My main issue with Kingsley's argumentation isn't the capital punishment per-se, but his lame excuse basing it on so-called muggle law. His claim that using the electrical chair to execute Severus is based on muggle law, doesn't fit European muggle laws. My first thought reading it was: So London is in Texas now. I really expect Hermione to know enough about British Muggle laws to realise that he is using muggles as an excuse. It makes Kingsley dishonest in my eyes. He could have just said that the Death Eater's crimes (especially after their mass break-out in Order of Phoenix) make a more severe punishment necessary, that might have found the support of many people in the Wizarding World, but by using the excuse of using 'muggle law' he doesn't even show that it is HIS decision to introduce capital punishment in the Wizarding World. No, he tries wool over everyone's eyes and doesn't take the responsibility for his decisions. Why does he need to use such a lame and whacky excuse? Of course, most people in the wizarding world don't know enough about the muggle world to detect his lie. But why can't he simply take responsibilty for his actions?

This left me both angry at how Snape is being treated and interested to see what happens.

omg, you are silently killing me.. This was the most incredible bath scene I have ever read. Again, you go right on breaking my heart. Even his last line stating that he would not need to bed to sleep but to take her on was bittersweet. I just want to cry.
Yes, your writing is just that good, you have played with my emotions well.

You sure do know how to make a woman cry, don't you? Snape lives & he and Hermione live happily ever after creating beautiful dark haired children. Snape dies. Hermione better kill every bastard in the Wizarding World connected to his death. I'm talking Law Abiding Citizen style revenge. Or else, I'll be sorely displeased.
By the way, did I mention you're a kickass writer & storyteller?

Which Muggle law counts for the British Ministry of Magic? The United Kingdom is part of the European Union and no member of the European Union has the death penalty - some had to abolish it before they could become a member. So if Muggle Britain doesn't have a death penalty in accordance with which laws do they sentence him to death? I can only assume the Wizengamot are using this pretty lame excuse to kill Severus, because their own laws would 'only' allow the Dementor's kiss or a life sentence in Azkaban. Well, the Wizarding World is obviously rather backward - more so in this story, but their argumentation is awful. So they've apparantly decided to use outdated muggle laws instead of current laws - why not use torture for getting information out of suspects as well. Why only go back fifty years when there are hundreds of years of horrible legal pratices they could use. Sorry for the rant, but the Wizengamot don't apparently know anything about the current legal practices of the muggles in their country. I completely lost it when I read this madness. Kingsley has gone insane, hasn't he? He worked for the Prime Minister, he should know that the last execution in Britain was in 1955. Good God, defeating Voldemort obviously didn't help the Wizarding World, because they still prefer outdated and inhumane punishments.

No legal council? Well, obviously they are still using the same legal system Umbridge used to procecute muggleborns for stealing magic during Voldemort's reign. The Wizarding World changes, but doesn't get better. So when they mentioned muggle laws in the first chapter, they probably meant China.
Hermione must do everything in her power to fight against that verdict. She knows that what the Ministry and Minister are doing is wrong. She should know enough about the muggle legal system to know that it is not okay what they are doing to Severus. I could understand if a pureblood didn't fight against this injustice, but with her muggle background Hermione should be aware that there hasn't been a death penalty in Europe for quite some time and that the defendant has rights - like a legal council. She really must fight this.
