The Unexpected
Prologue
Nearing midnight on July 31 Harry Potter decided that it was a perfect night for a walk. The sky was clear and it was not cold outside. He snuck out of his relative’s home and made his way to the park.
In the park, he wandered around, ‘till he spotted a swing set. Even if he was not tired, Harry sat down on the first swing he came to. He rested his head against the chain on his left side, and felt himself relax. He had not realized yet how tense he was, but thought that it would have been strange if he were not tense.
He wondered how he was supposed to fight against Voldemort to fulfill the prophecy. Just like everybody else, he wanted to get rid of Voldemort as soon as possible, but how could a sixteen-year-old boy defeat a dark wizard who had easily killed wizards and witches who were at least twice as old as Harry was and had at least twice as much skill.
Everybody who mentioned Voldemort made it sound like it was easy for Harry to defeat Voldemort. Like, just because he was the ‘boy-who-lived’ he could survive everything, including a mad wizard who was very powerful in his own right, and on top of that even had a lot of followers.
Harry doubted that he would walk away from the final battle alive. He would do everything he could to take Voldemort with him, but he had already accepted it that he would most probably not live to see the Wizarding world rebuild after the war.
AAfter all, every time he met Voldemort he barely escaped, even if he had help from his friends. His friends would have a stroke if they knew that he was alone outside at night, even with his wand. Ron would panic and Hermione would rant that he was mad to go outside with Voldemort looking everywhere for him.
This was also why he hadn’t told them of his nightly ‘escapes’ as this was not the first time he had snuck out, and it would definitely not be the last time. At least, this was what he thought.
Suddenly he heard a twig snap and he scanned his surroundings for anything out of the ordinary. As this was not the case, he let himself get lost in his thoughts again while listening to the rustle of leaves nearby. Then he realized that the soft breeze that was there earlier had stopped, so he looked around again.
Still, he could not see anything out of the ordinary but he felt someone watching him so he decided to head back. He had not even stood up when everything went black around him...
