Chapter 1 ~ "The Ball Begins"
Note: Okay, these stories are based on something that is going on in GaiaOnline. The Harry Potter Fanatics Guild is having a Fall Ball that lasts through September, and I’m writing my own special rendition of it. Now, some things or people might sound weird, but you would understand if you were taking place in the ball. I hope you like it!
By the way, I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS!!! If I did Remus Lupin would be mine forever!
Chapter 1
“The Ball Begins”
From the moment she stepped into the grand ballroom, Katie knew it would be a night to remember. The hall was decorated for fall. Fallen leaves of all shades graced the floor, and the stars twinkled in the bewitched ceiling.
Groups gathered together, their laughter echoing throughout the hall. In the middle of it all were the two hostesses Mirei and Jessie. Both were stunning in their evening ware, even though they were being worn ragged with mingling. Every so often the giggles of Mirei could be heard as Gino told a joke. Or the fierce yells of Jessie as she caught her date George made another prank on the guests.
Katie waved at Mirei when the girl looked in her direction and received a large smile in return. The blond weaved her way through the crowds, her date trailing behind her.
“Katie! I’m so glad you could come!” she trilled as she pulled the bluenette into a warm hug. Gino grinned and kissed her hand in greeting.
“Mirei, everything looks wonderful! You and Jessie truly outdid yourselves on this one!” Katie commented. The name George sounded across the ballroom, causing the trio to laugh.
“Is he doing pranks again?”
“Yes. Moe came with Fred, but she is trying to keep them separated,” Mirei looked around and saw figure heading towards the refreshments.
“Oh no, Bahamut is trying to spike the drinks again. Sorry Katie, I gotta go!”
Katie laughed slightly and shook her head. Leave it to Mirei to notice these things. The girl began to walk through the crowds, smiling and waving at those she knew. She giggled when her eyes caught Moe and Fred dancing closely to the Electric Slide.
“So cute,” she whispered. Turning away she scanned the walls, looking for a place to hang out. She visibly started when a golden gaze met hers.
“Remus Lupin.”
A blush drifted to her cheeks. She had seen the Gryffindor in school, but had never gotten a chance to speak with him. He was always with his Marauder friends, or studying in the library. Though they were in the same house their paths had never officially crossed.
“Do you want me to introduce you?” a twinkling voice asked from her left. Katie swung around and looked into the laughing green eyes of Mirei.
“What?”
“Come on Katie, I saw you looking at him! Do you want me to introduce you or not?”
Gino smiled at his date’s words and put in his own two cents.
“Don’t worry, Remus is a nice man. He won’t bite your head off or anything. No pun intended.”
Mirei chuckled and grabbed Katie’s arm. Powerless to stop the matchmaking host, Katie soon found herself standing in front of her long time crush.
“Remus Lupin, I have found you a date! Meet Katie Slayer, a fourth year Gryffindor! I hope you two….DANG IT BAHAMUT, STEP AWAY FROM THOSE DRINKS! Bye you two!”
Katie watched the pair go, a blush tinting her cheeks. A sigh could be heard from behind her.
“She’s been trying to find me a date this whole night. I suppose you just got lucky.”
His deep, wistful voice sent a small shudder down her body. Goosebumps rose on her arms. Dang, this wasn’t good.
‘Deep breaths,’ she thought to herself, ‘Deep breaths and don’t look in his eyes. Dang it, why are you turning? Don’t look in his…dang it…puddle of mush’
“Yeah…lucky me…”
