Shame this was never finished. It was more than a worthy sequel and was taking a fascinating direction.
I've got no sympathy for Hermione whatsoever. Not even a little bit. She's one of 4 people trying to stop a genocidal maniac who took over a country and is trying to kill everyone she cares about, and she's too caught up in her insecurities and teenage angst to act like something resembling a semi-mature young adult. Pathetic.
Wonderful, Hermione goes off and leaves because of her idiocy, gets caught and taken to Malfoy manner, making everyone else risk their lives and any chance to beat to the badguy in order to go save her ass. Perfect. I'd almost forgot how much I can't stand such stupid decision making. Good chap.
God I can't take it. Harry let them live. Whyyyy. Enemy combatants, rapists, terrorists, people who tortured him and his friends... And then the Harry Pansy issue. Christ. I wish this story would be updated because it's one of the few good H/P out there, but damn if I don't fucking hate where it's gone. Writing itself is good.
What I DON'T WANT is a complete breakup between Harry & Pansy, or Pansy dying with a remorseful Harry. So there has to be hard times between Harry & Pansy but he has to admit to himself that he agreed to the plan & Pansy was coerced into what she did. I want Pansy to try to explain to Harry what happened, but he won' listen, to Hermione's & Ginny's glee. But Pansy isn't going to beg Harry. She'll do some missions - without the Golden Trio - for the Order that will convince them to trust her. The Golden Trio can't help but see her devotion & bravery. Harry is enraged & super-hurt at what he saw and what he thought happened, but then he should give some thought to how Pansy would feel watching him with Bellatrix.
After some torturous months without Pansy, and realizing it's not fair to her to not allow her a chance to give her side, Harry owls her that he'd like to talk. It's telling that she accepts, but on the condition that they have tea only on neutral ground, with lots of other people around. Harry starts off by acknowledging that he accepted the plan, and - though he found it really hard to take - maybe they could try rebuilding a relationship, at least as friends. Pansy hears him out, and icily reminds him of his refusal & rejection to talk with her right after the Malfoy Manor incident. She also tells him it's pretty arrogant of him to think she's done anything that she needs to have to be forgiven for - especially by him. She leaves him flabbergasted.
The Golden Trio learns that she has requested to not be assigned to the same missions as them, but when they occasionally go on the same mission, she's a professional & a team player - but none of them talk about the elephant in the room. Pansy has gained the grudging respect of Order members, and she's made friends with some. Eventually, she's asked out on dates & some wizards start to court her. This makes Harry jealous & sad, knowing he drove her away with his stupidity. Ron, and finally Hermione, realize Harry's unhappiness and try talking with him. This is where Harry unloads all his anger at Hermione for all the slights & insults to Pansy, and castigates himself for what he did, by commission or omission, to Pansy. And this is also where he decides to fight for and get back Pansy...[happily after ending].
