I feel your epilogue did a great job in wrapping up the story succinctly.

LOL I try and deny my sentimental (more so my slight edging towards romance) side as much as possible but it is there, goshdarnit. ;) Can't hide anything with this last chapter though. This one had me in tears of conflicting emotion. And I agree totally that you can love a child that is not of your own flesh and blood. If my dad hadn't met my mother and loved her son and daughter as much as he did, then I wouldn't have the awesome brother and sister I do and I simply woulnd't exist. :)
Now the emotional tug of war. I feel so angry at Christophe for daring to even think he could just come back into Sophia's life after what he did. He who wanted nothing to do with her mother and did not care whether the little soul he helped to create lived or died. And then I laugh because karma found him and taught him such a strict lesson by denying him a child with his wife and for his side of things, that was justice and no more than he truly deserved. Then I think of his poor wife and how desperate and unhappy she would be not to be able to have children. She has done nothing to deserve what that low life did and she gets punished for it too. Life can be so cruelly unfair.
And then there's Hermione who has more reason than anyone to hate this wizard and yet she has enough compassion to hand him photos of Sophia over the years to let him understand what the daughter he didn't want was like and let him know that if Sophia chose to find out about him, that she would not stop her. And best of all I loved the loving wrap up at the end. A truly wonderful, well thought out fic. Well done you! :)
