Oh my gosh, Severus is so confused, so conflicted. I think Gretchen is exactly right, he is terrified of opening up his heart to be broken and is trying to hurt Hermione before he himself is hurt. Maybe he'll even drive her away, then he can tell himself he was right all along not to allow her completely into his heart.

oh wow so it begins i was wondering when severus' insecurities and fears would creep more fully into his relationship.... poor hermione she really did have a bad week and a student asked if she was a cougar or if she wanted to be HA HA HA thats just funny... ok so we see gretchen now and she is beautiful poor hermione severus really threw her for a loop didn't he i think the reason he wanted to hurt her besides wanting to test her was so she would leave him so he would not have ot put his heart on the line again i think that scares him and i am worried that he will use his hurt of her to break off the relationship stating that he is not good for her... anyhoo i sooo cannot wait to see what happens next!!!!

Well...This one chapter touched a little close to home. I almost cried...
Im so glad that Gretchen won't be a problem. I would have had my claws sharpened if I were Hermione! Its good that Gretchen is talking some sense into stubborn Severus! And that last chapter... whew! We're getting closer to the goods, I can tell! Can't wait to read more!

Bastard that he is, he is suffering his own brand of pain fromt he conflict. I really wanted to cry for her, since I have been very much in the same position; nothing will disguise that walk to the nearest exit.
