When the Lines of Reality Become Blurred

When the lines of reality become blurred

“What makes you think I’d even want you?” he spat forcefully at her.
“Because”, she said, “it is a wicked time, and all that goes with that.”

Ok, so bear with me, I am currently looking for a new beta so my grammar is atrocious!! Hope ya enjoy this, it’s a prologue for my sparkly new story!

...................................................................................................

A girl who may never have been considered conventionally beautiful lay with one leg bent and the other stretched out, one hand laid over her shoulder and the other splayed across her stomach. Her eyes sparkled with resonance and passion, passion many men strived to capture from her to no avail. Her long tresses rested around her head which was titled to one side. Here she was beautiful, here no man would ever be able to garner the affections of her mind or her body. The raw beauty was formerly unimaginable but yet, at this very moment, it was present here, in this very room. And that was how he would see her, forever in his mind.
Shuddering he exited through the door behind him, silently, this was war, there was no telling of what would happen tomorrow. He would not have her, now or ever, whether there was a war or not. Who was he trying to fool, he did not possess feelings for this woman, he was merely attracted to the qualities that had attracted many more flocks of men to her. It was simply her exquisite form of beauty, her confidence, her profuse acumen, and even her kindness that took him here. Still, he was drawn to her; he couldn’t help himself about it.
Still, he found himself, yet again, observing her through hooded lids as he stood in the doorway. She never looked at him, she never looked at any of them. She merely lay sprawled on the chaise lounge in contemplation, she never looked at him when she spoke his name, he wasn’t sure if she even knew he was there at all.

....................................................................................................

He represented everything to her, beauty and strength in a time where there was none left. No women or girl would ever come to consider him handsome, but she did regardless. She observed him through barely opened eyes, his back arched and his long legs stretched out to the floor. The harsh lines of his face were contorted into something different, nothing that could be construed as striking, but to her it was. The way his large palms held the mug of steaming tea, the way his long, elegant fingers stretched around it. The manner in which his eyes smoldered, holding some unknown emotion in them, something akin to the desperate need of the times they now lived in everyday; and his nose prominent and austere. Even his lips were entrancing; she couldn’t help it when her gaze was drawn there.
He thought that she didn’t know he watched her, he thought that she didn’t notice. But she did, she felt his gaze upon her, but she could never bring herself to look back. Instead, she found herself seeking him out where she knew he would be, and then she would watch him. She longed to be with him, longed to have him, but she knew she never would. He wouldn’t want her, and he never would. She tried to dismiss herself, tell herself it was fascination, and it was, but it was so much deeper than just that.
She wished he would look at her, but he never would, sometimes she doubted he knew she was there. She tried to stop herself from watching him, but yet she continuously found herself day after day, just watching him. He didn’t even know she was there.

….......................................................................................................

But he did, or at least he thought she was there, but he was too afraid to look, afraid that it would all be just an illusion to hurt him further.
