Ah yes, life sometimes gets in the way of the best laid plans and throws you curve balls to derail you. It's great that you showed such a realistic scenario, even with magic around.
Plus I thoroughly enjoyed their reunion.

Wow, what a chapter. Didn't see the move coming quite so quickly but I am happy for them and that Charlie did it on his own free will. Hope he won't regret giving up working with dragons, then again he's getting older too and might want to do something that is not as potentially life-threatening.

Perfect ending. Gina also moving to be closer to her new family was a nice touch, with both of them making compromises for their future together.
Anyway, congratulations on finishing your first story and putting it out there for others to read. That takes guts.

I'm glad they cleared this up. And Charlie organising it for the last couple of days was so fitting for them - it might all have happened in a relatively short amount of time but it works for them. Why stick to other people's time tables on when things have to happen? As long as they are both ok with it, all is good.
As for your new idea - in case you're worried because it's different to this story, don't be. If you would always write more or less similar plotlines all the time, you'd get bored with it which might impact your enthusiasm for writing. Furthermore, readers also enjoy a bit of variety from time to time.
