Interesting juxtaposition with the house elf story and Severus/Hermione, contrasting a truly abusive relationship in which the victim is unwilling to admit to the severity of the abuse and rejects help and a consensual BDSM relationship where the submissive knows she can safe-word out of a scene if she's pushed too hard. Granted, there hasn't been an explicit scene here in which they talk about Hermione being able to use a safe word and stop, but as she's a more experienced adult in this story, I assume she knows that.

I love your take on Severus. You've nailed how I think he probably would be - emotionally distant and perhaps even emotionally stunted in some ways, afraid to get too close to someone, perhaps even using sexual dominance as a way to keep someone from getting too close. I loved his thought process as they were kissing on the sofa. I could definitely see Hermione becoming OCD in an AU where the epilogue doesn't exist and she's not shackled to Ron.

This is quite good. I can't wait to read more. I really like that she knows what she wants (at least on some level) and what she's getting herself into. I really can't wait to see what happens over the next few weeks. Especially as her friends may find out.

I'm really loving this story and how complex your characters are. I especially enjoy the neurosis you have Hermione display. It feels very realistic for how she was portrayed in the books.

I don't normally like chapters where the entire text is correspondence between characters, but you've done a wonderful job with this one. I read it thinking that they'd certainly be shocked when the realized the identity of the other person. In response to your A/N - noooooo, I don't see Lucius as submissive at all. To me he's just inherently dominant in a way Draco is not, although I could see him as a total hedonist who is willing to try almost anything and who has pretty kinky tastes. I loved the Severus/Hermione/Draco relationship in Teaching Miss Granger, and I loved that she interact with Lucius at Eros and that he spanked her and found her attractive. I was disappointed that he found out who she was so quickly and then never really interacted intimately with her again. I would love to see your take - maybe not in this story but in a future one if you're so inspired - in which Hermione is involved with Severus and Lucius both/together.

Wow. So much in this chapter! I loved their reaction to discovering each others' identity. The parts with Hermione expressing survivor guilt were hard to read, but still powerful. I was worried her emotional state and the war talk would ruin the overall sexiness of their interaction, but the sex was incredibly hot. The dynamic here is really interesting to me because she's so much older than she was in TMG. I struggled in a few places with TMG because there were a few issues where consent felt a little bit dubious, so I like that she's older here and has had some life experience and is more knowledgeable about what she wants and hopefully a little more comfortable speaking up. FTR, I have nothing against dub-con or even non-con in a story when a character is portrayed as dark, but there were a few places in TMG where I was a little uncomfortable. Anyway, I loved this chapter and the progression in their relationship. I look forward to reading more and seeing what comes next for them!
