1. The Head Girl

‘I can’t do this; I can’t do this’ Draco Malfoy kept repeating to himself. ‘But I have to.’

Draco Malfoy was about to start his seventh year at Hogwarts school of wizardry and witchcraft two weeks before any other student, with the exception of head girl.

‘Head girl.’ Draco thought.

The head girl was who Draco dreaded meeting. He knew who it would be as soon as the thought crossed his mind. It would be the girl who had plagued his thoughts the entire summer. Not giving him a moments rest. Just thinking of her made his stomach lurch. Hermione Granger.

Previous years, he had hated her. She was his rival, and topping him every time. She got better grades, better friends, was a Gryffindor, liked by all teachers, with the exception of Snape. And there he was second best to her. It was almost as if he was standing in the storm and she was inside a warm cottage.

Some would call him jealous, but he would quickly silence them with the Malfoy scowl. Deep down, he new what he felt was something else. It was lust. But as soon as he thought of it that way, he would dispel it, knowing it can never be.

She was a mudblood, Harry Potter’s best friend, a know-it-all, how could a Malfoy ever fall in love with her? He knew that these were the thoughts he was supposed to be having, but instead he thought ‘a Malfoy could never get a girl like her.’

He had no choice in the matter. From birth, he was prepped and groomed to become something that he never wanted to be, a Death Eater. People always told him it is his destiny, that there was no hope for the heir of Voldemort’s right hand man. But luckily for Draco, he knew his destiny, and didn’t believe a thing anyone told him.
