-Linkin Park, In Between

---
It was pure, unadulterated chance that brought Draco to the exact spot he was needed in to witness the greatest act in all of Wizarding History, the greatest since the Founders of Hogwarts had... well... founded Hogwarts.

He was the sole witness to Harry Potter's killing of Voldemort, and the subsequent events. He actually missed quite a lot of it, if he were to be truly truthful with himself, due to the enormous backlash of magic that swept out after Voldemort fell at Potter's hand, incinerating most of the Death Eaters still gathered. He'd been knocked backwards, hit his head on the wall, and awoke several hours later to see Potter sitting a few feet away from Voldemort's body, writing what appeared to be a very long letter.

As puzzling as this was, he made no move to get up, call out, or otherwise alert Potter to his presence. Instead, he remained slumped against the wall where he'd regained consciousness, and watched.

To his great surprise, instead of dancing a jig on the body or laughing and partying with his friends, which was what Draco would have expected after a defeat of this magnitude, he was crying. Sobbing even, great heaving sobs that shook his whole body and must have made writing almost unbearable. As Draco watched, he sealed up the three or four leafs of parchment he'd been writing on, and cast some sort of spell on them. He lovingly tucked the letter into his pocket, and picked up his wand again.

As Draco watched, Potter turned his wand on himself, and for a moment he was afraid that the boy had written his suicide note. Had he known the truth, he would have been much more horrified.

Potter gathered magic in the air towards him, building it together around him in preparation for what would be an explosively powerful spell. Draco inched closer to him, wanting to see.

Finally, he took a deep breath, and let it out slowly. "Obliviate!"

The force of his self-obliviation knocked him backwards, and he didn't move again. Horrified, Draco rushed forward, dragging him farther from the cooling body of Voldemort he'd landed next to. The parchment slipped out of his pocket, and Draco snatched it up, curiously. Words appeared across the outside.

"If you're reading this, you must be a witch or wizard. My name is Harry Potter. I have a request of you, and I ask it as the vanquisher of Voldemort, the Saviour of the Wizarding world. There is a small town in Wiltshire, England by name of Godric's Hollow. I would like you to Apparate me to the outskirts of this town, and leave me there. Please."

The letter itself was unopenable, and Draco couldn't even begin to guess at what he wanted in Godric's Hollow, Wiltshire of all places. Still, he was the only one who knew, was probably the only one who would find him for several days. He'd never get there on his own, and in a moment of recklessness, Draco did one of the first decent things he'd ever accomplished in his life. He took Potter, and his letter, to Godric's Hollow, and left him there, as instructed.

Well, I'm trying out this new thing with my writing. It's called finishing what I start. XDD I felt pretty good after finishing Magia Scura, and I'm going to attempt to not write anything else until I finish one fanfic, which is why I end up leaving off so many fics. I get bored, start something else, and never bother to go back. If I post something not related to In Between, smack me via review, yeah? :3 Also, please review this and let me know what you think of it!
