Disclaimer:
I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Hot Spots
Disclaimer: I don’t own anything from J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter but I do own some of the characters in here. I couldn’t resist putting my pet into this world.
A/N: I know many people don’t like OCs but I got great responses from FFN so here is the unedited and ‘hopefully’ better version.
Hot Spots
This was going to be a bad day.
She could feel the villager’s hostility burning through her back. Suddenly something hard smacked into the small of her back. Slowly she turned around her, eyes blazing red.
“You shouldn’t have done that.” Her voice was like silk sliding over the ears of those watching her in fear. One of the braver townsmen sent her a universal rude gesture. A small smirk graced her lips and amusement danced her eyes. She turned again. Before she had taken two steps the village exploded in flames.

Harry shot out of unconsciousness. He looked at his bed in horror. The sheets were crisp to the touch and his curtains were smoldering.
“What the hell?” Ron sat up in his bed. “What in Merlin’s name is that smell?”
“It’s nothing,” Said Harry. “Just go back to sleep.” Quickly Harry cast a dousing spell and the little sparks were extinguished. ‘I wonder what made that happen.’ He listened to Ron preparing to return to sleep just before…
“Harry!” Hermoine called as she banged on the dorm room door. “Ron! Get out of bed t not now or you are going to miss breakfast!” At the mention of the word breakfast Ron shot out of bed and into the bathroom before Harry even had a chance to turn around. ‘Right on time Hermoine.’
Harry was quiet throughout his morning routine and by the time the trio reached the Great Hall his face had become introverted and his eyes unfocused.
“Is something wrong mate? You look worried. Is it something about the burning smell in the room this morning?” Asked Ronile ile fixing his mouth around a spoonful of oatmeal.
“What burning smell?” Hermoine looked at Ron knowing she could get information out of him easier. Harry shot a glare at Ron before he could open his mouth again.
“It was nothing Herm.”
“Don’t you think that I know when you are lying Harry? Whenever you say it is nothing that means it was something. Something big. Was it He Who Must Not Be Named?” Her voice which had been low to begin with became an almost inaudible murmur.
“Did you feel him again Harry?”
“No nothing like that. I just left one of the candles too close to my bed last night and my curtains caught on fire.” Harry explained. For a moment Hermione looked satisfied before a telltale twitch of her eye preceded her next question.
“What were you needing the extra light for Harry?”
“I was studying. The book was handwritten and I needed more light.” Finally Hermione seemed finished as she turned to her own neglected breakfast. Then up at the head table Dumbledore stood and the Great Hall became silent.
“It has come to my attention that odd occurrences have been happening to some of you students. If anything unusual should happen please inform either me or the nearest teacher. Thank you.” He sat back down among murmurs that were filtering through all four tables.
“What does he mean unusual? This is Hogwarts…the unusual is usual.” Hermione was confused and it showed.
“That should be our motto.” The sound of a hand meeting an unsuspecting head taught Ron that he should not try to be clever in the morning.
“This is serious. Dumbledore must mean He Who Must Not Be Named!”
Harry remained silent amid the whispers of Gryffindor table. ‘I wonder if my dream would be considered unusual. At least my bed catching fire should.’
