Wow, this story made me cry.

It was so sad, poor Al and poor Harry - so many years of pain. Gaaah.

This was a good story, up until Albus came to his senses. I feel weird saying this, because I usually hate sad endings, but he should have committed suicide or at least left in disgrace to live a sad, lonely little life. I guess that's the difference between Tragedy and pointless angst. I hate it when a story just piles on suffering for no other reason than making the characters sad. There is more than enough pointless misery in the real world, and I much prefer stories where the characters get to live happily ever after. In this case though the happy ending seemed wrong. Albus should have been destroyed, not out of some moral sense of deserving it, but just because the logic of the story demanded it. His pathology was too deep to be cured like that. This should have been a tragedy in the classical sense.

Don't take this criticism too hard. I hardly ever comment on anything, and am only doing so now because you are a good writer, and you've been getting better and better. If the story was crap I wouldn't have cared enough to read the whole thing, let alone comment on it. I even have your profile bookmarked. Please keep writing your wonderful stories.

Al was a brat! I'm glad it all worked out in the end!

I have to admit I shed a tear or two while reading this... for Harry.

It's true that family issues tend to escalate and seem huge for the ones involved while outsiders consider them bagatelles and don't understand why it can't be solved easily. And with teenagers it's even worse because mostly they have not emotionally matured yet and tend to see only their own problems.

PS. I'm still devouring all of your stories and I always look forward to the wonderfully frequent updates. You are my favourite active FF writer. And I love your recent stories that involve Severus ('Their Phoenix' is a gem, 'Practising Liars' is brilliant too).
It's just that I'm still a lazy reviewer... Sorry!

Despite the fact, I KNOW that YOU know where this story goes, it
was a good read.

A nice look in a son's complex and mixed-up life concerning his identity
and trying to find a place in the world that he can call his own.

What child hasn't experienced that in some point, especially if your
parent is influential.

All in all, this was nice.
