wow, that last chapter was intense. Harry's more sadistic side is coming out, they're becoming reckless, yet not wanting to leave the Weasleys... I hope this gets updated

It's an absolute tragedy that this hasn't been updated in so many years. Because this is probably one of the best HP/HG fanfics I've ever read, heck probably one of the best smut fics I've ever read. And I've read so maaany. I don't typically like the adultery angle, so I was apprehensive to read this, thinking I probably wouldn't like it. But your brilliant writing and characterization just made it all work. I just assumed based on the plot that this would be OOC, but everyone is in character, which is what really makes everything all the more interesting. These marital problems could have actually happened in cannon. Harry could have been seriously messed up from his tough life, Hermione could be attracted to Harry, despite being married to Ron. I've read more HP/HG fics after this, but I just can't forget this one, everything pales in comparison. Nothing is edgy, thrilling and intriguing as this. Usually HP/HG is pretty tame, so I usually end up reading Slytherins/Hermione fics but this just as good if not better than many of those.
I'm sad that you didn't continue, because it seems the plot was only getting more interesting. I hope you are alive and doing well and someday you return to this. I can only hope :)
I completely understand why this fic is abandoned. This story is one of the most amazing things I've read in terms of creating an amazing and realistic dynamic that's perhaps darker than any H/Hr fic I've read (at least in personal terms). And yet it just goes off the rails in the last couple chapters.
I'd never think I'd believe such a strong BDSM dynamic for H/Hr, but Harry's "damage" is convincing here and makes it all work. And I completely believe that Hermione would be depressed in her life with Ron and would find fulfillment doing things for Harry that he needs, even as they escalate far beyond anything she would have ever imagined doing. And I love the speech she gives him in Chapter 8, confessing her love and willingness to do anything for him, no matter how degrading. It's horrifying (to me) to read, but it also still rings true to her faithfulness to him, no matter what. But she also makes clear during that speech that at some level her satisfaction now is coming not necessarily from the insane boundary-pushing stuff, but rather from her fulfillment at being able to give him what he needs.
And so, even though I'd never have thought I'd believe such a plot, you convinced me that Hermione was willing to give herself to Harry in any way imaginable (and perhaps unimaginable) physically, as well as being willing to let him completely dominate her there. But in the last couple chapters, the dominating personality begins to spill into their non-physical interactions too, and the love that motivates her gets lost. I simply can't believe that she'd let him get away with "I'll answer your calls only if you're a good girl" or whatever at the end -- that's the point where she'd pull out her wand and stun HIM or something. All throughout the story you did a great job of showing her hesitance, but also her insistence on still being herself, the strong female character whom readers fall in love with in the books, but who is willing to sacrifice everything for Harry, even burn down everything in her entire life for him. But then, just as the degradations escalate (which again, I can believe she would willingly do for him), I have to believe that she'd still need to assert herself once their "play" is over.
To put it briefly, it seems to me she is having an affair because she needs something from Harry physically, emotionally, psychologically. But she's participating in the LEVEL of BDSM because she also knows it's what he needs. She also needs love and respect from him outside of that, and I think if she weren't getting that clearly, she wouldn't put up with his crap. But in that last chapter, that all seemed to blow up, and Hermione now seemed OOC without her own reason to blow up her life other than escalating perversion (and the groundwork was not laid for that for HER), so I'm actually glad not to read more going in that direction.
