Hermione crept into the dark room, the only light coming from the window where the silver moon could be seen. She shut the door quietly and looked around. There it was.
Tilting her head up, Hermione searched the portraits of the dead Head Masters of Hogwarts. Her amber eyes met a pair of twinkling blue.
\"Professor?\" She breathed.
\"Ah, Miss Granger, I am glad that you have come sooner rather than later, like I knew you would.\" Dumbledore smiled.
\"You knew I would come?\" She said frowning.
\"You are one of the cleverest people I know,\" He said, \"Why wouldn\'t you come if you thought there was something wrong?\"
Hermione sighed.
\"Professor, I’m sorry if I’m mistaken,\" She gulped down her insecurities, \"But, I don\'t think Professor Snape is a cold blooded killer. I think you told him to kill you. Am I right?\"
The portrait blinked slowly. Then he smiled a brilliant smile.
\"I knew you would see the bigger picture Miss Granger,\" He beamed, \"You are right.\"
\"Well, can you help me?\" She asked frantically, \"He\'s rotting in Azkaban! What can I do!?\"
Hermione had always been told that she was too compassionate for her own good, and maybe she was, but she would do every thing in her feeble power to help an innocent man.
\"You, Miss Granger, have the power to get Severus his life back, -maybe a better life than he had- but only if you really believe. If you do this half-heartedly, you will get him out, but if you leave him alone after, it would have been for nothing.\" The old painting implored.
\"I believe that Professor Snape is innocent,\" Hermione said in a strong voice, \"And I want to help. I will go all the way to make sure he has the life he deserves.\"
