Possesion In True Form
Chapter One:
Hermione Granger’s heart sank into her stomach, she couldn’t believe that she was back here. Her time at Hogwarts happened to be something she chose to try and not remember, but she could not deny those memories free rein when her thoughts were jumbled. At least no more then she could deny herself breath.
She missed the air here, it was so full of earthy scents, so rich that it threatened to overwhelm her with the memories it brought. She supposed that she should have come back long before now, but how could she? What with all her responsibilities? ‘Ha! Hermione Granger quit making excuses you didn’t want to come back because of him.’ The young woman sighed heavily, her chest constricting in pain. Of course that was the underlying truth. What on earth did she say to him after all that they had been through. There was no excuse for her behavior.
“Hermonyee!” Cordillya Granger tugged at her older sisters robe. “Papa Albus says that you have to come in and eat! And he says that Sammy and Sal are giving him a headache.”
Hermione forced a smile for her sisters sake. “Of course.” The elder Granger grabbed a hold of the miniature hand and walked her towards the Great Hall.
It was midsummer so the hall was still barren of children. Well, with the notable exception to Cordillya, Samuel, and Salazar. Of course they weren’t attending the school at least not for a few years to come.
She had expected her life to have turned out differently then it had. She graduated with what remained of her classmates. Her plan had been to go on and apprentice with Professor Snape to attain her Masters in potions. Of course nothing was ever so simple. She had been working closely with Severus during the war and was two months into her apprenticeship when things took a turn, whether good or bad, time would only tell. They had become close friends, maybe even more, so it was only normal that he was the one to console her when her father was killed and her mother was taken captive for the illustrious Death Eater’s entertainment.
She supposed that’s what set everything in motion, her mother being taken. Harry and Voldermort met two nights later in a bloodshed that would forever be in the history books. They lost many great wizards and witches, on both sides.
That night after leaving her mother’s bruised and battered body to heal in the infirmary, she sought out the comfort of Severus Snape. She searched the dungeons and came up empty. Feeling lost she headed to the Astronomy tower and was surprised to find him there. Without speaking she walked to him and stood at his side.
After awhile she slid her hand against his, then entwined her fingers in his long thin ones. He looked over for the first time startled, but he didn’t pull away.
That was the beginning of something neither could describe, not even now, four years later. They continued their arrangement until the night Cordillya Granger came screaming into the world.
Hermione sat by her mothers bed side once again and held the sleeping bundle in her arms.
“She looks just like you did Hermione ‘cept she has blonde curls.” Helen Granger’s tired voice spoke.
Severus entered the infirmary, his eyes wondering at the sight before him. He stepped back out of the room, knowing that he was intruding on a moment between, a mother and her daughters. He stayed with in ear shot though.
“Mum, I’m sorry that this happened to you. Sorry that I didn’t protect you. I don’t know what I would have down, if you‘d died.” Hermione’s voiced strained as it fought the tears threatening to erupt.
“Hush now darling, Cordillya may not be a product of love, but she will be loved no matter what. Years from now everyone will have forgotten she was a product of a rape, and everyone will have no doubt that she is your sibling. She’ll be intelligent and loving and no one will care where she’s come from.” The older women grabbed Hermione’s free hand. “You promise me you’ll make sure no one treats her badly?”
“Of course Mum, and you’ll be there to be sure that it happens.” Hermione didn’t like the way her mother was talking, “Just get some rest everything will be alright in the morning.” Hermione stood, then placed her new sister into the bassinette next to the bed. She kissed her mother softly on the cheek. “I love you mum.”
“Oh dear, I love you too, you and Cordillya.” The older women smiled and turned over to rest for a few hours, before the baby woke her for a feeding.
Hermione left the room and ran into Severus in the hall.
He held out his arms and pulled her two him, slanting his mouth over hers in what was intended to be a comforting kiss, but soon turned into something else entirely.
He led her too his quarters, and with in minutes the two of them were naked and letting passion help them through the night.
Hours later Hermione woke with a start, something was wrong. She attempted to move but Severus had himself wrapped around her. His leg was draped over hers, his arm curled around her waist. She slowly pushed him off her. He stirred but did not wake.
She quickly threw her clothes back on before leaving his quarters. Her heart was heavy as she trudged up the stairs and through the winding corridors.
When she finally arrived at her destination, the infirmary, Cordillya was screaming and hushed whispers resounded out into the hall. Taking a deep shuddered breath, Hermione fought the fear pounding at her and pushed open the door.
The sight before her made her dizzy. There was blood everywhere…her mother…Oh Circe her mother!
Madame Pomfrey hurriedly placed Cordillya in her arms and went about cleaning up, being careful to avoid any eye contact with her.
Later, how much later she wasn’t sure but later, Madame Pomfrey slipped a sheet over her mothers pail figure.
“Hermione dear, are you okay?” Albus broke through her wandering thoughts.
“Oh of course Albus. Were the twins giving you too much of a hard time?” Hermione lead Cordillya to her seat and watched as her two sons tossed food at one another. She tried very badly to hide her adoring smile as she admonished, “Samuel! Salazar! What did I tell you about throwing your food around?” With a quick wave of her wand she cleared their mess and refilled their plates. Both boys began to pout. “Eat now, if you don’t its bed time.”
Both boys pouted a bit longer before beginning to eat again.
Hermione sat down to eat casting glances towards the doors every now and then.
“He shouldn’t be here for a few more hours.” Albus spoke quietly.
She nodded in understanding, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was watching her.
