I love this story and can't wait for more, but totally understand that real life has to come first. A early happy birthday and my condolances that you may have to spend it without your friends and family.

Love the plot. It is a great story line and, though it seems a bit slow now, i hope it is only due to the fact that it has only been going on for a few chapters and will heat up soon. In response to the shifts in the timeline, it makes enough sense if you pay attention, and as long as it does not get too messy (i think it is fine so far) in the future, it won't hurt anything.
