I was with Remus all of Chapter 35, no idea WHAT Snape was up to...I think my train of thought went something like: wait, why is Snape agreeing to this so easily? Oh, good, there'll be rules about it, I bet it's all a trick and the rules will be- wait, no, they aren't restrictive at ALL. umm, this is so not okay. SNAPE. what are you doooiiiing???
I had zero idea what was going on. Is he going to lock the guy in the basement? Is this the full moon already somehow and he's going to stick him in there with Remus when he transforms? Then it was so obvious when it happened, I can't believe I didn't think of it - and it's not all that easy for a book to completely surprise me with a plot twist.
I thought about it afterwards and I don't think it could've happened any other way - if Severus had given Remus any indication that he wasn't completely serious about going through with it, the inspector would've caught on and would never have signed the papers and followed Snape into a basement. And Snape did need to get him alone for that. I was annoyed at him at first, though, putting Remus through such emotional craziness. Their little scene in the basement afterwards was quite a nice surprise, though I'm glad Snape gave him an actual, proper apology later, too.
And the bit with Teddy at the end was so great! That was a perfect picture - Severus, all emotional and confused and surprised, looking over to see Remus' reaction...I wish this story had a movie version, or at least a good artist to illustrate. Though the words do paint the picture, too :) And if Snape can tell Teddy he loves him, then who knows, maybe someday in the future Snape might just be able to say that to Teddy's father...all in due time, of course...(which reminds me, I do still wonder about Snape's word choice that one time when he said he'd always found Remus attractive. Always? Does that mean anything, or was that an entirely objective observation from teenage-Severus? Hmm...)

Also, loved this: "Remus was trying to ignore the irony of Severus defending his exposed son from the cruelty and derision of someone more powerful than him, while he himself had done nothing but walk away when Severus had needed someone to do that for him years ago when they were boys." You've managed to develop these characters beyond their original story lines without ignoring or forgetting about the history these men have. Nicely done.

I love you, honestly. The dialogue is absolutely perfect. I love that you do not skimp on the dark, uncomfortable things. So many people do that it doesn't seem real even. Everything about this is absolutely perfect. Thank you so much for not abandoning this. When it is complete, please, please, write something else. I need your writing.

I love the way the story is progressing! Someone mentioned you have great pacing and I completely agree. It's completely fine that it's been a while since the last chapter, it sounds like you've been quite busy with unpleasant things. No interest lost here :) I saw earlier that you'd added a chapter, but made myself wait until I had finished studying to read it. Which was, of course, the very first thing I did once back at my apartment. It's quite the novel now - 200,000 words! That's definitely something worth celebrating. Congratulations, and thanks for continuing to write despite all the unhelpful circumstances!

"Dabble" indeed! Interfering ministry morons. I was half-hoping it was Kingsley coming by to (actually) check and see how everyone was holding up to the unfairness of it. But seeing Severus twit this idiot is fantastic. I love this story and was so jazzed to see an update and I wasn't disappointed!

It's a story worth waiting for. Maybe Severus should look for somewhere else in the world to live with Remus and Teddy. Sounds like they got rid of Voldemort only to get a worse or at best equal monster in the form of the Ministry. He and they have done their bit and deserve some peace and privacy.

As always the last chapter was great. Hope things are great in you life. I think my favorite interactions are with Severus and Teddy...So wonderful to see Severus turn his bad experiences into teaching moments.

Still reading very happily. Little Teddy is soooadorable & a fine son to Severus I hope. Love your Harry and how his view of Severus is shown as wrong. Teddy being scared & disliking Harry after being so scared by him is so funny...Harry jumping to conclusions and all.
