What a treat! I love dark character studies, though they are rarely captured as masterfully as this.
Truly artwork,

I started reading this whole story and I could not stop- the style kept moving me along. It\'s 2:30 AM so forgive me if this review is a bit disjointed.

First I have never read a story of this style in ficdom. I can only describe it as poetic, and highly intellectual. The craft and selection of words shows you are a very experienced writer. It is so introspective. Am I reading the memiors of Severus Snape? The dialog is in character. The imagery is oustanding and I feel inadequate because I cannot come up with words that suit a review of this story. I am dumbstruck. It\'s brilliant.

The angst and horror are at such a level and I can taste the emotional wretching. I cried at the scene with the witch and laughed at the scene with the banana. The scene where Voldemort protects Severus was strangely touching due to the horror of the environment, like Voldemort was the only being that valued him yet valued little else. The dream scenes are art, especially the one where SS has wings and seeks shelter in them. I swear you must be a professional writer. Of the gems on ficnet, many are professional writers. You could do this for a living. on on earth do you create this?

The title hooked me into this story. Making personal objects from the hair of the dead was a mourning ritual that died out in the early 19th century.

Its hard to think of this story as R rated, I think of it as public art. Breathtaking.

I WILL be following this story, in awe, and await your next post.

Breathtakingly evocative, as usual! The whole paragraph describing Snape waking in pitch darkness was great, but especially its last image,

JESU!!!! Woman, that small amount of prose just blew me out of my chair and nearly through the shatter-proof window of this office building. This story is such a mind-blowing ride. I step away from each chapter with shaking hands and a racing heart. Pardon me while hunt doomeoomeone to sell me a little liquid valium to calm down.

Brilliant, my dear! As always.

Another stunning chapter. The twins are fascinating and very enigmatic. I especially enjoyed the interaction between them and Snape. That cool, elegant snark really comes out, especially in that parting shot of \"all that passion drowning in a frozen sea.\" The imagery is so powerful youryour Snape characterization is brilliant. He is spiritual, complex, reserved and filled with such humanity.

oh my, oh my, oh my!!! What a hell of a cliffhanger. The first part of the chapter is such a perfect description of how someone feels when first waking up from a nightmare. I think we can all relate to it and you captured it perfectly. As it continued, the reader gets a real feel for the brooding meance that is the return of Voldemort. I could almost see dark clouds drifting over the script as I read.

However, my very favorite part of this chapter was the end. That touch of Dumbledore adding sugar to Minerva\'s cup. Lovely and oh so telling. It is often the smallest of details that give us away. And then Minerva\'s reaction and Snape\'s tension as he came to the realization that he may have revealed something that should have been kept close to the vest. Wonderful!!

Z, you are without a doubt, a superb writer and storyteller. I enjoy many fictions, finding they all have something of interest, value or scope that make them exceptional. However, only yours and A Dark Herbal by TSH9S actually make me get up and stagger away from my chair, breathless.

Wonderfully emotive writing. Reminds me very much of Mervyn Peake; the enigmatic Katla, the disturbing oneness of the twins, the descriptions, the angel wings...lovely stuff.
