second. 8:22
She rushed out of her bedroom, stumbling over a shoe she just kicked off the night before. Cursing under her breath she entered the bathroom plopping down on the toilet and wiggling with her toes on the cold tiled floor impatiently, begging for it to run out faster.
Next she quickly washed her hair under cold water for she had no time for it to run warm. She brushed her teeth while she ran from one room into the other to pack her bag, occasionally slurping her saliva and the toothpaste back into her mouth.
Then she held a hairdryer in one hand as she was trying to put on a new pair of knickers with the other. Naturally she couldn’t hold her balance and fell back onto the bed. 8:30
It was 8:34 when she left the house . If she’d break speed limit only a little bit she could still make it on time. She went to her car and unlocked the drivers door. Jut then she realized she had forgotten the most important thing….the planner with the concept she was instructed to work out. Today was the presentation and it was her chance to prove that she was a professional and to be taken serious by her co workers.
She rushed back into the house to fetch it.
Sitting in the car she turned the key around but the engine didn’t start. All it made was an unhealthy sounding grunting noise. She tried to start it a few more times until she gave up and let herself fall back into the seat. She sighed and looked into the rear-view mirror. It took her a few moments until she noticed something white on the back window. She leaned forward to take a closer look in the mirror but she couldn’t make out what it was. She turned her head to look at it directly.
‘A piece of paper? ‘she wondered.
She got out of the car and went around it to see what it really was.
It was indeed a piece of paper and it read “ Better turn your lights off next time”
“oh please!!!” she said out loud, ripping the paper off which was stuck on with sellotape and crumpled up the paper into a ball. Empty battery
For a moment she wondered what to do when she decided to go by bus. She didn’t know where the next bus stop was because she never paid attention to those things while driving in the car. She made a mental note to change that habbit in the future as she walked down the street.Just then it started to rain heavily.
After 10 minutes she was totally wet through and out of breath…naturally for people who tend to lay on the sofa and eat crisps in their free time and smoke like a chimney instead of going out for a walk every once in a while…if she’d done that once or twice she would also know where the next bus stop was.
She did eventually find a bus stop with a bus driving towards it. She ran the last few meters and just reached it just before the driver could push the button to close the door. She held onto the iron bar to catch her breath before addressing the bus driver. Hammersmith bus station please she said to him. He typed something on his keyboard as he said “2.60”
She rummaged in her bag, slightly panicking because she couldn’t find her purse. The driver sat and kept tipping his index finger on the dashboard looking at her sternly.
She tried harder causing her mobile, eyeliner and biro slip out of her hand and drop onto the floor. Every passenger on the bus was staring at her, some just as impatiently waiting for her to finally pay as the driver. She felt their eyes on her as she bent down picking up her belongings. The driver sighed. “You know I don’t have all day.” He eventually said with an annoyed tone. Her face was red when she leaned forward “I think I forgot my purse” she said almost in a whisper. “Pardon me?” the driver said angry now. “I think I for” she started over “No I got that I’m not bloody deaf….Can’t believe it….forgot her bloody purse!!!” “But I’m really late for work sir…please sir….I” he broke her off.
“Yeah so am I “ he said.
She started searching all over as she said “Please I have to get to work sir”
“Not my problem” he said turning his eyes away from her instead looking straight ahead. He pushed a button and the door swung open. She looked back up at him, wet streaks of hair sticking on her rosy face.
“If you please now m’am” he pointed at the direction of the door. She lowered her head and turned around about to get off the bus. “Women these days…think they get through with everything” she heard him say. Suddenly a young lad sitting in the front stood up and put some money into the small tray in front of the driver’s booth.
He turned to her after giving him the evil eye. She stared at him in disbelieve. His large blue eyes reassuring her it’s okay.
“Thank you so much” she said to him.
“Not a problem at all” he replied politely before sitting back down. Without waiting for her to be seated the driver started the engine and drove off, causing her to almost fell on an middle-aged man who shook his head at her.
“Sorry” she muttered embarrassed.
Still everybody watched her as she made her way to the only empty seat next to an overdressed blonde women with thick make up on who held a small shih tzu in her lap. Her perfume was as penetrating as her ignorance.
“May I take…” the women who first looked at her disgustedly turned her head and pretended to look out of the dusty window petting her dog before she could finish her sentence.
“take this seat” she finished speaking to herself it seemed.
She bit her lip and looked at her feet, waiting for everybody to mind their own business again and take their eyes off her.
When they did she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. As she opened them again only one person was still looking at her…the young lad. He gave her a comforting half smile which she returned before she as well started to watch the passing cars on the road through the window.
