Always Watching

Always watching. That was all Cedric could do. Watch as his seeker would laugh, talk, breath. Watch his eyes, those beautiful windows of emerald, sparkle with mirth as he patted his friend’s back as Ron doubled over, choking on his food. Watch in jealousy as Harry gave his best friend a one armed hug then blushed an adorable shade of pink when Cho Chang waved at him.
Cedric sighed and picked at his food morosely. What am I doing, he asked himself, smiling when the table erupted in laughter, pretending to find what ever had happened funny.
“Mr. Digg- I mean Cedric,” Cedric inwardly groaned and turned around to meet the grin of Ernie Macmillan, one of his greatest fans, “Are you going to transfiguration yet?”
“I wasn’t planning to go now. I still have 5 minutes.” Cedric turned around and went back to his breakfast. Ernie was in his transfiguration class and was now making it a habit to walk him there every morning.
“Oh ok sir- I mean Cedric.” Ernie stuttered, blushed then practically ran away. Cedric shook his head and went back to his oatmeal.
He watched through narrowed eyes as Harry’s eyes went wide and he shoved his head behind the Daily Prophet. Yelping, Harry shoved the newspaper at Hermione and pointed a shaky finger at it, a vein throbbing in his temple.
“My eyes are NOT swimming with the ghosts of my past!!!” Harry cried out, grabbing the paper back viciously and cramming it into a ball.
‘Hey Jack, let me see that for a bit.” Cedric grabbed the Daily Prophet from a nearby person’s hand
Cedric quickly found what Harry was shouting about. The article about the Triwizard Champions. Well actually, about one of them. Fleur, Viktor and him were nowhere to be found except cramped in a small sentence at the bottom of the paper. Cedric chose to ignore the fact that his name was spelled Sedrik Duggarie and read the whole article. No wonder the boy wonder was so upset. That Rita Skeeter had made his Harry look like a cheap, stupid, overly sensitive little boy who was 12. He’s 14, Cedric said in his mind as he gritted his teeth.
Balling the paper up in his fist, he tossed it over his shoulder carelessly. Getting up from the table, he was surprised to see expecting looks from his house about the article.
“Yeah, the stupid reporter got a lot of facts wrong about Harry didn’t she?” Cedric put on a shaky smile.
“Feh, you got that right,” A guy, Cedric thinks his name is Shane, crosses his arms, “She doesn’t say anything about him entering his name into the goblet does she?”
“Well,” Cedric kept his voice calm, clenching his fist, “Maybe he didn’t”
The Hufflepuff table looked at each and burst out laughing. Cedric watched them in anger for a few moments then pretended to join in.
“Good one Ced,” Shane chuckled, “You really had us there for a moment.”
“You never know, may be he didn’t put his name in the goblet.” Cedric defended Harry, being careful not to seem too eager to defend his seeker.
“If you say so.” Shane flapped his hand at Cedric and stood up, “Let’s go to transfiguration.”
“Wait for me!!!!” Cedric ignored Ernie’s yell and stalked out of the Great Hall, Shane walking leisurely behind with his hands in his pockets and Ernie quickly shuffling after them down the hall.
After Transfiguration, Cedric walked around in the courtyard then lay down on a stone bench. In about 5 minutes, his fan club arrived and started showering him with praise. He noticed moving badges on their chests, “Hey Mary, let me see that badge for a moment.” The said girl blushed and plucked it from her shirt.
Support Cedric Diggory, his smiling face then morphed into Harry’s, Potter Stinks. Cedric gave a weak laugh and handed it back. “Guys guys, do you really think it’s necessary to wear those?”
“Of course, ‘Mary said with a sniff, “After all, you’re the TRUE Hogwart’s champion.”
“Don’t wear them.” Cedric lay back down on the bench.
“Why not? Mary’s right, you didn’t cheat the age line and enter your name in the goblet.” A boy named Jackson interjected
“It wouldn’t be fair,” Cedric murmered, looking up at the sky.
“Well neither is unfairly entering your name into the goblet.” Cedric had to agree with that. Although he didn’t want to believe that he had, it rather seemed that way. Truth be told, he was a little angry at Harry for doing that. For endangering himself. He wouldn’t be able to protect him. Just like last time. Cedric could still remember seeing him tumbling in the air as he fell from his broomstick during the quidditch game. He hadn’t even noticed that Harry had fell, reaching up to grab the snitch. His elation evaporated as soon as he saw the crumpled figure on the ground.
Cedric clenched his fist, he was pathetic. A pretty boy that didn’t have enough brains to fill an eggcup. The only reason he did good in every class was because he knew how to charm his teachers. Grimacing at himself, Cedric let his mind flow to the compliments that his fan club was showering on him. Feeling the false pride start to flow through his veins, and hating himself for it.
“Cedric?” Cedric’s eyes instantly flew open when he heard Harry’s voice. He sat, ignoring the boos and catcalls that were directed at the seeker standing in front of them. Who would have thought that the boy standing in front of him would shake the most feared wizard in the world? His emerald eyes gazed up at him, windows into his soul that were barred shut, thanks to the jeers being called from the hufflepuffs around him. Harry clutched at the strap of his bag and pushed his glasses up onto his nose. His face was delicately structured and his jet black hair flopped messily into his face. Cedric towered two heads over him, which made him want to pull Harry into his arms and feel the lithe body melt into his.
“Can I have a moment?” The words were forced from gritted teeth as Harry tried to hide his frustration at the Hufflepuffs.
“Um…Sure.” Cedric’s heart was racing and he awkwardly stood up.
“Potter stinks!!!” Jackson called after them. Cedric gave them a weak smile and followed Harry behind a bush.
“Dragons.” Cedric barely heard Harry say it, too busy on throwing reassuring smiles at the group and trying to restrain himself from punching Jackson in the face.
“Wait what?”
“Dragons. The first task is dragons.” Harry muttered it in a frenzied whisper.
“shut up Jack- Wait, are you serious?” Cedric focused his gaze on Harry’s face. He saw the truth in those green eyes as Harry nodded.
“shi-“ Cedric muttered as he ran his hand through his hair.
“Hurry up Ced, he’s not worth it!”
“Potter stinks!”
“Let’s go!”
Cedric could have stayed there with Harry forever but when he saw Harry’s face cloud in anger, he hastened to explain the badges.
“Look about the badges. I asked them not to wear them but…” Cedric grabbed Harry’s arm.
“Don’t worry about it.” The gryffindor’s face had hardened and he jerked his arm out of Cedric’s hold. Cedric watched him hurry away before the Hufflepuff’s called him away. He had saw the pain and betrayal in those eyes for a split second before Harry had turned away.
“I need to go to class.” Cedric told the group through gritted teeth. He turned around and stalked back to the bushes, intent on making a full apology to his seeker when he burst in on a rather interesting sight.
There was a white ferret burrowing its way down a shrieking Crabbe’s pants. Goyle fumbled at his friend’s waistband, trying the pull it out when he let out a girlish yowl and pulled his hand out, shaking his finger. Crabbe danced an interesting jig around the oak tree as a lump moved its way down his right pant’s leg. Cedric felt a reluctant smile come onto his face.
“What is the meaning of this?” Professor McGonagall burst in on the hilarious scene. She eyed the jumping Crabbe with apphrension as the ferret dug its way out of the pants and scurried to the floor.
“Teaching.” Mad Eye Moody grunted
“Teach- is that a student?” McGonagall shrieked, she waved her wand and Draco Malfoy materialized in front of her, his usually neat hair, mussed and had twigs in it.
“Move along, nothing to see here.” McGonagall ushered the watching students out and Cedric caught a split second glance of Harry’s face. It was lit up in genuine happiness as he grinned, watching Moody chase Malfoy around the oak tree. Cedric smiled crookedly and allowed McGonagall to sweep him away.
“so what did the little shit want?” Jackson shoved his face into Cedric’s as soon as he walked into the Hufflepuff common room.
“None of your blooming business Jackson. And don’t call him that.” Cedric could barely prevent himself from punching Jackson in the face.
“And why shouldn’t I? He’s a cheater trying to take OUR glory.” Jackson retorted to nodding heads.
“It’s not YOUR glory. And besides, he’s a friendly rival. And I must repay the courtesy he just paid me.” Cedric replied as calmly as he could.
“What courtesy? What did the little fourth year do? Suck you off?” Jackson snapped at him. The common room fell silent, realizing that Jackson had crossed a line. Jackson seemed to realize it too as he stood there, breathing heavily. Cedric pulled his arm back then punched the other boy in the face as hard as he could. Not waiting to see what had became of Jackson, Cedric turned around on his heel and stalked up the stairs, his calm face betraying the flurry of emotions that ran underneath.
Anger played a large part as well as the images that Jackson’s comment had invoked in Cedric’s mind. He leaned against the wall heavily as the image of Harry on his knees, full lips around his- No, Cedric pushed himself away from the wall. He wouldn’t think of Harry that way. Flushed and moaning as he writhed in- Stop it, Cedric ordered his mind before you give me a…too late. The erotic images had Cedric hiding the tell tale signs of an erection beneath his billowing robes.
Damn it, Cedric growled underneath his breath. What was wrong with him? He had a majority of the girls’ affections. I mean come on, Fleur Delacour was into him and she was the very epitamy of beautiful with her curvaceous body and luxuriant tresses and she had no effect on him. Only Harry would have any affect on his body. Only him. There was nothing Cedric could do about it and that in itself frustrated him the most.
