it would make more sense if Remus smelt it cuz of the werewolf thing Sirius doesn't carry over his animigus traits from outside of transforming but Remus on the other hand but love it and Pretty Kitty

Great story, as for dogs smelling heat, they can, atleast in female dogs, (male dogs don't get heat as far as i know, kinda like people, periods and the guys are just always ready to go.) As for the magic, I'm pretty sure it was mentioned that the ministry couldn't tell who did the magic, just the location it was done, so Harry is in a magical household around wizards, so no one would know he preformed the magic without a wand check or something more specific.
