Intriguing. I like the idea of Harry as a muggle doctor, he'd probably manage quite well. The idea of Snape's muggle doppleganger being a murderous drug dealer has some interesting connotations as well, I must also say. It fits with the canon of his obsessive, rather selfish personality. Riddle as an American General is a bizarre turn, very original!

Wow. Powerful first chapter, not so much for what you wrote but what you didn't. I could picture the scene in my mind, Hermione knowing she will die yet facing it with dignity while she talked with Snape. The burial sentence about veil that Snape says, in my opinion reveals his respect towards her. I had to giggle at the part about her not hating him. Good thing he had his mask on. Since she's in seventh year and Dumbledore's not dead I can only assume that HBP is being ignored. From the events in the first five HP novels Hermione has always been able to accept and see that there's more to Snape than just the "Greasy Git" surly potions master.

No sign yet of anything Dopplegangerish, but it's only the first chapter. Looking forward to the next one.

p.s. Are Harry and Ron off Horcrux hunting?

That's one hell of an opening, I must say, and a very serious cliffhanger--I can hardly wait to see what you do next!
