Yes, it is longer and does explain why Snape acted so uncharacteristically. Excellent update!

...yeah, I'm beginning to see you're about to make this complex in a chapter or two.
It feels like people are going to start spiraling down to the ground with no net in
sight.

about #26..
You know, I was thinking this 2 chapters ago and now I'm REALLY convinced that even though
that IS a portrait of Prof. Snape, it is more of how he used to be in his younger years as
a Deatheater. I think this version of Snape that Harry is dealing with is before his redeeming
qualities truly came into play as time went on.
Me thinks this version of Snape was put in an area by the man himself when he got older, because he did not
want to be reminded of how he used to be.
Besides aren't the portraits designed to catch a specific moment in time? I just think it caught the
true Slytherin side of Severus Snape, which unfortunately is mixed with the Deatheater in him at that
particular time in his early years as a teacher.
Tell me I'm right on the money. :-)

These last 2 chapters were so good! Snape's portrait was totally disturbing and there is something other than Harry's mess going on if Snape's portrait would do something like that to him. Was it maybe a portrait that was made at a time when Snape seriously hated Harry? Not sure how that works but I would not have thought that a portrait of any set of memories would be in kill mode.
