Loved the speedy update there, though I'm not surprised you got so many reviews about children and their intelligence. People tend to have very strong opinions about children in general, I know it got me to review too. Anyway, can't wait to read more and I personally would love to read some of what happens between now and whenever the time jump goes to. Either way, also looking forward to seeing how much of a time jump there is.

I love this story so far. And I agree with you, children are much smarter than most give them cred for. I am studying to become a children psychologist and I have a sister who is only 7, who formed complete and long sentences at the age of 2-3. She's considered smart for her age, sure, but children are sponges when it comes to knowledge (just look at those 3-year-olds who can speak 3 or more languages!). I see nothing abnormal in a child with Harry's intelligence, heck, I've seen smarter children than that. When I was helping out at a pre-school a few years ago, there was a 6-year-old boy who played chess on a genius' level. He tried to teach me maneuvers, but I can honestly say I found it too complicated (though I admit never to have had an interest in chess, even if I had known more of the game, I probably wouldn't have been able to keep up with him). So I don't see anything wrong with Harry here, and if so then more in the beginning about how he dared to be so open with his anger towards the family who have put him down and made him feel unloved for all his life. But hey, that's got more to do with personality than it has to do with intelligence. So keep up the good work, don't let ignorant people put you down and update soon! :)

Ok, I understand you've been around children for a long time, and probably know more about a child's development, but Harry is an extremely articulate speaker for his age. Uncle Vernon and Petunia would have probably taught him good manners and respect (to save themselves from embarrassment or something), but I doubt even they are capable of Harry's level of vocabulary.
Even in the four months he was with Severus, I doubt he could have picked up on all that. And he's very confident for a child with a history of neglect and abuse.
I dont have any other suggestions, as the rest of this fic is amazing. I just don't find Harry's character believable.

I'm very much enjoying this story and Harry and Draco are very much believable. I used to work in a daycare and teach sunday school, I know children are very intelligent. I've had 3 year old's explain to me if there is no air in space we should put plants out there to make it. They're not stupid, far from it. And it's perfectly natural for someone in Draco's position to not know what he enjoys might be considered 'play' by someone else, just practice. And yes, children wine and have tantrums, but that's about the gist of what Harry had in this chapter about adoption.

Overall, great story, great idea, and great execution.

I like the idea for the plot. Harry does speak well, but I enjoy it. My younger brother has always been very articulate. Some kids just mature faster.

Harry living with the Malfoys. And, Snape getting Muggle rights to Harry. Very interesting. I am glad to see you updated. I look forward to the next chapter.

I love this story, and I completely agree that most people sell children short, both in intelligence and comprehension. I have a 7 year old niece who was reading at 3 and could spell and pronounce dinosaur names at 5. I also read at 3, and had my own dinosaur phase. I graduated high school in California at 16. Never underestimate the abilities of a child, especially one who is trying to make a good impression. Harry would want Severus to keep him, and would do his best to become what Severus wanted, or seemed to want.
