Words could never say it
words could never say it
I know now you're gone
and I can't go on

Where could you be tonight
I'm sayin' my sorry
baby I'm sorry

'Cause without your love in my life I'll die
I was wrong
I was so wrong

And I'm so scared
what can I do now
when I close my eyes
all I see is you

Now words could never say it
words could never say it
if there’s a reason why
say it's a lie

Words could never say it
how I feel now
now that you're gone
now that you're gone

Now that you're gone
we made it now
we made it love
we made such fools
of ourselves
we made it up now
you made it up oh yeah

you know you made it hard
we made it fast
I always thought
it would last
we took a bow
we did it all oh yeah

Words could never say
could never say
could only play
someone could say
would only playing with ourselves

Words could never say
how I feel now
some how
I've got find a way

cause when I dream at night alls I see is you
you're wantin' me
and me havin' you

Now words could never say it
words could never say it
every time I try
I get lost inside

Chapter One - The Arrival

The halls of the school were dim and vacant, as they usually were at 11 o'clock at night. Rain battered the windows and walls of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the first fall rain of the year. It was early September, only the second week of school, and it wasn't particularly cold yet, but lightning flashing outside made up for it. A lone figure walked through the deserted halls; flawless platinum blond hair cut perfect, a pointed and very handsome face, and a glittering prefect badge pinned to his cloak.

Draco Malfoy made his way lazily down the top oversee balcony to the Great Hall and down the stairs to the Entrance Hall, heading toward the stairwell that would lead to the secret passageway to the Slytherin common room and his dormitory. The young prefect could hardly help but to smile, vaguely wondering if Pansy Parkinson would be waiting for him... She often was, whether he welcomed it or not. It was one reason he enjoyed Slytherin's prefect patrol - he usually got back so late, he could dictate whether Pansy was awake or not.

As he reached the bottom of the stairs, he heard something of a racket coming from the huge oak front doors, and as he turned to look, one of the large panels opened inward, and Draco paused to see who it was at this hour. He saw four figures make their way inside, sopping wet from head to foot. One was the idiot half-giant groundskeeper, Hagrid, holding the door open with one hand as he showed the other three inside, and promptly shutting it behind him. He was holding a full sized trunk easily under his arm. The second was holding a glass lantern, steaming from the chilly rain, a cat sliding quickly out from under the cloak into the dry hall. Filch. The other two Draco had never seen before lowered their hoods and shook the water from themselves soundly.

The tallest was a man of middle age, dark haired with a slight spattering of pepper gray, brilliant eyes and a smile to match. The other was a girl Draco's age... In fact, she was the most beautiful girl Draco had ever seen. Her hair was like liquid ebony, disappearing under her cloak, a blue, white and green scarf wrapped around her throat, and eyes that sparkled in a color Draco could not discern in simple lamp light. She was a bit shorter than average, and beneath the cloak that parted as she moved, she wore a white silk shirt and navy skirt, along with shoes that, unless he was very much mistaken, were made of gray dragon skin.

"Mr. Malfoy," growled a voice behind him, causing him to jump and turn round. Professor McGonagall was behind him, arms crossed and looking disapproving. "Curfew for prefects was ten minutes ago," she said. "I suggest you make your way back to the Slytherin common room and go to bed."

"Yes, Professor... of course," he said in his drawl, moving out of her way and down the rest of the stairs. But he paused again, watching as McGonagall moved toward the visitors.

"Greetings, Dr. Matthews," McGonagall said rather cheerfully, shaking the middle-aged man's hand, her smile more genuine than Malfoy had ever seen before. "Welcome back to Hogwarts. I'm sorry the weather didn't welcome you as warmly as I hope you find my fellow staff members and the students will."

"I'm glad to be here, Professor McGonagall," said the man, Mr. Matthews, in a strong voice, smiling wider at the appearance of Professor McGonagall. "I contemplated staying in Hogsmeade and coming first thing in the morning, but there were no rooms available in the inn. Besides, someone was eager to get here." He smiled down at the girl, and gently placed his arm between her shoulders. "This is my daughter, Emily Rose." The girl with black hair smiled up at Professor McGonagall, and took her hand as it was offered.

"A pleasure, dear," McGonagall said warmly. "I hear you are quite the extraordinary witch." At this, the girl, Emily, blushed very deeply, but didn't say anything, bowing her head deeply and shaking McGonagall's hand. Her eyes cut past her, and she looked shocked and embarrassed as she saw Malfoy standing there on the stairs, staring. "Malfoy!" Professor McGonagall scowled as she looked back at him when Emily flushed. "Back to your common room before I take points from Slytherin." Draco didn't need to be told again, and he hurried to the stature, whispered the password, and slid down the dark, dank corridor to the Slytherin common room.

Inside the stone room clad in black, silver and green leather, banners and portraits, he found, as he'd half expected, Pansy Parkinson waiting for him in an overstuffed chair in front of the fire. Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle were there as well, waiting for Malfoy to return. A few of the other older Slytherins were awake also, working on studying for their O.W.L.s and their N.E.W.T.s, and the excessive amounts of homework the Professors had been giving them for over the weekend. Pansy rose to her feet and smiled sweetly (a little too sweet in Draco's opinion) as she glided to his side. "I was wondering when you would come, I've been waiting for you," she purred with a flutter of the eyelashes and a cold hand on Draco's cheek.

Draco had to fight not to flinch at the cold, and smirked at Pansy, stepping inside the common room and flinging himself down comfortably on the couch. "I was distracted. We have visitors at Hogwarts." The others looked somewhat surprised - Hogwarts rarely got visitors, and even rarer did they come on a night such as this.

"Visitors...?" asked Pansy as she sat down at Draco's head and began to stroke his hair idly. "That's odd, isn't it..." she murmured, and Draco had to grit his teeth with annoyance.

"Well, one's a girl. She looks like about our age... And the other's a man, middle-aged, looked like her father," he said.

"Maybe she's an exchange student," Crabbe suggested off-handed.

"It would make sense as to why the groundskeeper had a trunk... and the man who was with them, his accent was strange. American, I think. We're only a few weeks into the term, it wouldn't be too late for a transfer," said Draco distractedly. "I heard McGonagall call the girl ‘extraordinary.' I've never heard the old bag call anyone anything but a ‘delinquency' or ‘unique,' certainly never ‘extraordinary'." If she was indeed an exchange student, Malfoy thought as a smile touched his mouth, perhaps she'll be put in Slytherin. That would indeed be very, very nice... at least then he could attempt to have someone at his side besides Pansy, Crabbe and Goyle. If she was indeed as exceptional as Professor McGonagall seemed to think, it would be a nice change of conversation.
