for draco i imagine it's the first time he's been acknowledged for HIS own power. something from him that HE did. there's a rush in knowing that I did this. I made this. Not my Malfoy name, not my father or his influence, ME! Even if not very many people acknowledge it.
As for the darkness inside the dome house, i imagine that something like a lumos captured and stuck to something would do... if they can figure out a way to channel all that restless magic blowing about into it. Or find the local equivalent to glowing moss.
Is the floor dirt?
Oooooooh, i wonder if the creature is sentient... or perhaps just recognizing them as predator rather than prey. You manage to make important points and observations so subtly (envies you that.) your description of the sounds the creature made had me grinning.
Malfoy is right though... har will always be up for a good battle, a decent challenge. I think he would have stagnated on Earth. I wonder if he's also right in that it will come to a head with the others wishing to challenge har's leadership/authority. I don't think har would mind not being leader... or perhaps a joint leadership but he won't stand for stupidity or cruelty and they really can't afford a split. With struggling to adapt to their new world they need cohesion and unity.
I wonder if that would work. i reckon it might. the more exposure they get the more something has a chance of waking in them, especially youngsters like Teddy.
I look forward to seeing how the rest of them develop, if they develop and how they develop. I think draco will be testing his powers constantly as well. he's to analytical to just leave it at that and his pride will make him strive to develop them to their fullest.
I reckon it's a good thing they're on Hurricane now cause Earth wouldn't be able to handle them. ^^

oh... wow. That was just too cool. (not the giant bird monster thing... how the heck did the unspeakbles miss that one) Who needs a freakin' wand?! The whole planets churning with magic, all u gotta do is focus and channel some. XP
i reckon while new arrivals might struggle, those born there will probably absorb some of the ambient magic and it will come easier to them since they'll be 'part of the world' in the way new arrivals aren't.
still, freaking huge monster bird thing. Not cool. reckon they're gonna need wards or alarms or something for that one.
Kudos to draco though. Now he has a viable 'skill' he can offer.

about #4...
1. I was hoping myself that Draco would be able to keep it a secret, until
he mastered it, at least.
2. This wild idea popped in my head about someone going (somehow) into the
future two hundred years from now (maybe 20yrs) & seeing how the terrain would
change, so they could build their homes accordingly. Since they can't...I vote
for homes halfway underground or take a tip from the Hobbits, homes built within
the hills that way the wizards won't be exposed to the harsh winds of Hurricane.
They would also be protected from wild animals.
Also, they really wouldn't need to build a huge fire to stay warm, since the home would
be insulated by the earth AND the only light they would need would be candles. Nobody thought
of bringing...*ahem* lanterns?
As for farming, it would have to be a large domed structure that can withstand high
winds, so the plants won't be damaged as they mature. Too bad they don't have steel beams.
What will they do for meat? Unless they become a fishing community...and they still don't know
what type of fish in the water. What will you do?

I cannot wait to see what Draco does to assist in survival. He has the ability to cut, which I guess would come in handy when it comes to clearing the tall grass for farming. Hmm, but I cannot wait to see where this goes. I'm also very excited to see this story on here as well. I've been enjoying this world and look forward to what you'll have happen next. I think Teddy is adorable, Draco is a bit lost, Hermione is her know-it-all self, and Harry is very powerful and overprotective. I think you have an excellent dynamic.

You weren't kidding about teh creature description- that was a wicked start! I like the development of Draco's person starting out here.. And I adore that he gets on with Teddy. I think that in most of the stories where they both appear I like watching them interact. Ted is a great little wheel around which these two lads can spin as it were LOL Still really getting into the wild magic thig, craving more and more of it!

This is a really nice and original storyline, which I think I have never read before in the Harry Potter verse. I'm a big fan of emigration scifi novels. When I was younger I devoured Anne McCaffrey's books which are somewhat similar. That said, what bothers me a bit is that they did not take more useful things with them. Having magic and basically unlimited space with wizardspace (thinking of what Hermione carried in her little bag in DH)... what about bringing plants and animals, especially magical ones (wand materials... but also food and medicine...). What about other gadgets, magical artifacts... they could even take a house... the tents at the tournament were practically houses inside. Maybe the Weasley's money was limited, but Harry and Draco have fortunes... they could have taken everything they need to build a whole village and found a magical colony. They could have houses underground with the magical windows the ministry has. Why did they go there with almost nothing?

kinda makes you wonder how many of the others will survive the first night, week etc.
malfoy's theory is very interesting. on a highly charged magical world, will the inhabitants also become highly charged. would they become like super wizards back on poor tamed Earth or Britain at least. I imagine some of the countries work with magic rather than just trap it.
Interesting, so har is essentially a wind mage. he can still do the smaller stuff but he needs his wand as a focus?
have they thought about what they're going to do wand was for Teddy and any other kids that come along? how'd wizards tap their magic before wands. Also, who are they going to mate with. It's one thing to relocate to safety but unless a lot more people follow along, there's not going to be a sustainable population. Then, they've actually got to survive their new world.
it s good mio brought seeds but they're going to need a green house or something to grow them in. AND it'll need to be shielded to fair the well... good thing har's a wind mage. >> plants can be tetchy and i imagine magical plants, even more so.
does the magic of Hurricane recognize life debts the way Earth's magic does? If so, that's probably going to effect things.
at any rate, i look forward to see what's coming next.

Wow! I'm actually getting a thrill out of this. :-D
This is definitely different in theme & tone [thus far] from
what you normally write ANNND it feels like a homage to the
sci-fi movies that deals with people making pilgrimages to other
worlds, kind of similar to 'Avatar', 'Angry Red Planet' & 'When Worlds
Collide'.
*sigh* Don't you wish you COULD go to another world where things are greener,
the world has two moons and (for me) there were mythical creatures there (of the
herbivorous kind)?
Anyway, back to reality...
