An Unlikely Love
AN UNLIKELY LOVE
“Harry!!” Harry looked up and saw his boyfriend come running towards him, concern and relief painted in his beautiful face. Harry shook his head madly. He shouldn’t come here.
“Draco, no! Don’t come! It’s a trap, they…!” Harry was cut of by a cold hand. It was too late. They had already surrounded him. Two muscular death eaters graphed Draco violently and held him steady.
“What is going on..?” Draco asked confused and looked from Harry to the death eater holding him to the others.
“It is time Draco…” said a grovelling voice and Lucius Malfoy stepped out of the shadows.
“Dad…?” Lucius smirked.
“So it was true then.” He said and looked from his son to Harry and back again, he could clearly sense it and it made him want to puke, “The great Harry Potter managed to brainwash my dear son, we better change that don’t we…” Draco shook he head.
“Your wrong dad, it was you who brainwashed me and Harry freed me. He gave me something to live for and for that I love him…” Lucius stared at Draco, wide eyed not believing what he had just heard Draco said.
“Love him?” Lucius said with amusement, “That’s the most ridicules thing I’ve ever heard coming from you Draco… A Malfoy doesn’t love!”
“Well this Malfoy does dad! This Malfoy loves Harry Potter and there’s nothing you can do about it, I’m not joining you and your weak lord. I hate him and I prefer fighting against him!” This statement made his father speechless and Draco smirked.
“Now, now… Don’t get too overconfident Draco” said the death eater holding Harry, who Draco knew as Neil, “Remember your position here. You don’t want anything to happen with your little lover here, do you? I have to say ever since I learned of the two of you, I’ve been wondering… How’s he in bed, Draco? Mind if I have a try?” Neil smirked satisfied when he saw Draco’s self-assured face change to horror as he seductively licked the black-haired’s soft neck. The boy shivered in his grip. Whet ever it was from disgust or pleasure, Neil couldn’t tell, but it felt surprisingly good to him and felt a need to go further forgetting the others around him and their actual reason to be here.
“No!” Draco shouted and broke Neil’s thoughts, “Don’t touch him! I’ll do as you say, I’ll join you, just leave him alone!” Neil smiled for himself. He was good. The dark lord would be very satisfied when he heard of this. A bit unwilling he let go of Harry and looked at the others triumphantly.
Harry looked up at his boyfriend in horror, panting slightly from the touches.
“No! Don’t do it Draco! Don’t!”
Draco met Harry’s emerald eyes and smiled sadly. His mouth spoke soundless words but Harry could clearly hear them; “I’m sorry… I love you Harry, I’ll come back and find you, please wait for me…” They disappeared one after one.
“Till we meet again…” Neil said seductively, forced a kiss on Harry lips and disappeared. The robe around Harry’s hands loosened. He was free, but for what cost? Draco was gone. He’d been forced to join the dark lord, in order to save Harry..? Why had he done such a stupid thing?
Harry clenched his fists and closed his eyes as the tears treated to appear. This is not the end, he thought, opened his eyes, looked up in the sky and let the clear tears fall freely, I will see you again we will be together again… Someday… Right…?
It was a couple of months later when Harry entered the great hall for breakfast and sat down in front of Ron and Hermione.
“Any interesting news?” he asked. Hermione looked up from the Daily Prophet surprised.
“Eh… No-nothing, there’s nothing new!” She said and packed the newspaper away in a hurry. Harry looked at her suspicious. He could tell something was wrong and now that he came to think about it, the hall seemed awfully quiet. Like everyone was sad about something that he was the only one who didn’t know of what.
“What is it?” Harry asked her, “I know there’s something you’re not telling me!” Hermione looked at Ron. He nodded.
“You better as well show him, he’ll find out sooner or later…” Hermione sighed and took out the newspaper again.
“Page five…” she said, handing Harry the paper. Harry only needed to read the headline to figure out what is was all about:
“Found body identified as the only 17 year old Draco Malfoy…”
In two seconds Harry’s entire world collapsed. He read the article again and again, but it didn’t change. The name of the find remained the same. Harry shook his head. He couldn’t believe this was happening to him, he just couldn’t. There had to be something behind it, it had to be a joke! He finally looked up from the paper at his two friends. They both smiled at him sadly, not really knowing what to say, knowing that they could say nothing that would make him feel better. Harry rose and stormed up towards the professors’ table. He slammed the paper down in front of Dumbledore.
“Is it true!?!” he shouted, “Is it!?!” Dumbledore looked at him for awhile, sorrow dominating his blue eyes.
“I am afraid it is, Harry. I am sorry…”
“Bullshit!! I don’t believe you! I won’t!” Harry shouted at the top of his lungs before running out of the great hall. Hermione rose to follow him, but Ron stopped her.
“I think it’s best to leave him alone. We don’t know how he feels anyway… We hated Draco, remember?”
Harry ran through the corridors as the tears started to fall, one after another. Breathing hard, he stopped in front of room of requirement – their room. Harry opened the room as he half hoped and half expected Draco to stand by the window with a playful smirk as he had done so many times in the past. But there was no Draco to see anywhere in the room. Harry walked slowly towards the red and green king sized bed in the middle of the room and drew a hand with the sheets. It still smelled of them, even though it had been more than month since their last time. Harry curled up on the middle of the large bed and for a wonderful minute disappeared into the memory of their last time together. Harry recalled everything. Their smell. Their sounds. And the feeling. A feeling of belonging -the feeling of Draco inside of him. Those arms around him, protecting him from any harm appearing. Harry felt the tears come with new power. He missed it. He missed it so much and to think he would never experience it again was unbearable. He clenched his fists in a growing anger and despair.
“Why!?!” he cried to the silence, “Why!?!” Harry sat up in bed, tears filling his bloodshot eyes.
“You said you would come back, you son of a bitch!!” he shouted, “You said you’ll find me!! You told me to wait for you, like you had a plan!?! Is this your fucking plan!?! Dying!?! What am I supposed to do now then, kill myself?! I can’t do that and you knew it!! Was it your plan all along to leave me alone in this godforsaken world!?! You told me you loved me, your asshole!! You don’t just die on the ones you love like that!! You bastard!! I fucking hate you Draco Malfoy!!”
Harry Potter woke suddenly and found himself in his room at the Dursleys. He was covered in sweat and his heart was beating madly, he had woken from a nightmare again. The past month he’d re-experienced two of the worst episodes of his life – the loss of his beloved, through dreams that seemed very much alive. Even though it had been three years, it still seemed so real and he always woke with a face sticky from tears he’d cried in his sleep. Harry sighed and pulled of his covers. He decided on writing to Hermione and tell her about the dreams.
She and Ron lived together in a little house in one of the suburbs of London. They had stated going out shortly after their sixth year. Surprisingly enough they had tried to be very supportive and understanding when the news of Draco’s death occurred and they had finally accepted it and apologized. Draco was accepted by Harry’s friends after his death, when they finally saw just how much their friend had loved their former enemy. Well, better late than never, as one say…
Hermione and Ron had helped, as much as they could, him through his mourning period and had stubbornly been at his side throughout the battle against Voldemort and his death eaters, it was now almost two years ago and the wizard world had been at peace ever since, remembering those who fought and fell for the good cause. Among those were great loses, such as Dumbledore, Arthur Weasley and Remus Lupin.
Harry had gone against every ones expectations of becoming an auror and chosen a carrier as quiddict player instead, he’d become tied of fighting and had decided for more less risky carrier. Even though Harry only had been playing for a year, he were already playing for the English National team in quiddict as the teams seeker and captain, when the World Championship was over, which they would start train for in a weeks time - Harry’s first championship as a player.
Even though it had been three years and a lot had happened in those years, Harry still had a hard time forgetting Draco, not a day went by without him drifting of in some daydream of him and his dead lover. Harry still missed Draco and could break down in tears because of it. He had dated several both boys and girls but none of them was kept for long, none of them could compete with Draco.
Harry was currently still living with the Dursleys while eagerly searching for a flat he could have for himself. Even though he lived with them, he basically took care of himself; he only saw his aunt, uncle and cousin at mealtimes. As he had graduated from Hogwarts he was now allowed to use magic freely and the Dursleys knew, so in fear of him they left him alone.
Harry heard giggling from the room next to his. Dudley’s girlfriend was visiting. For being a muggle, Dudley’s girlfriend, Jessie was kind of pretty and it was still a mystery to Harry how Dudley had won her over. Sure enough Dudley wasn’t a little fat kid anymore he had trained a lot and had become rather muscular, but he was still a dominating asshole, maybe muggle woman liked it that way...? They’ve been together for almost a year, so there had to be something to it.
Dudley still loved teasing Harry and dig into the fact that he was in a happy relationship and Harry was not. He had mentioned Draco, a couple of years back, but it was something he only did ones. Harry’s reaction had been catastrophic.
Harry sighed. He could hear everything that went on in that room and had, much to his regret, been awake many nights. It was nights as those where he felt most lonely and missed Draco the most. He hated when Jessie visited.
Harry sat down by his desk and took out a piece of paper:
Dear Hermione,
How are you and Ron doing? I’m doing okay here… Starting training for the championships next week and I’m looking very much forward to days of from the Dursleys, I haven’t been able to find anything for myself yet… By the way, Jessie is visiting and that might be the cause to the dreams I’ve had recently… Don’t worry, my scar haven’t hurt since Voldemort died, it has nothing to do with that… I dreamt about Draco, the day he was taken away and the day I learned of his death. I can’t describe how horrible it is to experience it again. God most seriously hate me, tormenting me like that… Even though it’s been so long I still can’t forget him, I still can’t believe he really is gone… I miss him so damn much, I…
“Harry!!” Vernon called suddenly, “There is someone at the door asking for you!!”
Harry sighed and got up from his chair and walked out in the hall. Within seconds emerald green eyes met a pair of watery blue and brown hair to the shoulders, belonging to a young man around Harry’s own age. Harry had never seen him before.
“Harry Potter?” he asked in a deep calm voice. Harry nodded. “Can I talk to you for a minute? Alone?” Harry shrugged, turned towards his room and motioned the stranger to follow him. He heard the door being closed behind them as they entered his room. Harry turned and froze...
