Just My Imagination
Severus Snape sat in an alcove watching the Hogwart’s grounds. Below his beloved Hermione walked with her two best friends. They laughed and played more like children than teenagers about to graduate but Severus didn’t mind. He thought he would have joined them if he hadn’t his reputation to worry about. And what did they have to celebrate? Freedom for over the summer Harry Potter had defeated the Dark Lord and they had returned victorious.
None was more victorious than Severus Snape, who had been freed from service to a tyrant and had found the love of his life. Hermione Granger was everything he could ask for in a woman, brains and beauty. She had admitted to returning the deep love he felt for her and their happiness together had started. She was his in every way but one and that would happen when school was over. Every day he watched them out this window thinking what a lucky wizard he was to have the love of such a beautiful witch.
She had grown up over the years from the beaver toothed know it all to a beautiful, smart, confident woman who went after what she wanted. He hadn’t realized how much he loved her until the Final Battle when she had saved his life by pulling him out of the path of a Killing Curse. He realized he adored this petite woman and she was everything he wanted.
The school year was almost over and he thought about the little house he had bought and their plans. They would move into it the week school ended. It was small but it had several large rooms and a large garden. He planned to turn the basement into a potions laboratory and Hermione had laughingly agreed.
“It wouldn’t be home with out your potions workshop” she had said, kissing him on his cheek.
Hermione, of course, would go to the Wizard’s University if she chose. She was still contemplating and the Head of the school had told her to take her time. He would accept her when she was ready. Severus thought she wanted just some time away from the excitement. Her time at Hogwart’s had been filled with it and she needed peace. He could offer that to her.
She had decided to pursue a degree in Charms and a secondary degree in Potions. It made him proud that he had inspired her so much. He loved the feeling he got when she spoke of the things he had taught her, knowing that he had done well with at least this one woman. He adored her more than anything and would have done anything to make her happy.
They had also planned to have children. Two or three, she had said. It didn’t matter as long as they were healthy because they would have parents that loved them. He loved the thought of seeing her grow big with his child, to watch her nurse and to raise them by his side. He thought she would make a wonderful mother and she assured him that he would be just as wonderful as a father.
Every night when he kissed her goodbye in the hall and she returned to her Gryffindor common room, he wondered how he got so lucky. Every night he prayed to whatever god that was out there to please don’t take her from him. He didn’t know how he could live without her. She was everything that made him happy. His only light in the darkness.
He turned his eyes back to the scene outside and watched her. He could see her smile and was happy that her friends had made her happy. He watched as the redhead, Ron knelt in the grass and held something in his hand. Hermione covered her mouth with one hand. She was shaking her head in disbelief but finally accepted his gift and threw herself in his arms. Ron stood up and swung her around happily. Severus couldn’t hear them but he imagined that Ron was shouting in happiness.
He watched as Harry hugged them both in congratulations. Severus shook his head to stop the pain. Of course it had all been just his imagination running away with him. How could he expect the lovely Miss Granger to fall for the dark Potion’s Master when she had such heroes as Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley at her side.
He walked down the hall to his dungeon rooms silently cursing himself for falling into the fantasy of her love again.
Just my imagination, yeah, yeah, yeah, Running away with me
Oooh, just my imagination, Running away with me

I know it’s short but it has been stuck in my head since I heard the song so I needed to get it out. Hope everyone likes it.
