He's Slowly Fading Away

“He’s Slowly Fading Away.”

Chapter 1: Horrible Red Scars

It was a snowy December day, as Arthur Weasley, Tonks, Harry Potter, and Ron Weasley slowly crept up the steps of a dingy muggle apartment flat. As they reached the door labled 3C, Arthur silently took out his wand, and the others followed suit. He silently said the spell to unlock the door. They all followed Arthur into the aparment walked towards the door, where they heard low giggling coming from within. Arthur turned back and nodded towards the lot to follow him. With a slow 1..2..3 count, They burst into the room, with wands raised.
“Draco Malfoy. You are under arrest by the Ministry of Magic for the conspiracy of the murder of Albus Dumbledore!”

Ron looked past his father at the young blonde-haired man, lying in the small bed. He looked different from the Draco Malfoy he used to know. He had not seen Malfoy since last year, the day before Dumbledore was killed. It was now the December of his 7th year, and the war had gotten so bad, that 7th years were being recruited to help with missions of the Order. This was Ron and Harry’s first mission. It had been found out that Malfoy was lying low in muggle London. He almost laughed when he had heard that; just thinking of Malfoy being in the company of Muggles.

He didn’t feel like laughing now, though. Draco looked horrible. His blonde hair was to his shoulders, and all in rats. His face was thin and drawn out and he had dark lines under his eyes. He was not wearing a shirt, and Ron could see his extremely thin chest, which was covered with horrible red scars.

As he gawked at Malfoy, he just then noticed the girl lying next to him in bed. She had long black hair, which was tangled in a similar fashion to Malfoy’s. She had sky blue eyes, and extrememly pale skin. She wore a light blue tank top, despite the chill in the room. She was clutching the sheets against her chest, and her face looked calm, but he could see tears well up in her eyes.

Arthur at that moment, grabbed Draco by the arm and pulled him out of bed. Surprising to Ron, Draco did not fight. Arthur let go of him, but pointed his wand at him.
“Get dressed, Mr. Malfoy.” Draco walked slowly over a chair and pulled on a pair of sweats that almost slid off his thin frame, and a jacket. Before Draco put on the jacket, though, Ron caught a quick sight of his Dark Mark and his anger flared up again.

Only then, as Tonks, put a hand on his arm, did the girl make a sound.
“Draco,” a small voice squeaked in a thick Irish accent. “Please no, don’t take him!”

Everyone turned their heads towards the girl, and Ron was surprised when he heard a surprisingly sincere, caring voice come from the mouth of Malfoy.

“Gemma…we knew this day would come. I warned you.”

“But, Draco, no…”

“Please, Gemma, just be strong. I know you are. Just listen to them, okay? Do what they say.”

“No!” She cried out in a desperate voice, as Arthur nodded towards Tonks and Harry, and they led Draco out of the room.

Ron looked over at Gemma who let out a loud sob, and wrapped the sheets around her. Arthur gave a confused look to Ron, and then walked over to the side of the bed.
He stood over the girl.

“Gemma,” he said in a gentle voice. “I am Arthur Weasley, and this is my son, Ron.”

Gemma just looked up at him and over at Ron, giving them a death look that Ron thought rivaled Malfoy’s.

“I know you are scared, and confused, but please, you must come with us so we can talk.

Anna just looked down at her hands, that were twisting the cheap cotton sheets to the point where they almost ripped.

“I will only go with you because Draco said that when the time came…when the time came I must listen to you.” She gasped out between sobs.

Ron watched her as she climbed slowly out of the bed. He saw that along with her blue tank top, she was also wearing white lacy knickers, and soft pink legwarmers. He also noticed that she was very tall and almost reached his height. He tried to look away out of respect, but the way she moved…it broke his heart. It was like her insides were broken and her soul had given up.
After she put on a skirt and sweatshirt, Arthur escorted her from the room, with Ron following, wondering what this girl would tell them about Draco, and maybe even about what had destroyed him and her.
