Battle of the Veil

The characters involved belong to JKR and I do not make any money off of this fiction. However, Sapphire Raven does belong to me. This is an idea that I once role played with my first ever Professor Snape. I will be periodically adding chapters so keep in touch! He has taught me well over the last year, and has become a high alliance. This story is dedicated to him.

This story in general will contain violence, vampirism, rape, and receiving the Dark Mark very graphically. If your stomach is weak then be fore warned!

She was a loner most of the time at Hogwarts, a scrawny girl with pale features and knee length black hair. She hid her dark green eyes behind a pair of wide rimmed glasses. Not that she really needed them, she mainly wore them to keep her peers from seeing her eyes. They were mysterious and could catch any person off guard who looked into them long enough. She kept to herself most of the time excelling in her favorite class, Potions. Her mind was sharp, yet classmates often teased her of being the teacher\'s pet. Especially since it was Professor Snape. The day that she most vividly remembered was when Granger had caused her cauldron to blow up turning her black hair into a shade of pumpkin orange. Granger had been jealous of her knowing that the Professor has seemed to be easier on her than Granger. Potions was the last class on her schedule, and the Professor had demanded that both stayed after.

\"Miss Raven,\" his voice came from across the room that sent shivers down each of the students spines. As the cauldron blew up in her face, and the students around her started to laugh, the Professor coolly walked up behind her. \"Do you seem to think it\'s funny to distract my class?\" He glared down upon her. She was totally covered from head to toe. Then all of a sudden her long black hair turned a bright orange. It then clumped up in wads. Just then a voice from the back of the room spoke, \"That will teach her. she won\'t be in class for atleast the next month trying to get that all out.\" Sapphire watched as the Professor walked over to Miss Granger who had her back turned to him and was looking at Ron when she said what she did. Ron\'s face grew pale as he knew the Professor had heard her. \"Miss Granger, you will report to Professor McGonnogal, IMMEDIATELY.\" His voice echoed through out the class room. By this time Sapphire was in tears. He then dismissed the rest of the class and prepared a howler to send along with Granger. \"That will be 150 points from Gryffindor, Miss Granger. And you can forget about advanced potions. As far as I\'m concerned you are out of my class.\" Sapphire watched as Granger walked out the classroom in huff and glared at her as she did.

The Professor then walked over to the door and closed and locked it. He then spelled the door to remain private. Sapphire was rather scared at this point. Not knowing what to expect as his black robes bellowed out from behind him as he quickly walked to his private store room. She sat there quietly. He took out a large purple vial and walked over to her. \"Miss Raven, if you wish to save your hair, you will allow me to perform this cleansing on it. It seems Miss Granger was determined to make all you hair fall out.\" She didn\'t even want to know what she looked like. She sat there as instructed but tried to hide her pain from him. He poured some of the potion into his hands and began to work her hair and chanted something she couldn\'t even begin to recognize. She leaned into the chair as he worked his fingers through the knots untangling them with care. She couldn\'t believe that he would actually care for someone this way. As she sat there she had finally relaxed. It seemed like hours had passed.

She knew he had a way of reading a person\'s mind, and tried to block him out. She didn\'t want him to know how she really felt about him. She figured he would never have returned the same thoughts of her. As she quietly relaxed, her spirit tried to leave. She felt as though she couldn\'t control it this time as she had been able to in times before. As her breathing slowed, she felt herself lift out of her body. Her transparent figure slowly floated above the two of them. At first she was able to look down and see that the Professor had restored her hair and was brushing it out when he looked up and saw her spirit above him. He dropped the hair brush and looked back up at her. This startled her and she was thrown back into her body. She opened her eyes at the sound of his voice, \"Miss Raven,\" he said in a low stern voice, \"You do realize I will have to report this to the Headmaster?\" She shook her head, \"Please, Sir, you do not realize what risk that would be...if Malfoy ever knew you know now...\" Her voice trailed off when she realized she had mentioned Malfoy\'s name....\"Yes, Miss Raven? You were saying?\" She looked back at him for a moment and headed for the door. She took out her wand and shouted, \"Alohamora\" and unlocked his door. She ran out with tears in her eyes....

The next day she was called over to the Malfoy Mansion. Lucius strode into the waiting room where she was sitting. He looked down upon her. \"How dare you risk our plans knowing that it would get back to Dumbledore?!\" She tried to speak only to find the back of his hand across her face. A trail of blood went down the side of her lip. \"Go back to your apt, tonight and pack your things. You will receive a letter with all 12 signatures on it. An Azkaban guard will escort you from Hogwarts. Don\'t even think of contacting anyone if you wish to live.\" She then got up and rushed out with a house elf following her. She got back to her place to find the Azkaban guard already standing at the door...

She quickly went in trying not to look upon it\'s cold face. As she gathered her things, there was a knock at her door. There was Lucius, the Minister of Magic, Professor McGonnogal, and Dumbledore. Lucius handed her the letter and with a sneer, \"You\'ll find all twelve signatures in place.\" As she took the letter from she looked over at Professor McGonnogal who was raising and eyebrow at him and one could see on their faces that they didn\'t care to be there as they forced to. Sapphire grabbed her luggage and headed out the door. They walked her to the lake\'s edge where a boat was perched upon the shore line. The Dementor pointed to the boat and Sapphire got in.

She looked back up at the castle as the Dementor stepped into the boat. She could see that the Professor was working late in his office. She saw his figure in the window and she wanted to scream. Just then the Dementor nodded to Lucius and the boat floated off into the darkness......(To be continued)
