I'm really enjoying this story. Looks like Hermione's going to have an interesting time trying to keep the upper hand with Lucius. Especially since it's sounding as though she might not mind having a hand or two ON him, as well. And who could blame her?

This story's slow build is fantastic, so far! I love mystery of not knowing why/if he did kill Voldemort, as well as the pull of the two of them. Lucius' interest mingled with Hermione's acknowledgment of his assets...yum! I look forward to more soon! Thanks, HG4eva

Dobby makes a very effective duenna, I must say. I'm sure Lucius remembers being blasted down the stairs at Hogwarts, so he shouldn't put up much fuss, not if he wants to stay in one piece, that is, (smirk). She may have the house, but he's still got his vaults so a little wheeling and dealing should make his life a bit easier. Perhaps Hermione should charge him rent to ease her financial woes? Since she spent all her money on Draco's care, I would say he owes her, big time. Loved her telling him to be nice to the elves.

Wow, what a chapter! So many lovely twists and turns...and now Hermione owns Malfoy Manor and all it's contents. If Lucius was only pretending madness and 'cursing her with his last breath', what's he going to do when he finds out about this, lol. (I think you're right ~ it's terribly in character for him to quote those lines from Melville.)
My heart went out to him finding out Draco was so severely spell-damaged. I don't think Hermione had any idea that he'd never heard about it before then; it wouldn't be like her to intentionally cause anyone that much anguish. Perhaps the fact of why she truly bought the manor will soften the blow a little for Lucius when he does learn of it.

Congrtulations on writing your first novel! Just a note, the crinoline is not a regency fashion, it didn't emerge until the mid-19th century and Regency is 1790 to 1814. Now who's a nerd ;)? I like the way you are setting up their future relationship: Hermione will end up isolating ehrself if she pursues this course, Lucius will owe her for arranging for Draco's care, and she will owe him for his help. Looking very good!
