I'm glad I finished it. I knew that I would love it because I so enjoy your style of writing. Being the "sis" that I am, the epilog was probably my favorite chapter, which is saying something because I really enjoyed many of them once LM and HM started becoming less adversarial. Very unusual and original story line. Thanks for sharing. p

Good Grief! Is there not one person in all of them (and that includes her) that looks at where others are as responsible as she is for the break down in the original. LM made some pretty nasty remarks himself, he ignored her, he was brutal when he first took her to bed, and then he came out and told her that he had married her so that they could basically use her. Was that supposed to make her feel kind toward him or should she still wonder if his attitude is as it has always been and that he will get rid of her when he no longer needs her? Even Draco thought that. And let's not forget that he actually did try to kill her, stood by and watched her be tortured and NEVER said a kind word to her in her life; in fact, he said many unkind words. And who died and made Snape all knowing? I have always liked him, but have zero respect for him where Hermione is concerned. He was at the center of being used, he assumed that she would hit NS and did not believe that she had not until he could compare hand prints, and then threatens to kill her if she hurts LM? Finally, I still don't think that she owed them more of an apology than they owed her. Why is she the one that should butt out when LM was kicked under the table because she was not a party to it, but they are allowed to jump on her when she starts in on LM. (LM is the only one that had a reason/right to speak to that situation). They just did not like little Cissy to be put on the spot...and HM was right, by the way, NS would not have liked it had SS acted that way. They have all lied to her and treated her cruelly in one way of another, but she being the one with no relationship experience, half of their life span to have learned about life, and no support system (which let's not forget was cut off from her by LM when she first married him because he was afraid his cash cow was going to get away), but she is the one who is blanketly at fault. Oh and lets not forget that the day she went into town to run errands for LM, Cissy got slapped once (and she had been on the other side and a snot for years), but no one has said a word about the hurtful things that were said to her and how she was treated because she now had the Malfoy name...there's no sympathy for her or even extra support, just accusations and now threats. Sorry this is so long but the computer kept saying that I could only add one review a day and would not take about a third of them. Love the story, but really would like to see someone champion Hermione...her friends never will because she is protecting the others. p

Chapter 39. Great chapter. Covered lots of information that shows the importance of the different relationship dynamics between the characters. I love Lucius and Snape. Notice how LM accepts the same kind of ribbing from SS that he got from HM, but is not offended. Tells in another way how insecure he is due to his failed first marriage. It is nice to see glimmers of wanting to protect his wife from conversations that most couples would want private (even if he does talk himself out of them). It is a bit strange that Narcissa would betray HM's confidences, to her son yet, when she is expecting HM to keep hers. Reading on... p

One overlooked fact where LV was concerned would be that his over blown ego would never have allowed him to even entertain the notion that he would have failed so he would have made no allowance for that. So cute that LM had a little green bout over Draco. Maybe now he can grasp just a little of how Hermione feels towards Narcissa (and she has more of a reason as they had that kind of relationship in the past). Seeing them all working together is great. p

Awwww. How sweet. You really have to love SS as he just shows in everything he says and does that he really does love LM and care what his life is like. It is such a foreign feeling to LM that it is amusing. I'm really looking forward to HM and LM fessing up with each other about their true feelings. p

I was trying to figure out why LM's behavior sexually toward HM bothered me so much and it finally struck that it is not even that she is unwilling, although that is not good either, but it is that his thought process for doing those often hurtful things to her are all negative. It is not something that he looks forward to sharing as something that he enjoys, but rather for the express purpose of hurting, demeaning, etc. her. I don't really want her to "come around". Unless it is to come around to opening her mouth and telling him what is bothering her and what she thinks. She has it drilled into her brain that Snakes do nothing without a personal agenda and then he questions how she feels about him when he tries to do something nice (for him). Again, there is no benefit for her, only everyone else from LM to the purebloods she has been duped into helping. blech! p

Sorry, but I don't see how HM could feel any way other than the way she did. She is still inexperienced and is in a forced marriage with someone who tells her that he married her to advance his own agenda, ignores her except when he wants to criticize or get her into bed, and truly takes everything she says as a personal affront. I think he is pissed because he doesn't have what Snape does and feels that he can do nothing right (basing the belief on Cissy's reactions to Snape), but that is for him to take care of, not Hermione. She is hurt and confused and obviously has no one that she can talk to that would help her sort out her feelings. Her Mom is not in the picture and no friends are available to her. Well the list goes on and on, but makes no difference to someone who cannot see passed himself. p

It is too bad that it took him nearly quitting on her for her to show him how she feels about him. It is also really too bad that she is still made out to be the "bad" one with the onus of the upheaval squarely on her shoulders alone. I must have missed something because it seemed to me that she would have said nothing to Narcissa had she not jumped in telling Hermione that she was wrong in her thinking about something that is clearly seen as flirting. And it was not an attack when she asked if it would be okay with her if SS acted that way...it only appeared to be an attack to SS and NS because it was a question she did not want to answer. I really hate that it is made all her fault with Lucius being painted as trying and trying with a wife who will have nothing to do with him. p

Thank you for having LM take some responsibility for how things went between them. Hopefully when they talk, it will not just be because he reacted badly to her bad behavior. Have to read on... p

Go Snape! and you have to give Lucius credit for at least asking what he could/should do, even if he does not understand how to follow through. p
