The slow dance was lovely. As my birthday was on the seventh, and my hubby was a continent away, I didn't expect much. But he sent me my dozen roses...and they're still blooming on my kitchen table. Not too shabby, eh? :D

Gah... password problems kept me from reviewing your last installment. But what I was going to say still applies - I love your Draco. He makes me very happy.
Also, have you ever read shoujo Manga? (romance graphic novels from Japan or Korea) In my YA literature class (though it applies to adult lit too) we talked about the difference between American comics and Asian comics and one of the textbooks showed how American comics were all about action, jumping from one scene to the next to propel the story forward with very few breaks. Manga, on the other hand, focuses on emotions and character development by using lots of "spacer" frames, like a movie that sets the scene by looking around the room or zoomign out on a lone figure or just showing a face that's staring off into space and not "doing" anything.
You're quite good at that kind of pacing: at the parties I can "see" the flurry going on in the background, but appreciate the moments you give each character to experience the effects of all this activity emotionally and socially. Like Pansy watching the relationships among the Weasleys even when she gets attacked, or Draco getting his confidence and insecurities all tangled up in awkward combinations with Hermione's dad... it's SO delicious...
I've told you before I anticipate your stories hungrily, wish every chapter were longer, and would love to see you get things published so I could support this craving more directly. And of course these chapters always make me smile like a giddy madwoman... not much point in saying it again, but, yeah, you've still got it. :)

Dammit! Found a typo and a grammar glitch (and I'd read it twice, before, too!). In the most recent one, you've got 'decent' where you meant to have: descent (Hermione going down the stairs). And you've got 'Ginny's and Parvati's faces was neutral'. I know you meant 'were neutral'. You actually could have had: the look on Ginny and Parvati's faces was neutral. I bet you were thinking of the one and typed the other. I normally wouldn't have put this in a public post, but AFF.net doesn't allow Private Messages, as far as I can tell.

I adored this chapter. This is such a beautiful journey of self-discovery, friendship and love: romantic, friends, self, etc. All our friends are beginning to realize that as well.
Dear Draco keeps stepping into the limelight doesn't he? It's funny, he's quiet but when you get him going, he's non-stop. I have to say, I thought he was going to give Hermione something special as a gift but I guess going in on something with Theo and Greg made sense. His idea of the ball was brilliant and I loved that Ginny gave him the credit. He too used to sitting in the shadows - he's so beautiful when the light shines on him. And Hermione is really seeing him in a new light.
Oh and Harry/Ron whispering to each other like gossiping hens after Draco's little speech was HILARIOUS.
Thank you for another beautiful chapter.

I know I've been a bad reveiwer.....but i just wanted to let you know I am thoroughly enjoying Hermione's birthday. I can't wait to see Draco's reaction when he sees her!! I only wish I could have birthdays like that!!
I'm hoping after the birthday we might see a bit more of Ron/Pansy interaction? I feel bad fro Pansy, she's trying so hard to be good, I just want to see her happy too. I don't always like the way she is portrayed, but I do like her in this story!
Your still doing a brilliant job!! Can't wait for more!!
