I both hate and love this story lol. It is well written and I am just amazed with how much I prefer this version over the original. Not every part, mind you, but the overall theme puts some of the original to shame. Mainly with how Voldemort handled the fact that Neville could have been the bot of prophecy. I hated how it was kind of glossed over at times and feel like some as evil as he would have made sure both boys where taken care of just to be on the safe side. Maybe not to extent of killing them both but pretty much like it was done here. With him trying to kill the one he felt best fit and someone else going after the other. Also, not to speak of abuse as though it isn't devastating in an variety, but I always thought the original idea of it was kind of silly. The Dursley are terrible people but only just so. I can't really think of them doing anything that would cause Harry Potter lasting damage in the original series. Yes, they were horrible, but he went on to meet some amazing families and gained a better understanding on what it truly means to have friends and loved ones. They felt more like negelctful bullies who could be easily ignored at times. Using words to hurt him. While I do not think sexual abuse would have made it better I feel like it was still a little PG in the way it was handled. Like they made the family a little relatable where everyone, no matter their background, could pick and choose a moment where there family had done the same.
Your story has so much life and I found myself rooting for people I had originally hated in the past. I kind of liked how Harry didn't know everyone or everything that was going on. We got an outsiders view to events and it was pretty cool.
